Newsbreakers
November 20, 2009
Kevin Love (broken hand) is about two weeks away from practicing, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:He would then need about a week of practice before being declared game ready. With Minnesota's season already lost, don't be surprised if he is out even longer, as they likely to exercise the utmost of caution.
November 16, 2009
Kevin Love will have his broken left hand X-rayed on Friday, and could resume practicing if the results are positive, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:The Timberwolves are off to a dreadful 1-10 start, and woefully out-muscled down low. Love's return certainly will not get Minnesota anywhere near a winning record, but should elevate them from the category of "automatic win" for opposing teams. As a rookie last season, he averaged nine rebounds and 11.1 points per game.
November 10, 2009
Kevin Love (broken hand) has told ESPN's Ric Bucher that he plans on making his 2009-10 season debut in two weeks.

Our View:This would have him returning nearly a month ahead of schedule. With the T-Wolves thin up front, however, it would be great news for Minnesota. If his initial owner got impatient and dropped him, now is the time to add him to your roster.
November 4, 2009
The Pioneer Press reports that is ahead of schedule in his rehab from a broken hand and he is targeting a November 20 return.

Our View:If Love does indeed return on November 20 he would be a month ahead of schedule. If he's on waivers, it's probably a good time to grab him. Once he's back, he should average a double-double for the Timberwolves.
November 2, 2009
FoxSports.com is reporting that the Minnesota Timberwolves have exercised the options on Kevin Love and Corey Brewer. Brewer will make $3.7 million next season, and Love will make $3.6 million.

Our View:This move was widely expected, as both players have shown they can be more than capable NBA players. Minnesota is a young team who have plenty of potential, and this move assures that both of these players will be involved in the organization for at least another season.
October 25, 2009
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Kevin Love returned to practice on Sunday after having successful surgery on his non-shooting hand.

Our View:Love was originally estimated to be out 6-8 weeks, but has progressed quickly. He will have a follow-up X-ray in a little over three weeks to see if he's cleared to play early. The double-double machine will slide in fantasy drafts, but may be worth a mid-round pick if you don't mind waiting a few weeks for his return. Ryan Gomes will play in his stead in the meantime.
October 19, 2009
Kevin Love is scheduled to have surgery on his fractured left hand on Tuesday, accrding to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Love is expected to miss sx-to-eight weeks after the surgery.

Our View:Love's injury is going to hurt the T-Wolves significantly, as he is expected to be out for at least six weeks. This will obviously hurt his fantasy value, but if other owners give up on him, he could be a nice value for those willing to wait.
October 16, 2009
Kevin Love could miss 6-8 weeks after fracturing his left hand in the third quarter of tonight's game against Chicago, according to Jerry Zgoda's (Star Tribune) twitter page.

Our View:He will visit a specialist to determine if surgery is needed. Oleksiy Pecherov and Ryan Hollins should see more minutes in his absence.
October 14, 2009
Kevin Love stayed strong on the boards on Wednesday in the Wolves' 99-94 loss to the Bulls. Love had 13 rebounds to go along with 12 points and two assists in the win.

Our View:Love has turned into a rebounding machine, and he is good for a double-double nearly every night. He had a nice rookie season, but he should be an even better fantasy player this year.
October 9, 2009
Kevin Love scored 12 points and grabbed 14 boards in Friday's 112-97 preseason loss to the Raptors.

Our View:Love is quickly becoming a double-double machine. He's been a standout in the preseason and had a monster second half last year to build off of. Judging by his performance on Friday he clearly wasn't bothered by that shot he took to the throat in Wednesday's practice.
October 9, 2009
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that Timberwolves' forward Kevin Love practiced without any problems on Thursday after suffering an injury to the throat during Wednesday's practice. Love was struck in the throat by a teammate, but he should be fine going forward.

Our View:Those shots to the throat can be painful, but it doesn't look like there is any real damage. Love is a tough guy, and he is expected to play tonight for the team. Love looks poised to improve on last year's solid rookie campaign this season based on his second half last year and his work so far during the preseason.
October 4, 2009
Kevin Love led the Timberwolves in both points (17) and rebounds (13) in Sunday's 117-103 preseason win over the Bucks.

Our View:Love nearly averaged a double-double last season and looks like he's up to his old tricks already in 2009. He hit 6-of-9 shots from the field, including one from downtown, and chipped in with an assist and a steal as well.
June 18, 2009
Kevin Love could be traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, along with the Timberwolves number six pick in next Thursday's draft, in exchange for the Grizzlies number two pick, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Our View:This would send Kevin Love back to the team that drafted him last season. Memphis is apparently unlikely to make the deal, though.
June 17, 2009
Updating a previous report, Kevin McHale is indeed done as the head coach of the Timberwolves according to the Toronto Star.

Our View:Kevin Love actually broke the story on his twitter account early this morning, but the news has been confirmed. The decision was apparently mutual and McHale and the team both felt it was time for him to move on.
June 17, 2009
According to his personal twitter account, Kevin Love reported Wednesday morning that Kevin McHale will not return to coach the Timberwolves next season.

Our View:His words: "Today is a sad day. Kevin McHale will NOT be back as head coach next season." There was speculation that this may be the case and, although Love's twitter account is far from official, McHale is likely done in Minnesota.
April 15, 2009
Kevin Love came off the bench and put up 12 points and ten rebounds in a losing effort as the Kings topped the Timberwolves 97-90 in a regular season finale.

Our View:Love almost averaged a double-double for the season and finished the year with four in his last five games.
April 8, 2009
Kevin Love scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Timberwolves beat the Warriors 105-97 on Wednesday. The rookie was 10-for-10 from the free-throw line.

Our View:Love has four double-doubles in his last five games and he is certainly drawing All-Rookie first team consideration. His production has spiked in the wake of Al Jefferson's knee injury.
April 7, 2009
Kevin Love missed the last game with the flu, but is expected to return to the court tonight against the Clippers, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:Love has been productive down the stretch, and is worth consideration for deeper leagues tonight. He reached at least 15 points in eight of his last 11 games.
April 6, 2009
The Pioneer Press reports that Kevin Love is expected to play on Tuesday against the Clippers after missing Minnesota's last game due to the flu.

Our View:It looks safe to plug Love into your lineups. The rookie will see even more opportunity on offense down the stretch as the Timberwolves are suffering from a variety of injuries at the moment.
March 31, 2009
Kevin Love had 23 points and 12 rebounds in a 108-88 loss to the Mavericks on Tuesday night.

Our View:Love matched Dirk Nowitzki in points and rebounds Tuesday, but the team around him just couldn't get it done. It was his second straight game with a double-double and the most points he's scored in a game in almost two weeks.
March 27, 2009
Kevin Love scored 8 points and grabbed six rebounds in a loss to the Cavs on Friday.

Our View:Love was the lone bright spot for the T-Wolves Friday. The points were there, but he fell short in the rebound category again. He hasn't recorded a double-double in his last four games after putting up three straight in prior games.
March 18, 2009
Kevin Love led the Wolves in scoring Wednesday night as they were trimmed by the Hornets 94-93. He scored 23 and grabbed 11 boards.

Our View:Love had a great game and his accuracy was key, hitting 6-of-11 from the field and 11-of-14 free throws. If only he could put up numbers like this every night fantasy owners would drool.
March 17, 2009
Kevin Love recorded a double-double in a loss to the Spurs Tuesday night, scoring 17 points and pulling down 19 rebounds.

Our View:Love has been inconsistent this season, but had a nice game Tuesday. He was 7-of-11 shooting, which clearly had something to do with Tim Duncan missing the game.
March 14, 2009
Kevin Love scored 22 points and collected seven rebounds as the Timberwolves beat the Bobcats 108-100 on Saturday. Six of his seven boards came on the offensive glass.

Our View:From game to game, you rarely know what to expect from the rookie. Regardless, we tip our hat to him for filling in as the T'Wolves starting center without giving up too much to opposing teams. He should be able to up his production in his second season even though Al Jefferson will be back in the mix.
March 14, 2009
Kevin Love scored six points, grabbed four boards, and collected a career-high four blocks Friday night as Minnesota lost to the Knicks 102-94 at Target Center.

Our View:The 20-year-old Love has often looked outmatched when going up against stronger and more physically mature opposition, but that hasn't stopped fantasy owners from latching onto the former UCLA phenom. Despite averaging 10.2 points per game, Love is owned in nearly 83 percent of leagues.
March 11, 2009
Kevin Love picked up his fourth double-double in his last five games as Minnesota defeated Memphis 104-79 on Wednesday. He had 19 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists in the victory.

Our View:Love continues a solid rookie season in which he is averaging 10.1 points and 8.9 rebounds. He has not shown the passing or three-point shooting skills that were attributed to him entering the draft, but he does look like a legitimate NBA starting power forward.
March 9, 2009
Kevin Love finished with a double-double on Monday, posting 16 points, 11 rebounds, and three steals.

Our View:Love now has three double-doubles in his last four games for the T-Wolves.
March 7, 2009
Rookie Kevin Love shot just 5-of-17 from the floor Friday night, but he still managed 18 points in Minnesota's 110-90 loss to the Lakers.

Our View:The 20-year-old Love seemingly gets more and more comfortable with each NBA start. He'll try for three consecutive double-doubles for the second time this season when the T-Wolves visit Portland Saturday night.
March 3, 2009
Kevin Love is averaging 8.7 rebounds per game, which currently leads all rookies, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:He should be considered for fantasy lineups for tonight's game against the Warriors, who he contributed 19 points and eight boards against in his last meeting.
February 27, 2009
Coming off a game against the Jazz when he set career-highs in points (24) and rebounds (15), Kevin Love collected just two points and three rebounds in 29 minutes as the Timberwolves lost 102-82 on Friday.

Our View:Love had been playing exceptionally well in 2009, but he was nowhere to be found tonight. Hopefully he'll bounce back strong.
February 25, 2009
Kevin Love registered two career-highs as he scored 24 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and the Timberwolves lost to 120-103 to the Jazz on Wednesday.

Our View:Through 12 February games, Love is averaging 12.8 points and 10.5 rebounds. He is also shooting 53 percent from the field and 86 percent from the line this month. If he can consistently average double-doubles, he may begin justifying trading O.J. Mayo for him.
February 22, 2009
11 points and 10 rebounds from Kevin Love wasn't enough for Minnesota to beat the Lakers, as they fell 111-108.

Our View:Love is starting to really produce for fantasy owners of late. He has eight double-doubles this month, and missed another by just one rebound.
February 18, 2009
Kevin Love was solid for the T-Wolves on Wednesday, finishing with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Our View:Love had recorded a double-double in his previous three games, so he was just a board shy of extending the streak to four games.
February 10, 2009
Rookie Kevin Love recorded his second straight double-double Tuesday night, scoring 15 points and pulling down 11 boards in Minnesota's 110-102 loss to Toronto.

Our View:Love has been solid in his inaugural season, with 12 total double-doubles. But he has been especially impressive the last 10 days, posting four of those double-doubles since Feb. 1.
February 8, 2009
Kevin Love posted a double-double on Sunday, finishing with 12 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block.

Our View:Love's fantasy stock remains on the rise as he now has three double-doubles in his last four games and is owned in nearly three-fourths of fantasy leagues.
February 4, 2009
Rookie Kevin Love is in the starting lineup for the Timberwolves tonight against the Wizards. Craig Smith is out due to bruised ribs.

Our View:Love has been averaging more than 10 rebounds for the past month, and he should easily attain that mark tonight. A good showing from Love will push him into further consideration as a full-time starter.
January 28, 2009
Kevin Love collected his second double-double of his last three games and his fifth of the month as Minnesota lost at home to Detroit on Wednesday. He had 17 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists in the loss. Prior to the game, coach Kevin McHale called Love's snub from the Rookie-Sophomore game during All-Star weekend a "travesty" and "utterly ridiculous", according to the AP.

Our View:Love has been fairly impressive in January. He has averaged 12.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, and shot 53.7 percent from the field through 13 games. What makes it more impressive is that he is seeing just 24 minutes of action per game. This type of production certainly bodes well for his future.
January 25, 2009
Kevin Love had a big impact on Sunday's overtime win against the Bulls, posting 19 points, 15 rebounds, and one assist in 33 minutes.

Our View:This was the second double-double for Love in the last five games. He's only owned in about 65 percent of leagues, as he still frequently posts unimpressive numbers for games at a time.
January 16, 2009
Kevin Love put on a strong performance on Friday, finishing with 14 rebounds, 13 points, two assists, and two steals.

Our View:This was Love's second double-double in his last four games, meaning his fantasy value is on the rise. He's owned in about 70 percent of leagues and is good depth player for boards and scoring.
January 7, 2009
Kevin Love had one of his best games of the season as the Timberwolves defeated Oklahoma City 129-87 on Wednesday. He finished the game with 16 points and 15 rebounds.

Our View:Love is slowly coming on and he is averaging 8.2 points and 7.9 rebounds on the season.
