Michael Beasley had an impressive performance for the Heat on Friday in his team's 120-113 loss to the Raptors. Beasley poured in 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the contest.

Our View:Beasley has scored over 20 points in two consecutive outings, and it looks like he might be getting hot for fantasy owners. If he can find a way to put up these numbers on a more consistent basis, he might finally live up to the enormous expectations that accompanied him into the league.
November 18, 2009
Michael Beasley scored a team-high 21 points in Wednesday's 105-90 loss at Atlanta. He also had nine boards and a steal.

Our View:Beasley topped 20 points for the third time this season, and fell one rebound short of collecting his second double-double. He played a larger role up front with Udonis Haslem out.
November 12, 2009
Michael Beasley had a nice outing on Thursday in the Heat's 111-104 loss to the Cavs. Beasley scored 24 points and grabbed six boards in the game.

Our View:Beasley is only averaging 12.4 points a game this season, so tonight was quite an outburst. He has plenty of talent, especially on the offensive end, and should be a nice fantasy contributor all season.
November 10, 2009
Michael Beasley recorded 15 points five rebounds and two assists in Tuesday's 90-76 win over the Warriors.

Our View:The 15 points were the most Beasley has put up since the Heats season opener, when he had 21. He had a solid rookie season last year, but has yet to really impress this season since being handed the starting job, averaging just over 12 points.
November 1, 2009
Michael Beasley hit just 3-of-12 shots in Sunday's win over the Bulls. He finished the game with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks in 31 minutes of action.

Our View:Beasley played less minutes than backup Udonis Haslem and was generally less effective. Still, his starting job appears to be safe for now. Expect the consistency to come as Beasley searches to find his rhythm with the starters.
October 27, 2009
After having him play at small forward for much of the preseason, the Heat have decided to start Michael Beasley at power forward this season, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Our View:Long-time starter Udonis Haslem will come off the bench, while Miami newcomer/journeyman Quentin Richardson will start at small forward. Despite being undersized, Beasley seems like a good bet to improve on his 2008-09 rookie numbers of 13.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
October 27, 2009
Michael Beasley blasted skeptics of his move from power forward to small forward on Monday, saying "If you don't think I can play it, all I can tell you is sit back and watch," according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:"I don't have a natural position. I'm comfortable on the floor no matter what, if you're asking," he elaborated. It's good for the Heat that he is taking the challenge head on, and he seems likely to improve on his rookie numbers of 13.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this year.
October 25, 2009
Dealing with a sprained thumb, Michael Beasley might not be ready for the Heat's regular season debut on Wednesday, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:He has missed the team's past two preseason games with the injury. Expect the Heat to play it very safely with one of the cornerstones of their franchise.
October 19, 2009
Michael Beasley sat out practice for the Heat on Monday, according to the Miami Herald. Beasley suffered a sprained right thumb and sore shoulder during Sunday's practice.

Our View:Beasley said he wanted to practice on Monday, but the team decided to hold him out as a precaution. This shouldn't be serious, but we will keep you updated.
October 18, 2009
Michael Beasley might not necessarily start for the Heat this season, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Our View:The team is in no mood to just hand him a starting job after his tumultuous offseason. That being said, he is clearly one of Miami's five best players, and after averaging 13.9 points and 5.4 rebounds as a rookie last season - in addition to having a monster preseason this year- he will see starter's minutes sooner rather than later.
October 15, 2009
Michael Beasley again led the Heat in their preseason win over the Hornets on Thursday, scoring 11 points while grabbing 11 rebounds.

Our View:Beasley looks to have put his tumultuous offseason behind him, and seems primed to improve on his rookie numbers of 13.9 points and 5.4 rebounds from a season ago. He's a solid middle rounds pick.
October 14, 2009
Michael Beasley looked like a star on Wednesday in the Heat's 96-91 loss to the Thunder. Beasley scored 24 points and added four rebounds and two assists in the loss.

Our View:Beasley was very solid tonight, and although it is just the preseason, it is very encouraging for fantasy owners. He has a full NBA season under his belt, and he could very well be ready for a breakout year.
October 11, 2009
Michael Beasley had 16 points, six rebounds, and two steals in the Heat's 95-93 loss to the Spurs on Sunday. He spent most of the game back at power forward, although he is expected to start at small forward this season. He hit his only attempted three-pointer. James Jones drew the start at small forward but failed to hit a shot.

Our View:Beasley hasn't been a totally efficient player in the preseason, but his overall production has been solid. He has been named the team's starting small forward this season and holds considerable more value than his numbers from last season.
September 26, 2009
In a recent interview, Michael Beasley said his offseason stay at a rehab facility was his "lowest hour" but denied that he has a substance-abuse problem, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View:While Beasley did not want to get into specific details about his stay, he did seem open to talking about how the experience was a positive one for him and that he is ready to move on. Expect all the offseason hoopla to at least slightly affect his average draft position in fantasy drafts this upcoming season, though it does not seem like something that will be a lingering issue.
September 21, 2009
Michael Beasley resumed working out with the Heat on Monday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:He was just released from a month-long stay in a rehabilitation facility over the weekend. As a rookie in 2008-09, Beasley averaged 13.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, and will almost surely improve on those numbers this season.
September 19, 2009
The South Florida Sun-Setinel is reporting that Heat star Michael Beasley has finished his rehab program and will be released from the facility in Houston. A source cloae to the ituation clamis the Beasley finished te entire program and will be eligible for release sometime over the weekend.

Our View:Beasley had a very good rookie season despite all his problems, so just think about how good he can be if he gets his head on straight. If the Heat hope to keep D-Wade for the long term, the need Beasley to become the go-to second option.
August 24, 2009
According to a report at Yahoo! Sports, Heat star Michael Beasley has checked himself into a Houston rehab facility at the request of the team. Beasley is reportedly seeking help for substance abuse and psychological issues. This news comes on the heels of some troubling posts by Beasley on his Twitter page in which he says: "Y do i feel like the whole world is against me... I can't win for losin," and "Feeling like it's not worth livin!!!!!!! I'm done."

Our View:Beasley has also been under fire from a picture he posted to his Twitter account showing some baggies in the background that appeared to contain marijuana. This situation has escalated quickly for the 2008 number two pick, and we will pass along any new information when it is released.
August 23, 2009
Michael Beasley appears to have inadvertently posted a photo with something he did not want people to see in it on his Twitter account, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Our View:That something is rumored to be bags of marijuana. Twitter - the great downfall inducer of the 21st century. If the rumors are true, expect the Heat and the league to be none too pleased with a player many see as a rising star.
June 11, 2009
The Sun-Sentinel reports Michael Beasley is working this summer to adapt his game to the small forward position. "I'm working on the things a shooting guard or a small forward would work on. I do a lot of screen work, a lot of jump shots, and ball handling, a lot of stuff point guards do."

Our View:The Heat insisted on playing him at power forward all of last season, which severely limited his playing time behind Udonis Haslem. Now the Heat have changed course and seem to be moving him to small forward. With a good work ethic throughout this summer, we should see the production that many anticipated of Beasley last season.
May 5, 2009
The Heat are in the process of moving Michael Beasley from power to small forward next season, according to the Miami Herald. The change would allow Beasley to start instead of spending another year as the backup to Udonis Haslem. Coach Erik Spoelstra would not commit Monday to moving Beasley to small forward full-time. "It's going to be one of the major areas of focus," Spoelstra said of working with Beasley at small forward this summer. "We have four or five months to give him a look at the 3. We're definitely going to spend a lot of time with him at both positions."

Our View:For his part, Beasley said he is comfortable in either spot. We would surely see a big uptick in his numbers should he permanently make the switch.
April 19, 2009
Michael Beasley saw 32 minutes of action in Sunday's playoff loss to the Hawks. He finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.

Our View:Beasley played more than Haslem, but he was unable to get his shot going as he finished 5-of-15 from the floor. We would love to see him back in the starting lineup, and another blowout loss in Game 2 may do the trick.
April 17, 2009
Michael Beasley was named the Eastern Conference NBA Rookie of the Month for April, the Memphis Commercial-Appeal confirms. The forward averaged 20.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and 1.0 threes in the period. He also shot 55.3 percent from the floor.

Our View:It took until April for Beasley to deliver the type of performances fantasy owners were hoping for all season. He has set himself up to have much better value in 2009-10.
April 14, 2009
Michael Beasley shined in a starting role once again on Tuesday. However his double-double wasn't enough to put the Heat over the top as they fell to the Hawks 81-79. Beasley racked up a game-high 23 points and 13 boards in the contest.

Our View:Beasley only needed 24 minutes to put up him impressive totals on Tuesday. He has been red hot since getting the starting nod and his double-double tonight was his third in as many games.
April 12, 2009
Michael Beasley got his second consecutive start and dominated the Knicks in the Heat's 112-105 win on Sunday. The rookie played 40 minutes, scored 28 points and grabbed 16 boards while shooting 12-of-19 from the field. He connected on all three of his three-point attempts and also blocked two shots.

Our View:In the final week of the season, we finally get to see what the rookie can do with starter's minutes. It took a Udonis Haslem thumb injury to get him in the lineup, but Beasley has not let us down. Over his last three games he has averaged 25.3 points and 12.7 rebounds while shooting 56.3 percent from the field.
April 10, 2009
Michael Beasley scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the Heat's 15-98 loss to the Celtics. He also collected two steals and a pair of assists.

Our View:Beasley made the most of his spot start in place of Jamario Moon. This was his first double-double since January 31st. If Friday's game is any indication of what he can do with more minutes the Heat would be silly to not keep him in a starting role. Expect big things next year.
April 10, 2009
According to the Miami Herald, Michael Beasley is in Friday's starting lineup against the Celtics.

Our View:Beasley gets the opportunity tonight due to an injury to Jamario Moon. The Celtics have a tough defense, but Beasley is an exciting young scorer and should still be worth a fantasy start.
April 7, 2009
Michael Beasley scored 25 points in 48 minutes off the bench in Miami's 93-87 loss to the Hornets on Tuesday evening.

Our View:Beasley had nine boards in the game, narrowly missing his sixth double-double of the season. You would think Beasley would get a start with Udonis Haslem now on the mend for the rest of the regular season, but apparently head coach Erik Spoelstra would rather put him in for 48 minutes than give the kid a place on the court for the opening tip.
April 4, 2009
Despite Udonis Haslem's unavailability against the Wizards on Saturday, Michael Beasley still came off of the bench as he backed up Jamaal Magloire. The rookie tallied 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists in 25 minutes of action.

Our View:How stubborn is Heat coach Erik Spoelstra? Apparently moreso than we anticipated. Haslem is out indefinitely with a cut thumb, but apparently Beasley will remain a reserve. Beasley has hada disappointing rookie season, but not because of his performance. He's simply not getting the opportunity in Miami that so many other rookies around the league are receiving. Hopefully he can surpass Haslem on the depth chart next season and start playing the starter's minutes he deserves.
March 20, 2009
Michael Beasley shot 8-of-11 from the floor and scored 17 points in 26 minutes in the Heat's 96-88 loss to the Nets Friday at IZOD Center.

Our View:Beasley has been a steady presence off the bench for Miami this season, but particularly this month. In 10 March games, he has averaged 14.5 points and 4.6 boards in 24.7 minutes.
March 18, 2009
Michael Beasley once again was a force off the bench as he scored a team high 21 points in just under 32 minutes. He added seven rebounds and two assists on the night.

Our View:Beasley still isn't starting, but he's putting up the numbers regardless. He was the Heat's best player in their 112-108 OT loss to the Celtics.
March 4, 2009
Michael Beasley needed 27 minutes off the bench to score a season-high 28 points as the Heat beat the Suns 135-129 on Wednesday. He hit 10-of-16 shots, had nine rebounds, and picked up two steals in the win.

Our View:Once Beasley gets starter's minutes, he will be a fantasy force. Until then, throw your frustrations at coach Erik Spoelstra who limits Beasley to playing only at power forward. He got more minutes than usual tonight as the disappointing Jermaine O'Neal fouled out in only 22 minutes.
February 27, 2009
Michael Beasley led the Heat with 23 points in 25 minutes in a 91-83 loss to the Hawks on Friday. He shot 10-of-16 from the field and also contributed five rebounds.

Our View:Erik Spoelstra is refusing to try the rookie at small forward, so he has been spelling Udonis Haslem and Jermaine O'Neal. It's really too bad as the most talented rookie in his class has been limited all season long.
February 15, 2009
Michael Beasley scored 29 points but the Rookies fell to the Sophomores 122-116 on Friday night.

Our View:Beasley looked like the best player in his class and he just might be. Unfortunately, he doesn't rank in the Top 10 of rookies in either starts or minutes played.
February 2, 2009
Michael Beasley scored 18 points in 22 minutes as the Heat defeated the Clippers on Monday. He also had seven rebounds in the big win.

Our View:Beasley has gone for double digits in 14 of his last 16 games, but he has not seen his minutes increase. Once they do, expect his production to increase as well.
January 31, 2009
Michael Beasley scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 27 minutes as the Heat were beaten 111-96 by the Dallas on Saturday.

Our View:This marked his fifth double-double of the season and his fifth of the month. It is bizarre that coach Erik Spoelstra insists on starting Yakhouba Diawara over the superior Beasley in Shawn Marion's continued absence.
January 30, 2009
Michael Beasley recorded a double-double on Friday by posting 11 points, 11 rebounds, and one assist in 23 minutes.

Our View:This was Beasley's first double-double in four games, which has resulted in him being dropped in some fantasy leagues. He's still owned in about 90 percent of leagues.
January 28, 2009
Michael Beasley came off of the bench for 16 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks as the Heat defeated the Wizards 93-71 on Wednesday.

Our View:What we liked about the rookie's performance is that he donned knee pads for the first time this season. Bruised knees have been rampant this season, yet few players have taken the hint. Perhaps Beasley is a quicker learner than we had assumed.
January 28, 2009
Michael Beasley has been nursing a sore knee but is expected to be fine for tonight's game against the Wizards, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:The rookie averages 12.5 points and 4.5 boards over two meetings with Washington this season, and could fare better in his third outing. He is worth consideration for deeper fantasy leagues.
January 21, 2009
Michael Beasley came off the bench to record a double-double on Wednesday, finishing with 17 points, 11 rebounds, two steals, and one assist.

Our View:This was Beasley's first double-double since he recorded one against the Kings on January 9th and his third of the month overall.
January 14, 2009
Michael Beasley shot 8-for-11 from the field and finished with 21 points as the Heat defeated the Bucks 102-99.

Our View:Beasley scored over 20 points for the third time in four games. It seems apparent that he is ready to handle a starting position and the Heat may move Shawn Marion to give it to him.
January 10, 2009
Michael Beasley scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Heat held off the Kings in overtime for a 119-115 win.

Our View:This may have been the rookie's best game of the season and he is beginning to play a bigger and bigger role for the Heat.
January 5, 2009
Michael Beasley came off the bench for a double-double on Monday, finishing with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists.

Our View:This gives Beasley two consecutive games in which he's scored in double figures.
