Newsbreakers
November 17, 2009
Al Thornton scored a game-high 30 points in Tuesday's 110-102 loss to the Hornets.

Our View:Thornton hit 12-of-17 shots from the field and was good for four rebounds, an assist and a steal in the game. The 30 points were easily a season high and he has now totaled 50 points in his last two games. Owners can't be sure where the sudden scoring burst has come from, but we don't expect anyone is complaining.

Al Thornton is no longer in the Clippers' starting lineup, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View:For now, Rasual Butler is ahead of him on the depth chart at small forward. Thornton believes the reason behind his slow start is that he has been pressing. After averaging 16.8 points per game a season ago, it's hard to imagine he'll be out of the lineup very long.

Al Thornton will be a game-time decision on Friday as he battles the flu, according to ClipsNation.com.

Our View:Thornton is off to a slow start this season, averaging just 8.2 points per game after averaging 16.8 a season ago. Expect him to round into form over the coming weeks.
October 14, 2009
Al Thornton had 18 points and four rebounds in the Clippers' 93-90 win over the Spurs on Wednesday. Thornton also hit his only three-point attempt of the game.

Our View:Thornton has been very good in this preseason, and he didn't slow down a bit tonight. He can contribute small totals in a bunch of different categories, but he should be a consistent scorer and a respectable rebounder consistently this season.
October 10, 2009
Al Thornton put up 12 points and six rebounds in the Clippers 97-85 preseason win over the Blazers on Friday.

Our View:Thornton was all over the court, dishing out three assists, grabbing two steals and blocking three shots in addition to his 12 points and six boards. The forward was one of LA's most consistent players last season, averaging almost 17 points in 71 games.
April 4, 2009
Al Thornton did not travel with his team to Denver for Saturday's game due to his bruised foot, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View:Thornton hopes to play against the Lakers on Sunday, but nothing is certain at this point. He has been the most reliable player for the Clippers in his sophomore season, as he has averaged 17 points and 37.6 minutes in 70 games to this point.
April 3, 2009
Al Thornton's MRI on his ailing foot came back negative for bone edema or fractures, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View:He will try to take the court Saturday against the Rockets, but could be limited as the ailment is still very painful. We will keep you posted on his status.
April 2, 2009
Al Thornton is hoping to play in Saturday's game at Denver after missing Wednesday's game with a foot injury, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View:Thornton racked up 19 points and seven boards in his last outing with the Nuggets, and would be worth penciling into fantasy lineups if given the green light to play Saturday.
March 5, 2009
Al Thornton finished Wednesday's 118-95 home loss to the Grizzlies with 25 points and five rebounds.

Our View:Thorton has been the only Clipper to appear in every game this season. His production varies, but that should probably be expected given that his supporting cast is constantly changing.
February 27, 2009
Al Thornton will be a game-time call for tonight's outing at Sacramento due to his sore foot, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:He was held to only eight points and one rebound over 32 minutes in his last meeting with the Kings, and he should be held out of fantasy lineups to be safe.
February 26, 2009
Al Thornton did not play in Wednesday's win over the Celtics due to a sore foot. He is considered day-to-day.

Our View:That's right the Clippers beat the Celtics without Thornton. They also lost Eric Gordon to a shoulder injury in the third quarter, but they road Zach Randolph to the victory.
February 25, 2009
Al Thornton is day-to-day while nursing a sore foot, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:His status for tonight's home game against the Celtics is yet to be decided.
February 23, 2009
Al Thornton is questionable for tonight's game against Golden State, according to ClipsNation.com. He is nursing a sore foot.

Our View:Thornton would be worth starting if able to play, and he notched 17 points, seven boards, three assists, two steals and two blocks in his last meeting with the Warriors.
February 19, 2009
Al Thornton strained his arch during Wednesday's outing with the Suns, according to the LA Times.

Our View:He was able to finish the game, and should be fine for Sunday's battle at Portland.
February 19, 2009
Al Thornton tallied a team-high 33 points Wednesday evening in the Clippers' 142-119 embarrassment at the hands of the Suns at STAPLES Center.

Our View:Thornton missed matching his season-high by one point. Perhaps some improvement on that 5-for-9 mark from the line would have created a new season-high.
February 7, 2009
Al Thornton scored 31 points to lead the Clippers to a 121-97 win in Atlanta on Saturday. He shot 13-of-22 from the field while collecting seven rebounds and six assists.

Our View:The best news about tonight's performance is that he did it with Baron Davis, Zach Randolph, and Marcus Camby in the lineup. However, Thornton has shown he is prone to inconsistency. He scored in single digits in three of his previous four games. In the other game, he scored 27 points.
February 4, 2009
Al Thornton scored 27 points and grabbed five rebounds in nearly 37 minutes of action as the Clippers were crushed 125-96 by the Magic on Wednesday.

Our View:Despite the game being out of hand from the start, coach Mike Dunleavy kept running Thornton out there. The second-year player has averaged 38 minutes per game this season, and there remains the potential that he burns out. However, the Clippers are slowly getting more healthy, so his minutes may be reduced some after the All-Star break.
January 27, 2009
Al Thornton scored a team-high 23 points in Monday's home loss to Portland. He also tallied five rebounds, three steals, and one assist.

Our View:Thornton has recorded 74 points over his last three games for an average of 24.7 during that span.
January 24, 2009
Al Thornton scored a season-high 34 points on 13-of-28 shooting to help lead the Clippers to a 107-104 win over the Thunder on Friday night. Thornton combined with guard Eric Gordon, who scored a career-high 41, to record 70 percent of LA's offense.

Our View:In the process of setting a season-high for points, Thornton also set a new mark for field-goal attempts. He shot the ball seven more times Friday than he had in any other game this season.
January 22, 2009
Al Thornton recorded 20 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals in Wednesday's loss to the Lakers.

Our View:Thornton has scored 20+ in three of the Clippers' last five games, resulting in a bump in his fantasy value. He is now owned in over 80 percent of fantasy leagues.
January 15, 2009
Al Thornton hit 9-of-16 shots to finish with 25 points in the Clippers 80-97 loss to the Hawks on Wednesday. He grabbed nine rebounds and blocked two shots in the loss.

Our View:Thornton has seen his role increase substantially in the absence of Zach Randolph. However, don't expect Randolph to be out much longer. It may be time to shop Thornton.
January 8, 2009
Al Thornton shot over 50 percent from the floor Thursday night as he scored 21 points in a 106-84 loss to the Spurs.

Our View:Since Dec. 20, Thornton has averaged over 16 points a game, but the Clippers failed to win one of those nine games.
