November 4, 2009
Updating a previous report, Yi Jianlian's knee injury has been diagnosed as a Grade 1 sprain, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. He will be out from 2-6 weeks.

Our View:No telling exactly how long he'll be out, as the timetable is quite broad, but this type of injury typically heals within a month. Eduardo Najera, Bobby Simmons, Josh Boone and Sean Williams will benefit from Jianlan's absence and should see an increase in playing time, but none are fantasy worthy. Jianlan averaged 9.8 PPG and 7.5 RPG before injuring the knee.

InsideHoops.com is reporting that Yi Jianlian is out indefinitely after spraining his knee in the Nets loss to the Bobcats on Monday.

Our View:Yi is averaging 9.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game through four games this season. He missed a combined 37 games with injury in his first two years in the league, so this certainly comes as no surprise. His injury will likely force the Nets to give Eduardo Najera more playing time.

Yi Jianlian left Monday's game against the Bobcats with a knee injury. He did not return to action after being helped of fthe floor by teammates.

Our View:We will update Yi's condition when it is released by the team, so stay tuned. The Nets can't afford to be without him for long, as they are already without starting point guard Devin Harris.
October 29, 2009
The Nets have exercised Yi Jianlian's option for the 2010-11 season, according to ESPN. The option is for his fourth year, and he will earn just over $4MM.

Our View:The Nets exercised Jianlian's option after generating 17 points and 12 rebounds in the season opener against Minnesota. He may finally be ready to take the next step in his development this season.
October 27, 2009
Despite "banging" his knee in practice on Monday, Yi Jianlian expects to be able to play in the Nets' season opener on Wednesday, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:Fantasy owners can now breath a collective sigh of indifference. While it's possible he could take a step forward this season, he doesn't figure to post significantly better numbers than the 8.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game he averaged a season ago.
October 23, 2009
Yi Jianlian led the Nets in tonight's 110-88 preseason win over the Sixers, as he generated 22 points and a game-high 11 boards over 39 minutes. He also chipped in one assist and a block.

Our View:Jianlian continues to perform well in exhibition games, and is worth a look as a late-round flier in fantasy leagues.
October 16, 2009
Yi Jianlian was a standout for the Nets in Friday's 93-89 preseason loss to the Knicks, as he poured in 21 points, 11 boards, one steal and two blocks. He played 29:35 minutes.

Our View:Jianlian has potential to be a solid fantasy forward, evidenced by tonight's strong performance. He is worth targeting as a late-round flier in fantasy leagues.
October 11, 2009
Yi Jianlian finished Sunday's preseason game with 20 points and eight rebounds, but the Nets fell to the Celtics 100-93. Yi had four turnovers and did not manage an assist.

Our View:Yi looked good for the most part today, but the knock on him is that he is only interested in being a shooter, so the zero assists would back that up. He has the potential to be a very good scorer, but he showed last year that he is a roller coaster fantasy player.
May 17, 2009
Yi Jianlian was benched this season for failing to produce, and the Nets would reportedly like to trade him, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:Yi needs work on his defense, namely as a rebounder, but the Nets feel he is only interested in being a shooter. His passing skills are suspect as well.
March 30, 2009
Yi Jianlian played 19 minutes off of the bench in Monday's 107-78 loss to the Bucks. He finished with 11 points, two treys, two boards, and a block against his former team.

Our View:Yi appears to have fallen out of favor with Lawrence Frank and he only holds value in deep leagues because of it. The potential is still there, but it appears that he is destined for a reserve role for the remainder of the season behind rookie Ryan Anderson.
February 23, 2009
Yi Jianlian was back in the starting lineup for the Nets in their 98-96 win over the 76ers on Monday. He played 30 minutes and finished with seven points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals, a three-pointer and one block in the win.

Our View:Yi missed over a month with a broken pinky, but he should be in the starting lineup for the remainder of the way for the Nets. The 20-year-old holds a load of potential and he is a reasonable roster player in many fantasy formats.
February 23, 2009
Yi Jianlian is set to return to the Nets' starting lineup tonight against Philadelphia, according to the NY Post.

Our View:The Nets feel ready to return him to the starting lineup, so fantasy owners in deeper leagues should consider doing the same.
February 16, 2009
NetsDaily.com reports that Yi Jianlian will return from his broken pinky for Tuesday's game against Yao Ming and the Rockets. He still has swelling on the hand and would likely have the digit taped to his ring finger.

Our View:Jianlian has not played since January 9 so there is plenty of reason to be wary of putting him in your lineups this week. However, assuming he is healthy, he should return to his starting role very soon.
February 10, 2009
The New York Post reports that forward Yi Jianlian is making progress in practice after breaking a pinkie finger early last month and may be healthy enough to join the team on its road trip after the All-Star break. "He is doing more active shooting drills and making really good progress," GM Kiki Vandeweghe said. "When is he back? I can't say because it just takes time for the bone to heal. But I would expect he'll have a heavier work load next week."

Our View:Yi, who hasn't played since Jan. 9, will undergo another exam at the end of this week.
January 9, 2009
Updating a previous report, Yi Jianlian is expected to be out for at least a month after breaking his pinky in Friday night's loss to the Bucks, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:This comes at a terrible time for Yi who had been playing his best basketball of late. The injury should open up more playing time for Josh Boone and rookie Ryan Anderson.
January 9, 2009
Yi Jianlian scored 16 points on his former teams as the Nets lost to Milwaukee 102-104 on Friday. He was 3-for-4 from three-point range. The AP reports that he broke his pinky in the loss.

Our View:Yi has now hit double figures in four straight games, marking his best stretch of the season. No word if the injury will keep him out of game action, but it is on his shooting hand.
January 7, 2009
Yi Jianlian scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds as the Nets defeated the Grizzlies 100-89 on Wednesday.

Our View:Yi has had a nice start to the month after a poor December. He won't shoot under 40 percent all season, and he should be able to step it up in the second half.
January 5, 2009
Yi Jianlian had his best overall performance of the season on Monday, scoring 22 points to go with 13 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.

Our View:Yi has been inconsistent all season as this was only the third time that he has scored 20+ points in a game in 35 contests.
