Newsbreakers
November 13, 2009
David Lee had another solid effort with 17 points and eight rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Knicks fell to the Warriors 121-107.

Our View:Lee is a double-double machine, but just missed out on one in Friday's game. Normally the big man is good for one every night he's on the floor, but this season he's only collected two in ten games.
November 7, 2009
The Knicks' struggles continued on Saturday, but big man David Lee was his usual self in the 102-87 loss to the Bucks. Lee scored 18 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished four assists in the win.

Our View:The seven boards is a bit low for Lee, but his 18 points were right around his average for the season. There won't be many nights when he doesn't post a double-double, so fantasy owners shouldn't worry too much about his lack of rebounding over the past two games.
November 6, 2009
David Lee scored a team-high 21 points in Friday's 100-91 loss to Cleveland, to go along with six rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Our View:Lee failed to reach a double-double, but still had a quality performance for fantasy owners. He averages 23 points over his last three games.
November 4, 2009
David Lee had another huge night for the Knicks on Wednesday, but New York still feel to the Pacers by a score of 101-89. Lee scored 20 points and grabbed 19 rebounds in the game.

Our View:Lee is averaging a double-double already this season, but he was just a monster tonight with 19 rebounds. He might not be the flashiest player in the league, but he is a rock-solid fantasy performer and should not be taken for granted.
November 2, 2009
David Lee led the way for the Knicks on Monday as New York defeated the Hornets 117-111. Lee had 28 points on 13-for-17 shooting in the game.

Our View:Lee had eight rebounds and three assists in the win as well, so another nice fantasy night for him. He is a consistent fantasy producer, especially in points and rebounds, and he should continue to be so all season.
October 30, 2009
David Lee was a standout for the Knicks in tonight's 102-100 loss at Charlotte, as he racked up 17 points and a game-high 18 boards. He also had three assists, one steal and two blocks.

Our View:Lee played 50 minutes, and collected his first double-double of 2009-10.
October 28, 2009
The man the Knicks didn't want back last offseason, David Lee, led the team with 22 points and nine rebounds on Wednesday. They sill lost 115-93 to the Heat, however.

Our View:Lee can be counted on for a double-double every night in 2009-10.
October 20, 2009
David Lee led the Knicks with a double-double in Tuesday's 108-103 preseason win over the Celtics, as he racked up 19 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. He also had three assists and a steal, and played 19 minutes.

Our View:Lee is a marquee star in the Big Apple, and should be a strong front-court option for fantasy owners this season.
October 16, 2009
David Lee collected a double-double in Friday's 93-89 preseason win over the Nets, as he generated 20 points and 14 rebounds. He also chipped in two assists and a steal, and only played 24 minutes.

Our View:Lee looks to be headed for a strong 2009-10 campaign, especially with the motivation of playing for a new contract.
October 4, 2009
David Lee drained 20 points and grabbed nine boards in Sunday's 115-107 preseason win over the Nets.

Our View:The double-double machine just missed out on one today. He hit 9-of-15 shots and tacked on two assists, two steals and a blocked shot to compliment his other gaudy totals. He averaged 16 PPG and 11.7 RPG a year ago.
September 24, 2009
The New York Times is reporting that the Knicks have agreed to a one-year deal with David Lee. The contract could be worth up to $8 million with incentives, and it is expected to be finalized as soon as Thursday night.

Our View:Lee averaged 16 points last season to go with 11 rebounds, and he will spend one more year in the Big Apple. Lee will be unrestricted after this season, and he figures to land a wealthy long-term deal next summer.
September 4, 2009
According to ESPN, the Knicks will make restricted free agent David Lee a one-year offer worth between $6-8 million after Labor Day.

Our View:It's amazing how little scratch averaging a double-double can apparently get you. Expect Lee to finally get his desired long-term contract next summer.
September 2, 2009
Knicks president Donnie Walsh said on Wednesday that he believes free agent forward David Lee will re-sign with the team soon, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:The Knicks have low-balled Lee, who averaged 16 points and 11.7 rebounds per game in 2008-09, all offseason, but things are apparently finally moving along. Lee had hoped to receive a multi-year contract worth at least $10 million per year this summer, but will likely settle for something in the one year, $7 million range.
August 27, 2009
According to the New York Post, David Lee's agent stated that it is a possibility that his client could remain unsigned heading into training camp.

Our View:It would be very odd if something wasn't done before camp, so Lee's agent is likely just trying to grease the wheels here. Lee apparently will not accept the $2.5 million qualifying offer and has denied reports that he was offered a one-year deal between $5 and $6 million. It's almost unheard-of that he would enter camp unsigned so expect a deal in the near future.
August 4, 2009
CBSSports.com reports that David Lee is now open to signing a one-year deal to remain with the Knicks. His agent, Mark Bartelstein, says the Knicks are open minded and willing to listen to sign-and-trade scenarios.

Our View:It's peculiar that Lee is still on the market as he was considered one of the best free agents coming into the offseason. Given the available cap space left around the league, it's almost a lock that he is signed by the Knicks, but he could also be traded shortly afterwards.
July 25, 2009
According to the New York Daily News, restricted free agent David Lee is likely heading back to New York for one more season after the team missed out on signing Andre Miller. Miller signed with the Blazers, the only team that was said to be showing an interest in Lee.

Our View:Lee averaged a double-double last season, but he isn't getting any love around this league so far this summer. It looks like he will head back to the Knicks for one more year, the test the waters as an unrestricted free agent next summer. Lee is a hard worker and a guy who puts up solid numbers, and he is always a nice fantasy sleeper, although he is less under the radar now after averaging 16 points and 11.7 boards last year.
July 23, 2009
David Lee is displeased that the Knicks have not yet offered him a new deal after setting new highs in scoring (16 points per game) and rebounding (11.7 per game) in 2008-09, according to Newsday.

Our View:Lee is frustrated that his four years of hard work has not resulted in a new long-term deal, and he is now thinking about other options beyond the Knicks.
July 20, 2009
David Lee is not close to deal with the Knicks, according to the New York Post.

Our View:It's puzzling why the Knicks haven't been more aggressive in locking Lee, one of only a handful of players to average a double double last season, up, but he apparently is not that hot of a commodity on the free agent market, and will likely end up coming back to the Knicks for $7 or $8 million a season. Stay tuned.
July 18, 2009
Knicks president Donnie Walsh expects to David Lee to either sign an offer sheet from Portland next week or to agree to the Knicks' five year offer, according to the New York Post.

Our View:Lee believes the deal the Knicks are offering him is below his market value, and has been reluctant to resign. Odds are he'll probably stay in New York, though, and after flourishing in Mike D'Antoni's system last season, he's a good bet to be a very good option at forward and center this year.
July 17, 2009
According to the Associated Press, David Lee did not participate in Team USA's mini-camp this summer because of uncertainty surrounding his contract status.

Our View:The restricted free agent looks to be concentrating on where he'll end up next season and for how much. We'll ballpark him going back to the Knicks for less than he hoped. He hasn't garnered much interest in the offseason due to his high price tag.
July 4, 2009
The Blazers are in "serious discussions" with restricted free agent forward David Lee, according to ESPN.

Our View:All-in-all, over a dozen teams are said to be interested in the Knicks' Lee. Of course, the scrappy forward is a restricted free agent, so the Knicks would have the right to match any offer, making a sign-and-trade a strong possibility. The Blazers have many young, up-and-coming players, so they would be a logical trade partner.
July 2, 2009
According to Hoopsworld.com, the Raptors are interested in free agent David Lee.

Our View:The Grizzlies were going hard after Lee, but ownership didn't want to pay up, so they settled for the less expensive Zach Randolph. Now the Raptors lead the charge for Lee, but the Tunder are said to be interested as well. If he doesn't get a big pay day from either of those suitors, expect him to return to the Knicks.
July 1, 2009
According to Yahoo! Sports, the Grizzlies are interested in restricted free agent David Lee and are prepared to offer him anywhere from $40-50 million.

Our View:A lot of teams are interested in Lee, and he's looking for a deal worth about $10 million a year for at least five years. The Grizzlies look like they're prepared to do that and the Knicks might lose Lee and not get any return on him.
June 26, 2009
The New York Post says the Knicks are unlikely to keep restricted free agent David Lee after drafting Jordan Hill and trading for Darko Milicic.

Our View:He could still be used for a sign-and-trade, but it looks like Lee's Mike D'Antoni days are over. While he may not average the 16.7 PPG he did last season playing for another coach in 2009-10, he should still grab more than enough rebounds to be a solid fantasy option at power forward or center.
June 21, 2009
According to the New York Post, Portland seems to be the most likely destination for Knick-turned free agent (this summer) David Lee.

Our View:Lee will likely command around $7-$10 million per year and the Knicks (plus the interested party) will probably have to do a sign-and-trade. Detroit is rumored to be interested as well, but there should be no problem finding someone to snatch up the man who averaged 16 PPG and 11.7 RPG last season.
June 8, 2009
The Knicks are exploring sign-and-trade options with free agent forward David Lee according to the Detroit Free Press.

Our View:It is said to be a cost-cutting attempt by the Knicks. Lee continued to be a solid fantasy option in 2009, averaging 16 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. He has been successful in a variety of different systems and should not see his value diminish if he is traded.
April 29, 2009
The Knicks want to re-sign David Lee this summer, but general manager Donnie Walsh may balk if the big man's asking price gets up to $10 million per season. "My job is done," Lee tells the New York Post. "It's up to Mr. Walsh and [agent Mark] Bartlestein." He led the NBA with 65 double-doubles in 2008-09.

Our View:There's no doubt that Lee is coming off a breakout campaign, but the Knicks are one of the many teams who want to keep their cap room open for the summer of 2010. At that point, they should be key contenders for the services of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, or Chris Bosh. It would seem dumb of the Knicks not to try hard to keep a high-character, hard-working, productive guy like Lee, though.
April 15, 2009
David Lee scored 12 points to go with a dozen rebounds in the Knicks 102-73 thrashing of the Nets in the regular season finale on Wednesday.

Our View:Lee should get a nice contract after this season. He was a master of the double-double and put up very impressive numbers all season. Tonight's double-double marked his 12th in 13 games.
April 10, 2009
David Lee scored 20 points to compliment his game-high 16 rebounds as the Knicks topped the Magic 105-95 Friday.

Our View:Lee also had four assists and a steal and hit half of his shots, going 7-of-14 from the field. He now has three double-doubles in his last four games.
April 5, 2009
David Lee had another double-double on Sunday as the Knicks beat the Raptors 112-103. He scored 16 points and pulled down ten rebounds.

Our View:Lee is a rebounding machine and is averaging almost 12 per game for the entire season. He also leads the league in double-doubles. His timing is right on as well. He'll be a free agent after this season.
March 30, 2009
David Lee picked up 21 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals as the Knicks fell in Utah 112-104 on Monday. He hit 8-of-14 shots while committing only one turnover.

Our View:Lee continues to lead the league in double-doubles, and he will be a hotly sought after restricted free-agent in the offseason. The Knicks should be able to retain him, but with an eye on the summer of 2010, it is not a given.
March 28, 2009
Fourteen points and 10 rebounds was the stat line for the Knicks' David Lee in his team's 96-85 loss to the Bobcats.

Our View:Lee had his streak of five double-doubles stop during the Knicks recent six-game losing streak, but he's started another one, with three in a row.
March 25, 2009
David Lee played through a sore right knee on Wednesday as the Knicks fell 140-135 in overtime to the Clippers. He finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, and three steals, while shooting 7-for-7 from the field.

Our View:Another very strong game from Lee, although he did commit more than five turnovers in the game. He matched up most of the night with former teammate Zach Randolph and allowed him to score 33 points.
March 25, 2009
David Lee is expected to play in tonight's game against the Clippers, according to the NY Post. He has been nursing a sore right knee.

Our View:Lee should be fine to employ in fantasy lineups. He hauled in 17 points and 12 boards in his last battle with the Clippers.
March 21, 2009
David Lee was held out of the game Saturday due to a sore right knee. He inured earlier in the Month against Milwaukee. He is considered day-to-day.

Our View:Lee is averaging a double-double this season and is a solid big man and fantasy starter. Keep an eye on him and get him back into your lineup when he returns to action.
March 13, 2009
David Lee, who sprained his right knee against Milwaukee on Tuesday, was wearing a thick brace around his knee on Friday morning as the Knicks prepared for their matchup against Minnesota later in the night, according to Newsday.

Our View:No need to worry here, as he'll play with the injury, as he did on Wednesday when he dropped 16 points and 18 rebounds on Detroit. He remains one of the most consistent big men in the league.
March 11, 2009
David Lee had 16 points and 18 rebounds in New York's 116-111 win over the Pistons on Wednesday.

Our View:Lee has now collected 18 rebounds in consecutive games. He is second only to Dwight Howard in rebounds per game this season, but he has two more double-doubles than the Magic center.
March 10, 2009
David Lee had a double-double in the Knicks 120-112 win over the Bucks on Tuesday. Lee had 19 points and 18 boards in the win.

Our View:Lee has had only four games this season where he has grabbed 18 or more rebounds. He is averaging a double-double this season and continues to be a solid fantasy option for owners.
March 10, 2009
David Lee sat out Monday's practice while nursing sore knees, but he is expected to play in tonight's game at Milwaukee, according to Newsday.

Our View:Lee should be fine to pencil into fantasy lineups. He racked up 14 points and 14 boards in his last meeting with the Bucks.
March 8, 2009
David Lee posted yet another double-double Sunday, scoring 19 points and grabbing 14 boards in a loss to the Nets.

Our View:A 10-point, seven-rebound performance against Charlotte on Saturday night ended a string of 24 consecutive double-doubles for Lee.
March 7, 2009
David Lee scored 10 points while grabbing seven rebounds against Charlotte on Saturday, ending his streak of consecutive double-doubles at 24 games.

Our View:Hey, it had to end at some point, right? Had it not been for an eight-rebound game on Dec. 21 and a nine-rebound effort on Jan. 12, the streak actually would have been an insane 38 games, nearly half a season. Lee remains a stud at power forward/center, regardless of the lack of blocks.
March 4, 2009
David Lee scored 13 points while taking just eight shots in the Knicks 109-105 win over the Hawks on Wednesday. He also had 14 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks in the game.

Our View:If there's a knock on Lee, it's the fact that he blocks just 0.3 shots per game. That's a terrible number for a center, but leading the league in double-doubles makes up for it.
February 28, 2009
David Lee posted 18 points and 13 rebounds on Saturday in a 120-115 loss to the Heat.

Our View:Lee is on an incredible run for the Knicks, posting 23 consecutive double-doubles for the club.
February 23, 2009
David Lee got his 20th straight double-double for the Knicks on Monday. He posted 20 points and 13 rebounds as the Knicks defeated the Pacers 123-119.

Our View:Lee has become more aggressive on the offensive end as the season burns along. This is certainly a good thing for fantasy owners as he has hit 55.8 percent of his field goals on the season.
February 22, 2009
David Lee collected typical numbers in Sunday's loss to the Raptors, finishing with 17 points, 15 boards, three assists, and one steal.

Our View:This was Lee's 18th consecutive double-double. It was also his third straight game with 10+ rebounds on the defensive boards.
February 17, 2009
David Lee did what he usually does for the Knicks in their 112-107 win over the Spurs, scoring 13 points to go with 12 rebounds.

Our View:Lee also had four assists and three steals. The double-double was his 16th consecutive.
February 11, 2009
David Lee posted his 15th consecutive double-double Tuesday night, with a team-high 27 points and 11 rebounds in the Knicks' 144-127 loss to Golden State.

Our View:In five games this month, Lee is averaging 21.6 points and 12.4 boards. Lee has had only two games since Dec. 21 in which he has failed to record a double-double.
February 8, 2009
David Lee logged another double-double on Sunday, finishing with 29 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists as the Knicks fell 109-108 to the Blazers.

Our View:Lee is shockingly available in about 10 percent of fantasy leagues, even after recording 14 consecutive double-doubles. He's definitely worth signing if he's still available in your league.
February 6, 2009
David Lee had one of his typical games on Friday, finishing with 18 points, 18 rebounds, and one assist.

Our View:Lee has recorded 13 consecutive double-doubles for the Knicks. It's a crime that Lee wasn't placed on the Eastern Conference's All-Star roster.
February 3, 2009
The New York Daily News reports that Knicks forward David Lee could be added to the Eastern Conference roster for the upcoming All-Star Game on Feb. 15 in Phoenix. Lee was not originally selected to the squad, but there's a good chance he could replace Orlando Magic guard Jameer Nelson, who separated his shoulder Monday night. Commissioner David Stern will chose Nelson's replacement.

Our View:It's a crime Lee was not picked as an All-Star in the first place. The 25-year-old is second in the league in double-doubles, behind only Orlando's Dwight Howard.
February 2, 2009
David Lee scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Knicks fell to the Lakers 126-117 on Monday.

Our View:If there's a more consistent player in the league than Lee, we're not aware of him. Lee is tied with Dwight Howard for the lead league in double-doubles.
February 2, 2009
The NBA named David Lee as the Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

Our View:Lee averaged 19.0 points and 15.3 rebounds while leading the Knicks to a 3-0 record last week. While his lack of blocks are bothersome for a man at his position, he's still been a fantasy stud of late and his average of 13.3 rebounds per game over the last month are second only to Dwight Howard's 14.2.
January 31, 2009
David Lee recorded his 35th double-double of the season as the Knicks defeated the Pacers 122-113 on Saturday. He scored 23 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.

Our View:It was another strong performance without a block for Lee. It would be easy to call him one of the best fantasy big men in the game, except for the fact that he is blocking only 0.3 shots per game.
January 31, 2009
The New York Post reports that Knicks big man David Lee isn't likely to be traded this season.

Our View:There had been rumors that the team might look to move Lee because he can be a restricted free agent after the season. Being restricted means the Knicks can match any offer Lee gets. He reportedly wants around $10 million per season.
January 28, 2009
David Lee picked up his 34th double-double on Wednesday as the Knicks defeated the Hawks 112-104. He finished the game with 17 points and 16 rebounds.

Our View:Lee is now tied with Dwight Howard for the league lead in double-doubles. The 25-year-old does not provide many blocks and turns the ball over too often, but he remains one of the top fantasy big men for his consistent work on the glass.
January 26, 2009
David Lee registered another ho-hum double-double (17 points, 13 rebounds) Monday night in New York's 104-98 win over Houston at Madison Square Garden.

Our View:As impressive as Lee has been this season (33 double-doubles), he still trails Dwight Howard by more than two rebounds per game (13.9 to 11.7).
January 24, 2009
David Lee picked up a double-double on Saturday, finishing with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists.

Our View:Lee ran his current double-double streak to six games with this contest. His longest streak this year was 10 games, running from mid-November to mid-December.
January 24, 2009
David Lee recorded a double-double with 19 points and 14 boards Friday night as the Knicks toppled the Grizzlies at home 108-88. It was Lee's sixth consecutive double-double.

Our View:Lee has failed to record at least 10 rebounds in a game four times since Nov. 18. With a few more boards in each of those games, Lee could easily be on a streak of 32 consecutive double-doubles.
January 21, 2009
David Lee was outstanding for the Knicks on Wednesday, posting 25 points, 16 rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Our View:Lee has recorded double-doubles in five straight for the Knicks, and 10-of-11 games in January.
January 20, 2009
David Lee did not practice today while nursing an ankle ailment, but he is expected to play Wednesday against the Suns, according to Newsday.

Our View:Lee notched 15 points and 12 boards in his last meeting with Phoenix, and will be aiming for his fifth straight double-double on Wednesday. He should remain active in lineups despite his ailment.
January 16, 2009
David Lee was all over the boards on Friday night for the Knicks, finishing with 21 rebounds. He also contributed 15 points and four assists.

Our View:This game tied Lee's season-high in rebounds, as he also posted 21 boards on November 29th against the Warriors.
January 14, 2009
David Lee led the Knicks in scoring for the second straight game and led his team to their second straight win. Lee finished with 30 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and two steals as New York defeated the Wizards 128-122 on Wednesday.

Our View:Lee is showing a new side of himself by being so aggressive on the offensive end. Despite recent trade rumors, the Knicks would be wise to hold onto him until this summer when they would be able to pull off a sign and trade for the coveted big man.
January 12, 2009
David Lee finished with 24 points, nine rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block in Monday's 101-95 win over the Hornets.

Our View:Lee fell one rebound shy of extending his double-double streak to nine games on Monday. He'll look to start a new one on Wednesday when the Knicks host the Wizards. His longest such streak of the year is 10 games, which ran from November 21st to December 9th.
January 10, 2009
David Lee posted 14 points, 11 rebounds, one assist, and one steal on Saturday.

Our View:Lee's a double-double machiine and has ran his current double-double streak to eight games.
January 10, 2009
The Knicks may be inclined to sign David Lee to a long-term deal rather than trade him before the deadline, Newsday reports. Lee is due to be a restricted free agent next summer.

Our View:Contrary to popular belief, the Knicks won't get rid of every player before trying to sign LeBron James in the summer of 2010. Lee has averaged 15.4 points and 12.4 boards in his 27 starts this season and continues to expand his offensive game.
January 8, 2009
David Lee finished Thursday's 99-94 loss to the Mavericks with 13 points and 15 rebounds, his seventh double-double in as many games.

Our View:Lee, who has recently been the subject of trade rumors in New York, has not averaged less than 14 points a game in any month this season, including 16.8 points a game in January.
January 6, 2009
The Knicks suffered an embarrassing loss to the Thunder, but David Lee had yet another double-double, scoring 14 points with 13 rebounds.

Our View:That's the sixth straight double dip for Lee, and the tenth in his last 11 games.
January 5, 2009
Looking to shake things up, the Knicks are reportedly using forward David Lee as a bargaining chip for a potential deal leading up to the Feb. 19 trading deadline, according to Newsday.

Our View:One report insists the Knicks have been contacted by the Portland Trailblazers about a deal involving Lee and Portland's Channing Frye and Jerryd Bayless. Portland has agreed to offer backup guard Sergio Rodriguez as part of a two-player, straight-up deal, but the Knicks seem to be asking for more in return for Lee, who is enjoying a fine season.
January 4, 2009
David Lee recorded yet another double-double as the Knicks defeated the Celtics on Sunday. He finished with 14 points, 14 rebounds, and two blocks.

Our View:Only Chris Paul and Dwight Howard have more double-doubles than David Lee. More blocked shots would significantly increase his fantasy value. He is currently averaging just 0.3 blocks per game.
January 2, 2009
David Lee recorded a double-double in Friday's 105-103 loss to the Pacers, with 26 points and 11 rebounds. He also had three assists and five steals.

Our View:He recorded his fourth straight double-double, but the Knicks lost three times over the span. Lee should remain a favorable fantasy option despite the Knicks' woes.
