The team said it is nothing to be concerned about, but he was kept out as a precaution. Our View:Kidd could have continued to play, but no reason to push it at this point in the preseason. He shouldn't miss any time because of the ankle, so nothing to worry about here. |

June 30, 2009 Jason Kidd is expected to be in New York on Wednesday to meet with the Knicks about potentially signing with them as a free agent this summer, but Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has also flown there to convince the veteran point guard to stay with the team, according to the Dallas Morning News. Our View:Kidd is obviously past his prime, but was effective in Dallas last season, averaging nine points and nearly nine assists per game to go along with 6.2 rebounds. He also shot above 40 percent from the three point line for only the second time in his career. He would probably be a good fit for Mike D'Antoni's uptempo system, but the Mavericks should be considered the favorite to keep him at this point. |

He added that for Kidd to be most effective the team will also need to add scoring. Our View:Kidd has had an unquestioned Hall-of-Fame career, but he has no championship ring to show for it. You have to think that will factor into his decision this summer. That makes him taking less money to sign with a team like the Lakers, who need a point guard, even more likely. |
