Jason Kidd chipped in 19 points in tonight's 96-85 win over the Jazz. He also contributed five rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Our View:Kidd had a game-high seven turnovers, but fantasy owners should still be pleased with his statline. He only scored a total of nine points over his previous three outings.
October 11, 2009
Jason Kidd's ankle appeared fine in Sunday night's win over the Grizzlies. He only took four shots but finished with a line of five points, six rebounds, six assists, and five steals in 29 minutes.

Our View:Kidd is going to hurt owners in the scoring department, but that is generally the easiest category to make up for. His production in the other departments still makes him worthy a No. 1 fantasy point guard.
October 8, 2009
The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Mavericks' point guard Jason Kidd sat out the end of practice on Thursday after tweaking his ankle. The team said it is nothing to be concerned about, but he was kept out as a precaution.

Our View:Kidd could have continued to play, but no reason to push it at this point in the preseason. He shouldn't miss any time because of the ankle, so nothing to worry about here.
July 11, 2009
Jason Kidd has officially inked a three-year deal to remain with the Mavericks, according to the Dallas Morning News. The contract is worth at least $25MM.

Our View:The Knicks wanted to add Kidd, but offered less money than Dallas. The club decided to retain him after averaging nine points, 8.7 assists and two steals per game last season.
July 5, 2009
Jason Kidd has verbally agreed to re-sign with the Mavericks, according to ESPN. He will receive a three-year, fully-guaranteed contract worth over $25MM.

Our View:The 36-year-old vet has decided to stay in Dallas rather than join the Knicks. New York offered less money than Dallas, and the Mavericks are a much better team right now.
July 1, 2009
According to the New York Daily News, Jason Kidd met with the Knicks for three hours on Wednesday.

Our View:Looks like the Knicks are trying to pry Kidd away from Dallas. His kids live in New York and he would love to play for coach Mike D'Antoni, but Cuban and the Mavs can offer Kidd big bucks. This could also be a ploy to get more money out of Dallas.
July 1, 2009
Updating a previous report, Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban said Tuesday night's meeting with free agent Jason Kidd went great, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:It looks like Kidd will return to the Mavs after all. Details still have to be worked out, and he can't sign anything until July 8th, but Cuban seems optimistic that Kidd will return.
June 30, 2009
Jason Kidd is expected to be in New York on Wednesday to meet with the Knicks about potentially signing with them as a free agent this summer, but Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has also flown there to convince the veteran point guard to stay with the team, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:Kidd is obviously past his prime, but was effective in Dallas last season, averaging nine points and nearly nine assists per game to go along with 6.2 rebounds. He also shot above 40 percent from the three point line for only the second time in his career. He would probably be a good fit for Mike D'Antoni's uptempo system, but the Mavericks should be considered the favorite to keep him at this point.
June 11, 2009
Mark Cuban tells the Dallas Morning News that the Mavericks definitely want to re-sign Jason Kidd this summer. He added that for Kidd to be most effective the team will also need to add scoring.

Our View:Kidd has had an unquestioned Hall-of-Fame career, but he has no championship ring to show for it. You have to think that will factor into his decision this summer. That makes him taking less money to sign with a team like the Lakers, who need a point guard, even more likely.
May 13, 2009
Jason Kidd notched 19 points and nine assists in the Mavericks' loss to the Nuggets Wednesday. The Mavs were eliminated with the 124-110 loss.

Our View:Kidd shot the ball well tonight, but it just wasn't enough for the Mavs. The Nuggets were the better team in the series, and there was nothing Kidd could do about it in the end.
May 3, 2009
Jason Kidd was one of three Mavericks to put up 15 points on Sunday, but they got stunned by the Nuggets and fell 109-95 in Game One. Kidd had four rebounds, four assists and four steals as well.

Our View:Kidd didn't shoot much, but was on when he did. He drained 6-of-10 from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point land. That being said, he didn't get involved enough to put up big numbers or earn the Mavericks a W.
April 20, 2009
Jason Kidd looked fine during the shootaround and is good to go for tonight's Game 2 at San Antonio, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:Kidd was feeling sick over the weekend, but is slated to start at point guard. He chipped in four points, eight boards, five assists and two steals in Game 1, which Dallas won 105-97.
April 19, 2009
The Associated Press reports that Jason Kidd is expected to play in Game 2 on Monday against the Spurs despite being sick this weekend.

Our View:Kidd was vomiting on the bench in Game 1 and still manage to play well. The veteran has never won a championship, and there's not a whole lot that would keep him out of a playoff game.
April 19, 2009
Jason Kidd, who was vomiting on the bench for Dallas in Game 1 against San Antonio, did not practice on Sunday due to stomach problems, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:Kidd still played 38 minutes on Saturday, so it'd be very surprising if he wasn't out on the court in Game 2 on Monday as the Mavericks attempt to steal both games from the Spurs in San Antonio.
April 6, 2009
Jason Kidd has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week, according to the Sports Network. Kidd earned the honor by averaging a league-high 13.5 assists, to to go along with 9.8 points last week while leading Dallas to a 3-1 mark.

Our View:During the week Kidd passed Magic Johnson for third on the NBA all-time assists list with 10,148. He now only trails John Stockton (15,806) and Mark Jackson (10,334).
April 5, 2009
Jason Kidd had a huge afternoon Sunday helping the Mavericks top the Suns 140-116. He scored 19 points and his 20 assists put him third on the NBA's all-time list as he passed Magic Johnson.

Our View:Kidd had a phenomenal all-around day. In addition to his 19 points and 20 assists, he shot 6-of-8 from the field, 3-of-4 from behind the arc, hit all four free throws, nabbed four boards and chipped in with a steal as well.
March 29, 2009
Jason Kidd is questionable for today's game against the Cavs due to a sore lower back, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:Kidd could be limited by his back, and only chipped in nine points and six assists in his last meeting with Cleveland, making him an unstable fantasy option for today.
March 28, 2009
As expected, Jason Kidd will suit up for the Mavericks on Sunday as they face the Cavaliers, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:Kidd had been struggling with back problems, and missed the team's game on Friday due to the malady. Fantasy owners should feel free to re-insert him in their lineups.
March 28, 2009
Jason Kidd missed Dallas' game against Denver on Friday night with a sore back but appears likely to return Sunday against Cleveland, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:"I'm feeling better," Kidd said. "I should be able to play on Sunday." Be sure to monitor Kidd's status on Sunday and be aware that the game has an early tip-off, but all signs point to his return to Dallas' starting lineup after a one-game resting.
March 27, 2009
Jason Kidd missed Dallas' shootaround on Friday morning due to lower back pain and is questionable to play against Denver tonight, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:It doesn't seem like Kidd will be forced to sit, but you should certainly check back on his status before game time just to make sure if you own him. Despite his lack of points, he's still someone that you need active in your lineup whenever you know he'll play. Jose Juan Barea would receive a big boost in minutes if Kidd sits.
March 11, 2009
Jason Kidd finished Wednesday's 93-89 win over Portland with 10 assists, 10 rebounds, and just seven points. He was 3-for-7 from the field.

Our View:It is not too often that a player falls short of a triple-double because of points, however this is unlikely the first it has happened to Kidd. At 37, he remains the top rebounding player at his position.
February 27, 2009
Jason Kidd scored all 10 of his points in overtime and the Mavericks beat the Thunder 110-108 on Friday. He hit two three-pointers and all four of his free throw attempts in the extra period. He also managed 13 assists, five rebounds, and four steals in the game.

Our View:It was another odd night for Kidd, who seems to do most of his scroing late in games. Even at 37, he is still among the best in the NBA with 2.2 steals per game.
February 25, 2009
Jason Kidd bounced back from a two-point performance against the Spurs by hitting 6-of-7 shots and finishing with 19 points, nine assists, and five rebounds in the Mavericks 116-96 win over the Bucks.

Our View:Kidd's scoring fluctuated wildly, but his rebounding and assist rate is consistent enough to make him a Top 10 point guard this season.
February 24, 2009
Jason Kidd scored just two points for the Mavs in their tough 93-76 loss to the Spurs on Tuesday.

Our View:Kidd has been inconsistent for the Mavericks and has not turned in back-to-back double digit scoring nights since mid-January. He has been averaging eight points and assists a game in his last five games.
February 18, 2009
Jason Kidd collected a double-double on Wednesday, finishing with 23 points, 10 assists, three rebounds, one steal, and one block.

Our View:This was Kidd's second double-double in his last three games.
February 12, 2009
Jason Kidd struggled again on Thursday in the Mavericks 99-92 loss to Boston. Kidd was 1-of-8 from the field, with just three points. He did add a team-high ten assists.

Our View:Kidd has really been playing poorly lately and his fantasy value is plummeting. Keep Kidd out of your lineup until he gets healthy.
February 6, 2009
Jason Kidd has been battling multiple injuries and struggled on Thursday in the Mavericks 115-87 loss to the Jazz. Kidd was just 2-of-6 from the field, with seven points and eight assists.

Our View:Kidd's value has been dropping month after month as the injuries have increased. Be careful you are not playing him in your lineup just for his name value.
February 4, 2009
The AP reports that Jason Kidd past Oscar Robertson for No. 4 all-time in assists in Wednesday's 104-99 win over Portland. Kidd finished with 10 assists, seven points, seven rebounds, two blocks, and a steal.

Our View:Congratulations to Kidd who could pass Magic Johnson by season's end. Kidd would certainly be in the conversation of best point guards ever if he could ever win a championship. Regardless, he has been a dominant force throughout his career not only with his passing, but also with his rebounding. At 35 years of age, he is averaging 8.3 assists and 6.4 rebounds per game.
February 2, 2009
Jason Kidd hit 6-of-9 from the field and finished with 13 points, eight assists, five rebounds, five turnovers and four steals as the Mavericks defeated the Magic 105-95 on Monday.

Our View:The nine shots marked his most attempts in a game since January 19. He has recently taken over more of the play-calling from coach Rick Carlisle, and while the Mavericks have been scoring more points, Kidd's numbers haven't really seen any improvement yet.
February 1, 2009
The Dallas Morning News reports that the Mavericks have shown improvement on offense in the two games since coach Rick Carlisle handed over the reigns of his offense to floor general Jason Kidd. Carlisle was calling 70 to 80 percent of the plays, but now the responsibility falls on Kidd.

Our View:The move seems to be working as the Mavericks have scored 228 points in their last two games - then again they did play the Warriors and Heat. Kidd has tallied 20 assists in those games, and his assists per game number should increase as a result of the move.
January 31, 2009
Jason Kidd dished out 11 assists to go with seven points, five rebounds, two steals, and two turnovers as Dallas won 111-96 in Miami on Saturday.

Our View:There have been a number of trade rumors surrounding Kidd recently, but he continues to play consistent basketball. However, he continues to shy away from shooting, as he is averaging 8.9 points per game this season.
January 30, 2009
The Blazers have rejected an offer from the Mavs for Jason Kidd, according to HoopsWorld.com.

Our View:The Blazers were not willing to part with Jerryd Bayless, who Dallas asked for in the proposed swap. Kidd is still racking up plenty of assists and steals, but his scoring is down, namely due to a mere 40.6 shooting percentage.
January 19, 2009
Jason Kidd chipped in 22 points in Monday's 95-93 win over Philadelphia, with 12 boards and six assists. He drained 6-of-8 shots from three-point range.

Our View:He tied his second-highest scoring output of the season, and notched his eighth double-double.
January 9, 2009
Jason Kidd has stated that he would like to play for the Knicks when he hits free agency in the offseason, according to the Newark Ledger. "I'm going to look and see," Kidd Said. "Coach (Mike D'Antoni) is great. And I got to know him a little bit this summer (at the Olympics). It's a great place (Madison Square Garden) - one of the best stages in professional sports,"

Our View:Kidd is a decent fantasy performer, but his playing in New York could up those totals next season. With one caveat - Chris Duhon was hand-picked by D'Antoni to run the show, and is the team's starting point guard.
January 8, 2009
Jason Kidd grabbed six boards and scored 16 points, thanks to 4-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc, as the Mavericks scratched out a close 99-94 home win against the Knicks Thursday night.

Our View:Kidd's 16 points were his most since Dec. 19, when he scored 17 against the New Jersey Nets, and his fifth-highest total this season.
January 4, 2009
Jason Kidd was held to just one point, six rebounds, and five assists as the Mavericks lost to the Grizzlies by 20 on Sunday.

Our View:We've become used to seeing Kidd get outplayed by All-Star caliber point guards, but Kyle Lowry and Mike Conley? This was one of the worst games of the season for the gold-medalist.
