The Denver Post is reporting that Nuggets' guard J.R. Smith will come off the bench when he returns from his seven-game suspension on November 10. Head coach George Karl believes that Smith needs time to shake the rust off before he enters the starting rotation.

Our View:Smith is a shooter, so he will need some time to adjust to the speed of the game before he can get comfortable. The Nuggets expect big things out of Smith this season, so they will bring him along slowly to make sure he doesn't get himself into an early funk.

J.R. Smith struggled shooting the ball in Thursday's preseason loss to the Pacers in Taiwan, but he still managed to finish with 16 points. Smith was only 5-for-16 from the field, but he did manage to hit two of his five three-point attempts.

Our View:Smith's shot looks fine from beyond the arc, but inside the line he struggled to finish. The Nuggets are expecting big things out of Smith this season, but he will miss the team's first seven games of the season while serving a suspension.

Nuggets' guard J.R. Smith has been suspended for the first seven games of the 2009-2010 season after pleading guilty to a charge of reckless driving from a 2007 auto accident that killed his friend Andre Bell, according to the Denver Post. Smith already served a two-game suspension that was handed down by the team before the 2007-2008 season for the same offense.

Our View:This ruling by the league really didn't surprise anyone, as Smith plead guilty to a fairly serious charge. Smith was sentenced to 90 days in jail at his trial, but all but 30 days was suspended provided that Smith perform 500 hours of community service.
