Newsbreakers
November 18, 2009
Udonis Haslem will miss tonight's game against the Hawks, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Our View:Haslem aggravated his strained shoulder during Tuesday's battle against Oklahoma City. He is a quality power forward, but has trouble staying healthy.
November 1, 2009
Udonis Haslem came off the bench in Sunday's win over the Bulls, but was able to accumulate 19 points and 11 rebounds on 9-of-13 shooting.

Our View:Haslem was a +15 in 35 minutes of action, while Michael Beasley was a -3 in 31 minutes. He is averaging a double-double through three games despite his new role as a reserve and appears to still be at least a bench spot in most fantasy leagues.
October 27, 2009
It has been revealed that long-time starter Udonis Haslem will come off the bench for the Heat this season, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Our View:He is being replaced in the starting lineup by Michael Beasley. This is obviously not good for his fantasy value, as he is not likely to average 8.2 rebounds per game coming off the bench.
October 17, 2009
Udonis Haslem will have his ailing back re-evaluated on Saturday, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:For the time being, he's just considered day-to-day, though as anyone who has ever had a bad back knows, the injury can linger. If he stays healthy, he's a solid reserve forward because of his rebounding ability.
May 18, 2009
The Miami Herald reports that Udonis Haslem will not require back surgery, as the forward had previously feared. He played most of the second half of the season with back spasms.

Our View:There's a possibility that the Heat could shop Haslem this offseason if they want to start Michael Beasley at power forward. However, injuries to his back and ankle will make it difficult to get much in return for him. He averaged 10.6 points and 8.2 rebounds in 75 games last season.
May 3, 2009
Udonis Haslem recorded a double-double in the Heat's 91-78 Game Seven loss on Sunday. He was good for 14 points and 13 rebounds, but the Heat were bounced from the playoffs by the Hawks.

Our View:Haslem averaged just over ten points and eight rebounds per game in the regular season, so Sunday's performance was a step up. It was his second double-double during the seven game series. The other came in Game Three.
April 18, 2009
Udonis Haslem will start at power forward in Sunday's Game 1 at Atlanta, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Our View:Michael Beasley will serve in a reserve role off the bench. Haslem averages 10.1 points and eight rebounds over 21 career meetings with the Hawks.
April 17, 2009
Forward Udonis Haslem informed the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that he will be ready to go when the Heat opens the playoffs against the Hawks on Sunday. Haslem has been dealing with a cut on his right thumb.

Our View:Haslem missed a string of games at the end of the season, but we expected him to be ready for the playoffs. The Heat need him to rebound and play defense, not shoot. Michael Beasley will likely return to the bench, but the rookie could see more minutes than usual.
April 14, 2009
Udonis Haslem is expected to miss tonight's game at Atlanta while still nursing a cut on his right thumb, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:Haslem will be missing his fifth straight game with the injury, and should remain held out of fantasy lineups.
April 7, 2009
The thumb injury Heat forward Udonis Haslem sustained to his thumb has turned out to be worse than expected, the Miami Herald reports. In addition to lacerating his right thumb, Haslem also sprained the digit Friday against Charlotte.

Our View:Haslem will be out close to two weeks, and could be out longer if he fails to heed the warning of team physicians. After being ordered to keep the cut on this thumb dry, Haslem was seen on the practice court Monday before being chased off by head coach Erik Spoelstra.
April 6, 2009
Updating a previous report, Udonis Haslem does not expect to play in any of the remaining regular season games for the Heat, according to the Sun-Sentinel. He received stitches in his thumb after cutting it on the backboard.

Our View:This figures to bump up the playing time for rookie Michael Beasley, but Jamaal Magloire got the start for Haslem in their last game. Obviously, if you own Haslem, you need to replace him immediately.
April 5, 2009
Udonis Haslem will not return to action until after the seven stitches he received to repair his lacerated thumb are removed and has set a timetable for return at seven to 10 days, according to the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel.

Our View:Miami's final game of the season is against Detroit on March 15, 10 days from now, so it doesn't appear too unlikely that Haslem will be sidelined until the start of the playoffs. Should you still be alive in your fantasy league, you'd be advised to drop him for someone that will be active over the final week and a half of the regular season.
April 4, 2009
Udonis Haslem cut his thumb on the backboard during battle with the Bobcats and is unlikely to play Saturday against the Wizards, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:Haslem racked up 14 points in his last meeting with Washington, but should be held out of fantasy lineups to be safe.
March 28, 2009
Udonis Haslem helped lead the Heat to a 102-85 win over the Bucks by scoring 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

Our View:Haslem is averaging just under 11 points, but he has scored in double figures in all but two games this month. The double-double was his fourth of the month and second in three games.
March 25, 2009
Udonis Haslem hit 9-of-12 shots and finished Wednesday's 90-88 loss to the Pacers with 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Our View:One would think Haslem is a double-double machine, but this is just his third such performance this month. The veteran could come off the bench next season as the Heat are intent on making Michael Beasley a power forward.
February 24, 2009
Udonis Haslem recorded a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds for the Heat on Tuesday.

Our View:Haslem has been providing almost a double-double average this season for the Heat. He has been very solid and playing with a lot of aggression.
January 31, 2009
The AP reports that Udonis Haslem was ejected in the first quarter of Friday night's tilt against the Pacers after he received two technicals for arguing calls. He finished with two points and two rebounds in nine minutes and the Heat lost 114-103.

Our View:This was a tough break for Haslem owners. He shouldn't miss any additional time and we expect him to come out aggressively in his next start.
January 18, 2009
Udonis Haslem played 40 minutes on Sunday night and he hit five of nine shots for 11 points, to compliment the 15 boards he pulled against the Thunder.

Our View:Haslem has basically been the same player for three years with a scoring average from 10.7 to 12.0 points, and rebounding marks of 8.3, 9.0 and 8.7 per game. He isn't a star, but when he is shooting over 50% as he is now, he is a valuable fantasy performer.
January 13, 2009
Udonis Haslem scored 17 points and snatched 10 rebounds in the Heat's win over the Wolves.

Our View:This was Udonis' 11th triple double of the year but his first of 2009.
