Newsbreakers
January 24, 2010
Josh Howard would most likely be the centerpiece of any Mavericks effort to land Sacramento's Kevin Martin, according to Hoopsworld.com.

Our View:Howard has been rusty much of the season as he recovers from an ankle injury, but is no doubt an above-average NBA player. It still seems curious that Sacramento would want to deal the scoring-machine Martin, but if they do, getting Howard in return would be quite nice. Stay tuned.

Josh Howard (illness) is penciled into tonight's lineup at Philadelphia, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:The source stated that his status is subject to change though, so use caution when considering him for fantasy duty.

The Mavericks are dangling Josh Howard as trade bait, according to ESPN.

Our View:Injury prone and often in trouble off-the-court, it's not surprising that the Mavs would want to unload Howard. Of course, those are the same reasons many teams might not want to acquire him. Regardless, Dallas' three top targets appear to be Kevin Martin, Andre Iguodala and Caron Butler. Stay tuned.

Josh Howard missed Dallas' shootaround on Wednesday with an undisclosed illness, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:This makes him very unlikely to take the court tonight against the Wizards. If you have someone to start in his place, he should be benched.
January 17, 2010
Josh Howard could muster only eight points on Sunday, as Dallas got blown away 110-88 by the Raptors.

Our View:He is averaging just 12 points per game in seven January contests. His recent re-insertion into the starting lineup should have that number on the rise, however.

Josh Howard (thigh) practiced this morning and is expected to play against the Lakers tonight, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:Howard missed one game with the ailment, but it looks like it's safe to re-activate him in all lineups.
January 11, 2010
Josh Howard is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Lakers, according to ESPN Dallas. He is dealing with a bruised left thigh.

Our View:Howard practiced today, but coach Rick Carlisle will use caution when deciding if he can take the court against Los Angeles. We will keep you posted on his status.
January 9, 2010
Josh Howard has been ruled out for tonight's game against Utah due to a left thigh contusion, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Howard is considered day-to-day. Jason Terry could take on extra minutes in his absence.
January 4, 2010
Josh Howard (ankle) has said that he is "almost back to my old self," according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:He is expected to keep coming off the bench for the foreseeable future, but will surely rejoin the starting lineup at some point. Averaging 13.2 points per game, he is still a decent fantasy start coming off of Dallas' bench.
January 1, 2010
Josh Howard could finally be nearing a return to Dallas' staring lineup, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Our View:He has been coming off the bench since returning from his hamstring injury last month. In Dallas' past two games, he has scored a combined 33 points.
