November 12, 2009
According to the Dallas Morning News, Josh Howard was removed from Wednesday's game in the third quarter after limping on his surgically repaired ankle.

November 7, 2009
Josh Howard made his 2009 debut on Saturday night for the Mavericks, and it came in a win as Dallas defeated the Raptors 129-101. Howard scored 16 points and added four rebounds and three steals in the game.

Our View:Not a bad debut for Howard, as he made his presence felt on both ends of the floor. The Mavs are ecstatic that he is back in the lineup, and he should be a nice addition to fantasy squads who have been waiting for his return.

The Mavericks have no timetable for Josh Howard's return from his ankle injury, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:He is also dealing with a sinus infection. He could back within as little as a week, but that appears to be mostly just speculation on the part of Mavs owner Mark Cuban. The safest bet would be to simply count on him being back before December.
October 26, 2009
Josh Howard (wrist, ankle) will miss the Mavericks' regular season opener on Tuesday, and could be out for "weeks," according to ESPN.

Our View:Howard missed 30 games with injury last season, and he doesn't appear to have gotten any more durable after undergoing surgery on both his wrist and ankle in the offseason. The Mavericks are said to want to get him completely healthy, so if you were hoping for fantasy purposes that they would rush him back, bad break.
October 23, 2009

Our View:Coach Rick Carlisle stated, "Giving a timetable was probably a mistake. We have to play this by ear. I'll probably announce it the day he is going to play -- whether that is in two weeks or a month or a month and a half." Howard missed 30 games last season and his health looks to be a major concern once again after having offseason wrist and ankle surgery. Josh Howard had 14 points and seven rebounds in the Mavericks' 106-105 heartbreaking loss at home to the Nuggets on Saturday.

Our View:Howard managed to hobble around for almost 29 minutes on two bum ankles, and it's impressive he fared as well as he did. He was just 5-of-15 shooting, but the guy deserves some slack. Pulling down seven boards on two busted wheels is commendable. Howard will likely get a rest soon though as the Mavs are almost assured to get knocked off in the series.
May 9, 2009

May 5, 2009
Josh Howard left Game Two in the first quarter on Tuesday night. He re-injured his ankle and is not expected to return.

May 4, 2009

April 23, 2009
Josh Howard had 17 points and eight rebounds in the Mavericks' 88-67 win over the Spurs on Thursday. Dallas now leads 2-1 in the first round series.

Josh Howard was the best man on the floor for the Mavericks on Saturday as they upset the Spurs 105-97 and took game one of the series. Howard scored 25 points and grabbed four rebounds to go along with three assists.

Our View:Howard stepped up on a night when Dirk Nowitzki was less than his best and it paid off for the Mavericks. Our View:Howard's decision to sit was probably best for both him and his fantasy owners, as he wasn't helping anyone by continuing to play hurt and providing vastly unpredictable game logs, at times unable to reach 20 minutes on a given night. Hopefully he'll be refreshed when he returns, a date which is unknown at the moment but could come Tuesday against Phoenix.
