David West led the Hornets with 24 points and grabbed ten rebounds in Tuesday's 110-102 win over the Clippers.

November 4, 2009
David West came through when it counted for the Hornets on Wednesday as New Orleans defeated Dallas 114-107 in overtime. West scored 25 points and hauled in 10 rebounds in the win.

Our View:It was nice to see West get more active on the boards tonight, as he has averaged just 5.5 per game so far this season. He is doing plenty of scoring, and the rebounds and blocks should come as the season goes on.
April 29, 2009
The Detroit Pistons may attempt to trade for Hornets forward David West this summer, MLive.com reports. The Hornets are looking to shed payroll.

Our View:If West is truly available, we imagine that the Pistons would be one of many interested suitors. He will fill a huge frontcourt need for the Pistons.

David West scored 31 points in Sunday's 102-92 win over the Mavericks, to go along with six rebounds, three assists and one block.

Our View:West scored at least 30 points for the ninth time this season, and helped the Hornets snap a two-game losing streak.
April 8, 2009
David West had 28 points and 12 rebounds in Wednesday's 105-100 loss to the Suns. He was 13-for-20 from the field.

Our View:West has been playing on a sore ankle, but it has not really limited his production or his minutes. He has averaged 41.8 minutes, 24.2 points, and 9.2 rebounds over his last five games.
April 5, 2009
David West led the Hornets with 23 points on Sunday, but it wasn't enough as they fell to the Jazz 108-94. He complimented his fine shooting performance with some glass work as well, totaling 12 rebounds.

Our View:Fantasy owners have to love West right now as he's either putting up huge point totals or registering double-doubles. He has 26 boards in his last two games, making up for a snafu on April Fools Day when he totaled a meager three.
April 4, 2009
David West scored 31 points and recorded 14 rebounds in an ugly 111-103 road loss at Golden State on Friday evening.

Our View:Whatever ankle ailment West was suffering from prior to the game clearly wasn't an issue against the Warriors. West played a team-high 43 minutes and was just three shy of tying his season-high of eight offensive boards.
April 3, 2009
David West is dealing with an ankle ailment, but is expected to play in tonight's game at Golden State, according to the Sports Network.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that David West tweaked his ankle on the way to 40 points against the Kings on Tuesday, and he is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Clippers. "Right now, I would say it does not look good," coach Byron Scott said following the game after observing West struggle to walk.

Our View:The injuries keep piling up on the Hornets, but they have a pretty comfortable grasp of a playoff spot. As a result, we would expect West to get at least one night off, but check back for further details.
April 1, 2009
David West blew up Tuesday night and scored 40 points in a thrilling 111-110 victory over the Kings. He also added nine rebounds and six assists.

Our View:Who saw this coming? The 40 points matched his season high set on January 6th. He has been hot lately topping 20 points eight times this month. Just not this hot.
March 29, 2009
David West put forth a terrific effort Sunday against San Antonio. He finished the Hornets' 90-86 victory with 23 points and 16 rebounds in 42 minutes.

Our View:West recorded his first double-double since Mar. 16. He has eight this month, but five of those came in five consecutive games to begin the month.
March 27, 2009
David West led all scorers in Friday's contest with 29, but it wasn't enough as the Hornets lost to the Knicks 103-93.

Our View:West's point total was his highest since March 2nd, but he was still below his season average in rebounds with seven on the night. He hasn't hit double digits in five games.
March 22, 2009
David West scored 23 points, dished out six assists, grabbed four rebounds, and had two steals as the Hornets beat the Warriors 99-89 on Sunday. He hit 11-of-19 from the field.

Our View:West struggled with his shot last week, so it's great to see him go 11-for-19. However, the four rebounds have to be a disappointment for his owners.
March 20, 2009

March 2, 2009
David West continued his recent tear by posting 30 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in the Hornets 98-91 win over the 76ers on Monday. He played 45 minutes in the game.

Our View:Over a five-game stretch, West is averaging 28.8 points and 10.4 rebounds. He has clearly become the focus of the team's offense now that Tyson Chandler has returned to anchor the defense. The Hornets don't have a quality backup for West, so expect him to see big minutes down the stretch.
March 1, 2009

David West scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Hornets snuck past the Bucks 95-94 on Friday. He shot 11-of-19 from the field but also committed six turnovers.

Our View:West has really upped his rebounding production since the all-star break, even after Tyson Chandler's return. He is also averaging 27.3 points since Chandler's return and the Hornets are 3-0 in those games.
February 25, 2009
David West scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Hornets handed the Pistons their seventh straight loss on Wednesday.

Our View:Even with Tyson Chandler back in the lineup, West has been able to keep up his solid board work. The Hornets don't really have a capable back up at power forward so expect him to log nearly 40 minutes per game down the stretch.
February 23, 2009
David West scored 24 points, grabbed nine rebounds, five assists, and four blocks in 43 minutes as the Hornets beat the Kings 112-105 on Monday.

David West hit only 4-of-13 shots in 46 minutes of action as the Hornets fell to the Jazz 102-88 on Saturday. He finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists.

Our View:West didn't have his shot tonight, but he still managed a nice stat line, mainly because of his ability to get to the free throw line. He hit 10-of-12 free throws in the game. For the season, he is hitting 89 percent of his attempts.
February 21, 2009
David West had a nice game for New Orleans on Friday, collecting 16 each of points and rebounds. He also chipped in five assists.

Our View:This was West's second double-double in his past three games.
February 17, 2009
The New Orleans Hornets needed every one of David West's 37 points, as they downed the Thunder, 100-98.

Our View:West grabbed 13 rebounds for the contest as well. It was his fourth double-double in his last eight games.
February 9, 2009
David West has been suspended for Monday's game against Memphis for a flagrant foul he committed on Mike Miller. Miller was not injured and West did not receive an additional fine.

Our View:This is pretty standard procedure for a foul of this variety in the NBA. It's certainly unfortunate for fantasy owners as they lose West for a game and a half for the hit. He was ejected from the Minnesota game in the second quarter.
February 6, 2009
David West had another double-double on Friday, posting 17 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.

Our View:West had four double-doubles in five games since returning from back spasms.
February 4, 2009
David West had 24 points, 14 boards, four assists, and three blocks as New Orleans fell at home to Chicago on Wednesday.

Our View:West logged 40 minutes in the game and he will continue to take on a heavy load while Chris Paul is absent with a groin injury.
February 2, 2009
David West hit 11-of-24 shots to finish with 25 points and eight rebounds as the Hornets fell 97-89 to Portland on Monday.

Our View:He had hit 13-of-35 attempts in his first two games back from injury, but he found the bottom of the net more regularly on Monday. Unfortunately, the Hornets lost Chris Paul in the game which could have a negative effect on West's production.
January 31, 2009
David West struggled on Friday for the Hornets, finishing with just 12 points, four assists, and one steal. However, he did manage to grab 15 board for New Orleans.

Our View:This was a brave effort by West, who it originally was reported would not even play in Friday's game due to back spasms. He might be a risky choice for Saturday's game in San Antonio since it's unlikely that he'll be 100 percent for the contest.
January 30, 2009
David West will not return to the Hornets' lineup tonight against the Warriors while still dealing with back spasms, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:It is uncertain when he may be ready to return to the court. He will continue to be missed as the Hornets' second-leading scorer, averaging 20 points per contest. He also averages 7.1 boards.
January 28, 2009

Our View:He is still suffering from back spasms and it is uncertain when he may be ready to return to the court. He will continue to be missed by the Hornets and fantasy owners, as he averages 20 points, 7.1 boards and one steal per game.
January 27, 2009
The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that David West was on the practice floor on Tuesday, though in a limited role.

Our View:West has an issue with his back which has caused him to miss four games in a row. It's possible he'll be back on Wednesday when the team hosts the Denver Nuggets.
January 26, 2009
David West is expected to miss tonight's home game against the Sixers due to his ailing back, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:He has been the Hornets' second-leading scorer while averaging 20 points per contest. James Posey will be afforded more minutes until he is ready to return.
January 22, 2009
David West has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Timberwolves due to a sore back, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:West will miss his third straight game and his absence certainly hurts his owners. James Posey will probably see the biggest increase in minutes, making him a decent play on Friday.
January 21, 2009
The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Hornets forward David West could miss the team's game against New Jersey on Wednesday due to back spasms.

Our View:West's absence is a blow to fantasy owners who rely on his 20 points per contest. Julian Wright may see more time with West out, but he's not a viable fantasy option at the moment, as he's played just twice since Christmas for a total of five minutes.
January 19, 2009
The AP reports that David West missed Monday's game against the Pacers due to back spasms. Coach Byron Scott also suggests that he could be out Wednesday against the Nets.

Our View:This was the first game of the season that he has missed, but it appears the injury may linger. Sean Marks started in his place, but it was James Posey who saw the biggest spike in playing time.
January 17, 2009
David West scored 20 points on Saturday in New Orleans' 91-85 road win at Detroit.

January 16, 2009
David West scored a team-high 23 points on Friday for the Hornets, while also adding five rebounds, two blocks, and one assist.

January 12, 2009
David West was productive on Monday for the Hornets, recording 25 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block.

Our View:West had only scored a total of 25 points in his last two games to follow up his 40-point performance against the Lakers on January 6th.
January 7, 2009
David West helped New Orleans defeat the Lakers by the score of 116-105 by scoring 40 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Our View:Great performance by West for his fantasy owners, as he doubled his point-per-game average.
January 3, 2009
David West scored 21 points in Saturday's 105-100 loss to Denver, with a team-high eight rebounds. He also had two steals and three blocks.

Our View:West continues to post favorable numbers as a fantasy forward. He tied his season-high with two steals tonight and reached at least 20 points for the third straight game.
