Newsbreakers
November 7, 2009
Rasual Butler has supplanted Al Thornton as the Clippers' starting small forward, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View:Butler averaged a career-best 11.2 points per game for the Hornets a season ago, but he's not much of a fantasy option in a time-share with Thornton. His stay in the starting lineup doesn't seem likely to be a permanent thing, either.
November 5, 2009
According to the LA Times, Rasual Butler is the likely candidate to start for the Clippers on Friday due to the fact that Al Thornton is suffering through a bout of the flu.

Our View:No one has gotten a stranglehold on the starting job, so this is a good opportunity for Butler. Neither he or Thornton are solid fantasy options right now, but if a full time starter is ever named, that guy could be. It will be worth monitoring his play on Friday.
October 13, 2009
Rasual Butler came off the bench to score 27 points for the Clippers in preseason action on Thursday night.

Our View:Butler will serve as a reserve forward for the Clips in 2009-10. He can't be counted on to average the 11.2 points he averaged in New Orleans last season.
August 12, 2009
ESPN.com is reporting that the New Orleans Hornets have traded Rasual Butler to the LA Clippers in exchange for a future second-round pick. Butler averaged 11.2 points for the Hornets last season.

Our View:Butler played in all 82 games for the team last year, but the Hornets made this move to shed some payroll after the acquisition of Emeka Okafor. Butler finished strong last season, and he could have some fantasy value if he gets the same kind of playing time with the Clips.
March 13, 2009
Rasual Butler made six of his 12 field-goal attempts during his 42 minutes on the floor to finish New Orleans' 95-86 win over Milwaukee with 17 points.

Our View:Butler made four of his eight three-points attempts Friday night to bring his percentage from behind the arc to 46 percent (21-of-45) this month.
March 7, 2009
Rasual Butler went 8-for-14 from the field and 3-for-3 from the free throw line with one three-pointer to total 20 points while also adding a steal and a block in 36 minutes of action.

Our View:Butler has been invaluable to the Hornets of late, averaging 17.4 points, 2.4 three-pointers and roughly one block and steal per game while logging over 35 minutes per game over New Orleans' last 11 contests.
February 21, 2009
Rasual Butler scored 21 points in 39 minutes as the Hornets fell to the Jazz 102-88 on Saturday.

Our View:Butler has seen his scoring average jump each month, and he is averaging 17.2 points over his last five games, and 15 for the month. In those last five, he has hit 15-of-29 three-pointers and blocked seven shots. He is starting to look very comfortable in the starting lineup, and we figure he'll stay there for the rest of the season.
February 18, 2009
Rasual Butler posted 15 points, eight rebounds, one steal, and one block in Wednesday's blowout win over the Magic.

Our View:Butler doesn't have much fantasy value, but he's upped his play lately as this was his second consecutive game scoring in double figures while recording eight rebounds.
February 9, 2009
Rasual Butler hit only 3-of-17 shots as the Hornets lost 85-80 to the Grizzlies on Monday. He finished with eight points, six rebounds, two assists, and two three-pointers in the loss.

Our View:Without Chris Paul, David West, and Tyson Chandler in the lineup, more was expected from Butler tonight. But he went ice cold, and his fantasy value is limited moving forward.
February 8, 2009
Rasual Butler posted a team-high 23 points on Sunday. He also chipped in eight rebounds, three assits, one steal, and one block.

Our View:Butler doesn't have much fantasy value, but has recorded 40 points and 16 rebounds in his last two games.
January 9, 2009
Rasual Butler led all scorers with 26 points as New Orleans defeated the Clippers 107-80 on Friday. He was 6-for-10 from three-point range.

Our View:Butler has made 23 starts this season and in those games he is averaging 9.5 points in those games.
