November 14, 2009 According to Our View:Labonte is definitely an upgarde from TRG's standpoint, but it isn't exactly a first-class ride for the former champ. The ownership at TRG is confident that they will be more competitive next season, but fantasy owners shouldn't expect to see the No. 71 car posting top 10s any time soon. |

September 4, 2009 After being replaced in the No. 96 car this weekend, Bobby Labonte will drive the No. 71 TRG Motorsports entry at Atlanta, according to Our View:By landing the ride, Labonte will extend his streak of consecutive starts to 568, which is the second-longest active streak behind Jeff Gordon's mark of 569. It has been confirmed that Labonte will drive the No. 71 in the six other races he is scheduled to be replaced in the No. 96. What limited fantasy value he had to begin with doesn't really change with the new ride. |

September 1, 2009 Sponsorship issues will force Bobby Labonte to miss seven of the final 12 races of the Cup season, according to Our View:Labonte will be replaced by Roush Fenway Racing development driver Erik Darnell for seven events, including this weekend's race at Atlanta. Darnell is also in the mix for a long-term deal with the No. 96 team as is Jamie McMurray. Labonte has not been ruled out as a possible driver for the team in 2010, but it seems unlikely at this point. It appears as if the 2000 series champ could be making his last starts this year. |
