Newsbreakers

November 2, 2009

Alex Rodriguez drove in three on Monday as the Yankees fell to the Phillies 8-6 in Game 5 of the World Series. Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in the contest.

Our View:

After a slow start in the series, A-Rod has been much better over the last few games. The Yanks have two more chances to clinch the title, and A-Rod figures to be right in the middle of the rest of the series.

November 1, 2009

Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run homer and reached base three other times on Saturday night, helping the Yankees to an 8-5 win in game three of the World Series in Philadelphia. The Yankees now lead the best-of-seven series two games to one.

Our View:

A-Rod's big night came on the heels of an 0-for-8 performance (including six strikeouts) in the series' first two games in New York City. If his bat is going, the Yanks will be hard to beat.

October 24, 2009

According to Joel Sherman on Twitter, Game 6 of the ALCS has been postponed due to rain.

Our View:

The Yankees will have to wait one more day to try and clinch their 40th AL pennant. The rain is expected to continue throughout the night, so the game has been pushed to Sunday at 7:20 p.m. Andy Pettite will take on Joe Saunders assuming Mother Nature doesn't get in the way again.

October 20, 2009

Alex Rodriguez moved the Yankees one step closer to the World Series, as he went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored in tonight's 10-1 win over the Angels in Game 4 of the ALCS. He hit a single, double and a two-run homer off Jason Bulger.

Our View:

New York now holds a commanding 3-1 lead in the series. A-Rod has three homers and five RBI over the first four games, with a .375 batting average.

October 20, 2009

The intentional walk given to Alex Rodriguez in the ninth inning of game two of the ALCS on Monday made him just the fourth player in playoff history to be intentionally walked with the bases empty and the game tied, according to AOL Fanhouse's Ed Price.

Our View:

It appears the Angels and Fuentes had learned their lesson after foolishly grooving A-Rod a fastball, which he crushed, late in game two. A-Rod has blown up his reputation as a postseason failure this year, batting .348 with four home runs and nine RBI in just six games.
