Matt Downs has been recalled from Triple-A Fresno by the San Francisco Giants, according to the Twitter page of Giants' beat writer Andrew Baggarly. Downs will replace Kevin Frandsen on the roster, as he was sent down in a corresponding move.
Downs will get another opportunity at playing with the big club, as he hit only .194 in his first stint with the team. He doesn't figure to see a ton of playing time with the Giants, but he will provide some depth and a stick off the bench.
The San Francisco Giants have optioned infielder Matt Downs to Triple-A Fresno in order to make room for Rich Aurilia's activation from the bereavement list, according to TSN. Downs hit only .194 with the Giants since his call up.
Downs isn't quite ready for the major league level yet, and some more time in Triple-A will do him some good. He got a chance, but he just couldn't capitalize. Obviously, he has no fanasy value in any league.
