Eric Hacker has been designated for assignment by the Pirates, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He was sent to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Hacker failed to impress the Pirates with a 6.00 ERA and 2.00 WHIP over three innings of relief in 2009.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pirates have acquired pitcher Eric Hacker from the Yankees. Details of the trade are currently unknown.
Hacker was just DFAed by the Yanks and wouldn't have cleared waivers, so they opted for a trade. In a season split between Single-A and Double-A, Hacker had a 2.43 ERA with 115 Ks and 37 walks in 2008. This season however has been a different story. He has a 7.88 ERA in three starts in Triple-A. Don't look for him to make a fantasy impact this season.
Eric Hacker has been designated for assignment by the Yankees, according to the Star-Ledger.
The club needed to make room for Brett Tomko on the 40-man roster, and viewed Hacker as the most expendable.
