Our View:

So if you have any eligible bench players, get them in your lineup for all your Indians and White Sox players and take advantage of being given an extra game. The two teams will play a double-header tomorrow.

September 28, 2009

Gordon Beckham helped lead the Sox in tonight's 6-1 win at Cleveland, as he went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored. He hit a double and a single.

Our View:

The rookie has a hit in four straight games, and is batting .275 in September. He has a bright future ahead of him in Chicago.

September 25, 2009

Gordon Beckham led the Sox offensively in tonight's 2-0 win over Detroit at U.S. Cellular Field, as he went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer off Eddie Bonine.

Our View:

The Sox only had two hits in the game, and Beckham was their only source of scoring. The rookie has a homer in two of his last three games, and 14 for 2009.

September 16, 2009

Gordon Beckham went 1-for-4 with a solo homer off Ryan Rowland-Smith in tonight's 4-1 loss at Seattle.

Our View:

The Sox had nine hits in the game, but Beckham was their lone source of scoring. The rookie launched four homers this month, and has 12 for 2009.

September 12, 2009

Gordon Beckham was all over the field in Chicago's 4-3 win over the Angels on Saturday. The rookie third baseman went 3-for-4 with his 11th home run, and also scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch in the tenth inning.

Our View:

He had missed a number of games with a strained oblique recently, but looked to be right back on track Saturday. He is a legitimate contender for the American League's rookie of the year award.

September 11, 2009

Gordon Beckham is set to return to the lineup tonight at the Angels following his bout with a strained oblique, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:

Beckham will start at the hot corner, and bat second in the order. The rookie should be fine to consider for fantasy duty. The Angels are generally a tough matchup, but opposing hurler Joe Saunders carries a 4.97 ERA.

September 9, 2009

Gordon Beckham injured the middle finger on his right hand during infield work prior to tonight's game against Oakland, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:

Jayson Nix will start at third base tonight, but the prized rookie is not concerned with his injury. He was dealing with back stiffness last week as well.

September 5, 2009

Gordon Beckham was forced to leave the White Sox in the first inning on Saturday with back stiffness, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:

Now word yet on the severity. More as it becomes available.

September 2, 2009

Gordon Beckham began the ninth inning with a bang Wednesday, hitting just the fourth home run allowed by Joe Nathan all season, jump-starting a four-run White Sox rally in a 4-2 win in Minnesota.

Our View:

Beckham has now homered in two straight contests after being mired in a 4-for-33 (.121) slump in his previous eight games.

September 1, 2009

Gordon Beckham was productive in tonight's 4-3 loss at Minnesota, as he went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer off Matt Guerrier.

Our View:

The rookie only batted .223 in July, and this is encouraging to see him get off to a good start in September.

August 23, 2009

Gordon Beckham was productive in Sunday's 5-4 loss to Baltimore at U.S. Cellular Field, as he went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and an RBI.

Our View:

Beckham was in need of a solid outing, as he only had one hit over his previous five games (18 at-bats). The rookie is only batting .266 this month, after hitting .330 in July.

August 7, 2009

Gordon Beckham went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI in tonight's 6-2 loss to Cleveland at U.S. Cellular Field.

Our View:

Beckham is batting .346 with eight RBI and seven runs scored over six games in August (26 at-bats). Chicago's rookie phenom is yet to cool off after hitting .330 last month.

August 4, 2009

Gordon Beckham carried the Sox offensively in tonight's 5-4 win over the Angels at U.S. Cellular Field, as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. He hit a double and a solo homer off John Lackey.

Our View:

Beckham has two hits in each of his last three games, and racked up nine RBI over his last five. Keep the rookie active in fantasy lineups while swinging a hot stick.

August 2, 2009

Gordon Beckham went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and an RBI in the White Sox's 8-5 loss to the Yankees on Sunday.

Our View:

Beckham has been red hot lately. He hit .330 in July with three homers and 18 RBI and is off to a 5-for-11 start in August, complete with four doubles and five RBI.

August 1, 2009

Gordon Beckham helped lead the Sox in Saturday's 14-4 win over the Yankees at U.S. Cellular Field, as he went 2-for-6 with four RBI and a run scored.

Our View:

The rookie raised his batting average to .303, and has two hits in five of his last six games. Keep him active in fantasy lineups while swinging a hot stick.

July 30, 2009

Gordon Beckham knocked two more hits on Thursday as the White Sox beat the Yankees 3-2. Beckham doubled and drove in a run in the contest.

Our View:

Beckham has now hit in seven straight, and tonight marked his fourth straight multi-hit effort. The rookie is coming into his own in Chicago, and he looks to be a future star for the White Sox.

July 29, 2009

Gordon Beckham went 2-for-4 in tonight's 3-2 loss at Minnesota. Both of his knocks were singles.

Our View:

Beckham has a six-game hitting streak, and has two hits in each of his last three. The rookie merits consideration for AL-only leagues while hot.

July 27, 2009

Gordon Beckham went 2-for-4 with a home run on Monday.

Our View:

Beckham started off slow upon his call up in early June but has picked things up in a big way and has added a nice mix of power and speed. He should be considered as a pickup in nearly any format at this point.

July 21, 2009

Gordon Beckham went 3-for-4 with an RBI in tonight's 3-2 loss to Tampa Bay at U.S. Cellular Field. He hit two doubles and a single.

Our View:

Beckham raised his season average to .304, and has multiple hits in five of his last seven games. The rookie is worth targeting in fantasy leagues if you need help at the hot corner.

July 4, 2009

Gordon Beckham went 2-for-4 on Saturday, including his third major league home run, but it wasn't enough as Chicago lost 6-4 to the Royals in Kansas City.

Our View:

Beckham has seen his average jump from .239 on June 29 to .275, and could be worth a flier if you are in dire need of a new or fill-in third baseman.

July 2, 2009

Gordon Beckham drove in a run starting in place of Alexei Ramirez on Thursday night, but still went 0-for-4 as the White Sox beat Kansas City 4-1.

Our View:

Beckham has been solid if unspectacular during his first callup, and is not yet worthy of a roster spot in formats outside of keeper leagues.

June 29, 2009

Gordon Beckham went 3-for-3 with two RBI in tonight's 6-3 win at Cleveland. All three of his hits were singles.

Our View:

The rookie has a four-game hitting streak, with seven hits over the span. The rookie is worth consideration for AL-only leagues while swinging a hot stick.

June 27, 2009

Gordon Beckham hit a game-winning single to conclude an 8-7 win for the White Sox over the Cubs on Saturday.

Our View:

Beckham went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI on the day. While he's still been far from impressive, he has gotten his batting average up to .200 after being under the .100 mark two weeks back and certainly has the ability to gain fantasy relevance in mixed formats, though it remains to be seen if that will come this season for the 22-year-old.

June 14, 2009

Gordon Beckham had a big two-RBI double in the fourth inning to help the White Sox to a 5-4 victory over the Brewers. Beckham went 1-for-4 on the game and is now hitting .114 on the year with the White Sox.

Our View:

Beckham has struggled since being called up to Chicago, but he got a big hit today to help his team to victory. In time Beckham will be a very solid player, but right now he is not worth fantasy consideration.

June 12, 2009

Gordon Beckham will cover third base for Chicago in tonight's interleague game at Milwaukee, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:

Josh Fields will serve at first base with Paul Konerko ailing, and there is no DH as the Sox are playing at an NL park. Beckham is only hitting .083 this season, and does not merit fantasy consideration even though he does have a hit in two of his last three games.

June 6, 2009

According to the Chicago Tribune, rookie third baseman Gordon Beckham is out of the lineup on Saturday.

Our View:

Beckham will be replaced by Josh Fields. Manager Ozzie Guillen states that the move isn't due Beckham's struggles, but the youngster went 0-for-6 in his first two starts. We're just saying.

June 4, 2009

Ballyhooed prospect Gordon Beckham went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in his first major league game on Thursday, a 7-0 loss to the A's.

Our View:

Beckham tore up the minor leagues this year, and figures to get plenty of playing time in the Sox infield, so despite his ordinary first day, he is definitely worth a flier in almost every format.

June 4, 2009

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that White Sox' rookie Gordon Beckham will make his major league debut on Thursday. Beckham is playing third base and batting eighth for today's game against the A's.

Our View:

Sox' fans have been waiting all year for this, so here ya go. AL-only owners should give Beckham a major look, and mixed leaguers should monitor him closely. If he starts out hot, he could be worth a pick up in all leagues, as he figures to be the primary third baseman for the team going forward.

June 3, 2009

The AP reports that the White Sox will call up Gordon Beckham from Triple-A on Thursday and designate Wilson Betemit for assignment. Manager Ozzie Guillen says he will use Beckham at second base, shortstop, and third base.

Our View:

In 45 games between Double-A and Triple-A this season, Beckham is hitting .326 with 23 doubles, four home runs, and 25 RBI. He is certainly worth watching and we suggest AL-only owner take a flyer on him. He has all the tools to be a strong fantasy infielder for years to come.

May 27, 2009

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that top prospect Gordon Beckham has been promoted to Triple-A Charlotte. He is expected to be in the lineup on Thursday.

Our View:

White Sox' fans have been clamoring for Beckham to be called up to the big squad all season, but Sox management has indicated that they want him to spend this season in the minors. It was thought that he would spend the entire year in Double-A, so this move could be a sign of things to come. It is still very doubtful that Beckham will make any contributions to the White Sox this year, but if he does come up he could be one to watch.

April 27, 2009

Gordon Beckham is expected to spend the entire 2009 campaign at Double-A Birmingham, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Chicago skipper Ozzie Guillen said, "Beckham does not play second. If you see Beckham up here this year, we are in trouble. He should play a full season at Birmingham. If we have to bring him up, we will, but I hope we do not have to."

Our View:

The Sox have Chris Getz out of action with his finger injury, and Brent Lillibridge is filling his spot at second base. Jayson Nix could be recalled from the minors for depth if Getz is forced to the DL.

March 25, 2009

The White Sox have optioned infielder Gordon Beckham to Double-A Birmingham. Once there, Beckham will play shortstop, the Chicago Tribune confirms. He hit .270 with two homers, six RBI, and two steals this spring.

Our View:

Beckham had been competing for time at second base, but the White Sox handed that starting job to Chris Getz. We still thought Beckham might stick at that position and replace Getz after some minor league seasoning. This news suggests that the White Sox are thinking differently. Fantasy owners who've already picked Beckham may need to be more patient than we'd previously hoped.

March 11, 2009

Gordon Beckham doubled home two runs in his only plate appearance as the White Sox defeated the Brewers 6-2 on Wednesday. It was his fifth double of the spring.

Our View:

Beckham is hitting .368 in 19 at-bats this spring with 18 total bases. He is legitimately contending for the second base job as neither Laynce Nix nor Chris Getz are producing anywhere near this consistently.

March 8, 2009

Gordon Beckham had yet another strong performance at the plate Sunday, collecting three hits in five at-bats from the leadoff spot.

Our View:

At his rate, it may be impossible for manager Ozzie Guillen to keep Beckham off the field. The young prospect is five for his last 10 and has displayed solid defense in spring training.

March 6, 2009

Gordon Beckham was 2-for-5 with two runs scored in Chicago's 10-3 win over Australia Friday afternoon.

Our View:

Beckham continues to impress and, in the process, improves his chances of becoming the starting second baseman on Opening Day.

March 5, 2009

Prospect Gordon Beckham hit his second homerun of the spring Thursday in a 5-4 loss to the Dodgers.

Our View:

Beckham may be the team's starting second baseman in 2009. His fantasy value is dependant on whether he makes the squad.

February 1, 2009

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen made it more apparent Sunday that farm-hand Gordon Beckham will play second base at the major-league level, according to the Chicago Tribune. "Alexei Ramirez is going to be my shortstop for a while," Guillen said a question and answer session.

Our View:

Beckham was a standout shortstop at the University of Georgia, where he was selected as an All-American and a finalist for the NCAA Player of the Year and Golden Spikes Award. He currently plays for the Kannapolis Intimidators of the South Atlantic League at the Class A level.
