Newsbreakers

August 1, 2009

Josh Roenicke will join the Blue Jays' bullpen on Saturday, MLB.com confirms.

Our View:

Roenicke has good stuff, but he is no more than a middle reliever at this point.

July 31, 2009

Josh Roenicke has been traded from Cincinnati to Toronto as part of the deal that shipped Scott Rolen to the Reds, according to TSN.

Our View:

Roenicke held a 2.70 ERA over 13.1 innings of relief with the Reds. He should benefit from playing his home games at the pitcher-friendly Rogers Centre with Toronto, but his fantasy value will remain limited as a middle reliever.

July 26, 2009

The Cincinnati Reds' official Twitter page is reporting that the team has recalled reliever Josh Roenicke from Triple-A Louisville. Roenicke will replace the injured Jared Burton on the roster.

Our View:

Roenicke was optioned on July 17, so it didn't take him long to get back. He has thrown 12.1 innings for the Reds this season, and he has only given up four runs while striking out 12. He should prove to be a nice boost for the bullpen in Cincy.

July 17, 2009

MLBlogs.com reports that the Reds have optioned reliever Josh Roenicke to Triple-A.

Our View:

The team needed to make room for Drew Sutton, but don't be surprised if you see Roenicke again in the near future. He pitched well (2.29 ERA, 12Ks) in his 12.1 innings with the big club this season.

June 17, 2009

Josh Roenicke has been recalled from Triple-A Louisville.

Our View:

Roenicke appeared in five games for the Reds in 2008, allowing three earned runs in three innings pitched. He is off the fantasy grid for now.
