According to the Twitter page of Pirates' beat writer Jenifer Langosch, the team has designated pitcher John Meloan for assignment. The move was made to create a spot on the 40-man roster for Monday's starter Daniel McCutchen.
Our View:
Meloan was claimed off waivers by the team from the Rays on August 12, and he was never much of a candidate for playing time this season. He has a career 8.68 ERA in the majors, and he has a long way to go before he is relevant in fantasy circles.

The Pirates have claimed John Meloan off waivers from the Rays and assigned him to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Our View:
With a career 8.68 ERA in 9.1 innings, Meloan isn't an obvious candidate to pitch in the majors this season. Look for the Bucs to try to get his stuff right in their farm system.

John Meloan has been designated for assignment by the Rays, according to Marc Topkin's (St. Petersburg Times) twitter page. He was moved to make room on the roster for Gregg Zaun, who was acquired via trade from Baltimore.
Our View:
The 25-year-old reliever holds a career 8.68 ERA in the majors, and did not see any action this season. He should continue to be ignored in fantasy leagues.

According to the Akron Beacon Journal, the Rays have acquired pitcher John Meloan from the Cleveland Indians for Winston Abreu.
Our View:
Meloan allowed 69 base runners in just 44 innings and compiled a 5.52 ERA for the Rays Triple-A affiliate this season. He has no fantasy value.
