Nick Evans has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo after the Mets traded Billy Wagner and shutdown Johan Santana on Tuesday, according to the New York Post's Bart Hubbuch.
Evans batted .250 in 44 major league at-bats for the Mets earlier this year, and figures to see plenty of playing time as Jeff Francoeur deals with a thumb injury. It could be a nice preview of a future permanent spot for Evans in the Mets outfield.
Nick Evans has been demoted to Triple-A Buffalo.
Evans batted .256 in his 14 game of cup of coffee. With the Mets' injury situation, he will probably be back in the bigs at some point.
Nick Evans had another nice day at the plate on Thursday in the Mets' 3-2 victory over the Cardinals. Evans went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
Evans was rewarded with the start today after his performance last night, and once again he delivered. If he keeps hitting the ball, he should find himself in the lineup on a regular basis. If not, the Mets will most likely be quick to pull the plug.
Nick Evans has been promoted from Double-A Binghamton, according to the New York Daily News.
It is not known yet whose roster spot he will be taking, but early speculation rests on Fernando Martinez. Evans was batting .276 at Buffalo. He is not worth an add in any format at this point.
