Newsbreakers

October 4, 2009

Wade LeBlanc allowed just two hits and a walk over seven shutout frames on Saturday. He fanned eight and improved to 3-1 on the season with a 2-0 win over the Giants.

Our View:

LeBlanc had easily the best outing of his career on Saturday. He ends his regular season on a high note, and the pitching starved Padres may give him a crack at the rotation in 2010.

September 21, 2009

Wade LeBlanc only issued one earned run on five hits over five innings in Monday's 11-6 win at Pittsburgh. He had three walks with five strikeouts.

Our View:

The game took 11 innings to decide a winner, so LeBlanc had to settle for a no-decision in his solid outing. He is pitching very well right now, as he allowed two or less earned runs in each of his last four starts.

September 15, 2009

Wade LeBlanc had another solid outing on Tuesday. He allowed just one run on three hits and walk over six innings, but didn't earn a decision in the Padres 4-2 loss to Arizona.

Our View:

The bullpen crumbled, but LeBlanc deserved a win in this one. He fanned five and the outing marked his third quality start in a row. He has allowed just three runs over his last 19 innings.

September 9, 2009

Wade LeBlanc became the latest pitcher to hold San Francisco's pitiful lineup in check on Wednesday, allowing just two runs in seven innings, as the Padres took a game critical for the Giants 4-2.

Our View:

LeBlanc has now won his past two starts, allowing just two runs in 13 innings in the process. He's definitely worth a flier down the stretch if you are in dire need of pitching help.

September 5, 2009

Wade LeBlanc was outstanding on Friday as he shut down the Dodgers in the Padres' 2-0 win. LeBlanc pitched six scoreless innings and allowed only two hits while walking three and striking out two.

Our View:

LeBlanc has put together two very nice starts in a row, and he was outstanding tonight. While tonight's start is intriguing, he still shouldn't be considered a fantasy player unless he puts a few dominating starts together.

August 29, 2009

Wade LeBlanc was steady in his first start since June 25th on Saturday night, allowing four runs in six innings en route to earning his second major league victory in the Padres 7-4 in Miami.

Our View:

LeBlanc shouldn't be considered in NL-only leagues until he's thrown at least one or two more decent games.

August 29, 2009

Wade LeBlanc has been recalled from Triple-A Portland to take the roster spot of the injured Kyle Blanks.

Our View:

In 4.1 major league innings earlier this season, LeBlanc allowed seven runs.

June 25, 2009

Wade LeBlanc has been sent down to Triple-A Portland, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:

LeBlanc started for the Padres on Thursday and got roughed up, giving up four earned runs in just 1.1 innings. He has a 14.54 ERA in four major league innings this season.

June 25, 2009

Wade LeBlanc was rocked for four earned runs on five hits over a mere 1.1 innings of work in Thursday's 9-3 loss at Seattle. He gave up three walks with one strikeout.

Our View:

He has surrendered seven earned runs over his two starts, and only lasted a total of 4.1 innings. LeBlanc does not merit fantasy consideration for his next outing.

June 20, 2009

Wade LeBlanc gave up three earned runs on three hits over a mere three innings in Friday's 7-5 loss to the A's at Petco Park. He had two walks and one strikeout.

Our View:

LeBlanc takes a no-decision in his short outing, which was his first start of the season. The rookie is only worth a look for NL-only leagues right now.

June 18, 2009

Wade LeBlanc has been recalled from Triple-A Portland.

Our View:

LeBlanc has an 8.02 ERA in 21.1 major league innings this season. He should not be a candidate for spot-starting at this time.

June 12, 2009

Wade LeBlanc has been sent down to Triple-A Portland to make room on the roster for Luis Rodriguez according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Our View:

LeBlanc was with the Padres all of three days during his callup and did not pitch. He has a career 8.02 ERA in five appearances.

June 8, 2009

Wade LeBlanc has been recalled by the Padres from Triple-A Portland, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:

LeBlanc is 1-3 with an 8.02 ERA over 21.1 career innings (four starts) with San Diego, and is not worth targeting outside of deeper NL-only leagues.
