Mitchell Boggs only issued one earned run on five hits over seven innings in Saturday's 2-1 win at Pittsburgh. He had two walks with three strikeouts.
Boggs had a strong outing, but was forced to settle for a no-decision rather than a win, as the game was tied at 1-1 when he exited. On the positive side, he trimmed his ERA to 4.11 and had his longest start of the season.
Mitchell Boggs had by far the best start of his short major league career on Saturday night, allowing three runs in six innings while throwing only 88 pitches, as the Cardinals beat the Nationals 9-4 at home.
Boggs has struggled with deep counts and walks this season, but issued only one free pass on Saturday night. Still, his value is limited to spot-starting in NL-only formats.
Mitchell Boggs will take the injured Kyle Lohse's rotation turn this Saturday against the Nationals, according to the
Boggs has a 4.58 ERA and 2.01 WHIP in 37.1 major league innings this season, but for what it is worth, the team has gone 5-2 in games in which he has started.
Mitchell Boggs has ben recalled by the St. Louis Cardinals, according to the

The Cardinals have optioned spot starter Mitchell Boggs back to Triple-A Memphis.
With John Smoltz set to join the team Thursday in San Diego, the Cards needed to clear a spot on the roster and, frankly, have no more use for Boggs at this point (since Smoltz will take over the fifth starter role). He may get another call-up when the rosters expand in September.
