Scott Sizemore underwent surgery on his fractured left ankle, according to the Associated Press.
A surgeon inserted screws to stabilize Sizemore's ankle joint. He will have the screws removed in January and is expected to be good to go for the start of spring training in February. He was named the Minor League Player of the Year in 2009, and should compete for the Tigers' starting gig at second base if Placico Polanco leaves in free agency.
The Detroit News is reporting that Tigers' prospect Scott Sizemore will miss the rest of the Arizona Fall League season after fracturing his ankle. Sizemore is expected to be full recovered in six-to-eight weeks, which gives him plenty of time before spring training.
It's unfortunate that Sizemore will miss the fall league, but he will be fine in plenty of time for spring training. He is expected to challenge to be the team;s starting second baseman next season assuming Placido Polanco leaves, and he has a bright future ahead of him.
Scott Sizemore has been sent to minor league camp by the Tigers for assignment, according to the Detroit News.
The 24-year-old was not expected to compete for a spot in the Tigers' middle infield, and will serve as organizational depth in the minors.
