The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that the Cardinals have recalled four players from Triple-A Memphis. Infielders Tyler Greene and David Freese, relief pitcher Josh Kinney, and catcher Matt Pagnozzi will all join the team in time for their game Wednesday in Houston,
Greene and Kinney have seen time with the big club this year, but Freese is the guy to watch over the next few weeks. He was the projected starter at third base for the Cards going into this season, but injuries have kept him in the minors most of the year. Expect Freese to get a decent amount of playing time to give Mark DeRosa time off at third base. Pagnozzi will serve as the third catcher and isn't likely to see more than a few pinch-hits and a spot start here or there.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that the Cardinals have optioned infielder Tyler Greene to Triple-A Memphis. In a corresponding move, the team recalled infielder Brian Barden.
Greene has been looking overmatched at the plate lately, and the Cards feel it is better for him to get regular at-bats in Triple-A at this point. He was never a player who was fantasy relevant, so no impact here.
According to Derek Goold's Twitter pager, the Cardinals have recalled shortstop Tyler Greene from Triple-A Memphis. He is expected to start at short for the Cardinals on Friday night against the Rockies.
Greene performed well while he was up with the team earlier this season, and since he came back down to the minors he has been destroying at the plate. Expect him to see plenty of time in the lineup, but his fantasy value is limited. He could be worth a look in NL-only leagues if you are desperate for a shortstop.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that Tyler Greene is a candidate to be recalled from Triple-A Memphis to take the roster spot of Joe Thurston when he leaves the team to be with the wife for the birth of his child.
Greene would be competing with Joe Mather for the promotion. In an earlier stint with the Cardinals this season, Greene hit .263 (10-for-38) in 13 games. Whoever is recalled will actually be taking the roster spot of Kyle Lohse, who is expected to be placed on the disabled list.
According to FoxSports.com, the Cardinals have optioned Tyler Greene to Triple-A Memphis to make room for the activation of Rick Ankiel.
Greene had been playing pretty well in place of Khalil Greene at short, so this move comes as a bit of a surprise. It looks like Khalil will get another chance at short, but expect Tyler back soon if Khalil continues his poor play.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that middle infielder Tyler Greene is starting at third base Tuesday night.
This is a bit of a surprise, but can anyone really be shocked at any lineup Tony La Russa pencils in? Greene has started off slowly since being called up, but he will get another chance tonight, this time at a new position.
Tyler Greene hit his first Major League home run on Friday in a pinch hit appearance in the Cardinals' 6-4 loss to the Reds.
Greene has some value to the Cardinals as a role player off the bench, but has no fantasy impact. Still, this was a nice moment for him.
Tyler Greene has been recalled from Triple-A Memphis by the Cardinals. Brendan Ryan (hamstring strain) was placed on the DL as the adjoining move.
Greene should serve at shortstop while Khalil Greene recovers from his forearm strain. Tyler Greene was hitting .296 with Memphis prior to being recalled, and is worth a look for deeper NL-only leagues until Khalil Greene comes back.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the Cardinals will call up shortstop Tyler Greene to replace Brendan Ryan, who was placed on the 15-day DL. The move is necessary because Khalil Greene figures to miss the next couple games with a sore arm.
Greene may see a couple of spot starts but he is unlikely to play an everyday role for the Cardinals. He has no fantasy value.
Tyler Greene was optioned to minor league camp by the Cardinals, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Greene was not expected to earn a role in the Cardinals' middle infield out of spring training.
