Aviles looks to be out for nine to 12 months, so don't count him into your fantasy plans until around this time next year. He originally felt pain in his elbow and forearm in spring training, but battled through it until May 23rd when he landed on the DL. That may not have been the best decision though as he hit just .183 while in the lineup this season.

Not that it would matter much anyway. After hitting .325 a season ago, Aviles was hitting just .183 before being shut down on June 3. One of the major fantasy busts of the season, he shouldn't be considered for an add whenever he does come back.

Aviles has been a disappointment so far while coming off a solid 2008 campaign. He was hitting an anemic .183 with one homer prior to landing on the DL. Fantasy owners should manage fine while he is out.
