Newsbreakers

August 11, 2009

Alexei Ramirez carried the Sox in tonight's 3-1 win at Seattle, as he went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer off David Aardsma.

Our View:

Ramirez hit a homer in two of his last three games, and has 13 for the season. This is encouraging, as he only swatted one homer in the entire month of July.

August 9, 2009

Alexei Ramirez went 3-for-4 with two RBI in Sunday's 8-4 loss to Cleveland at U.S. Cellular Field. He hit two singles and a solo homer off David Huff.

Our View:

Ramirez collected three hits in a game for the first time since July 1, which was also against Cleveland. He snapped a 21-game drought without a homer as well, and has 12 for the season.

August 7, 2009

Alexei Ramirez will return to the White Sox lineup on Friday, according to the Chicago Tribune. Ramirez has missed the last seven games with an ankle injury.

Our View:

Ramirez is hitting in the eight spot tonight, and he figures to stay near the bottom of the order unless he gets hot again. Alexei has been a fantasy disappointment this season, but his .273 average is still average.

August 6, 2009

The Chicago Tribune reports that shortstop Alexei Ramirez (ankle) could return to the lineup as soon as Friday.

Our View:

Ramirez has already missed six consecutive games, but appears to be on the mend. Upon his return he will be dropped to a lowe, "more RBI" spot in the order. Mostly due to the emergence of Gordon Beckham in the number two hole.

August 5, 2009

According to the Chicago Tribune, Alexei Ramirez will miss his sixth consecutive game on Wednesday.

Our View:

Jayson Nix continues to play short while Ramirez is nursing a right ankle sprain. He should still be considered day-to-day, and has avoided the DL so far, but if he doesn't improve soon he may be headed there.
