Jason Bourgeois has been claimed off waivers by the Houston Astros, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Bourgeois is a .200 hitter in 40 career at-bats. He has stolen 237 bases in his minor league career, however, and his speed will be his one shot at making the Astros next season.
Jason Bourgeois is starting in right field and hitting second for the Brewers on Friday. Bourgeois will likely see time in the lineup when the team faces a lefty.
Bourgeois had a very nice season for the team's Triple-A affiliate, and he provides the Brewers with more speed in their lineup. He had 36 stolen bases in the minors, so expect him to do some running when he gets on base for the Brewers.
According to the Twitter page of Brewers' VP of communications Tyler Barnes, the team has purchased the contract of outfielder Jason Bourgeois. In a corresponding move, the team designated Bill Hall for assignment.
Bourgeois is hitting .316 for the Brewers' Triple-A team this season, but his 36 stolen bases are the more impressive stat. He has speed to burn, and he should provide some nice outfield depth for Milwaukee, and if he gets some playing time he could be worth an add in NL-only formats.
