Newsbreakers

November 3, 2009

The Jays have claimed Jarrett Hoffpauir off waivers from the Cardinals, according to Toronto's official twitter page.

Our View:

Hoffpauir could develop into a solid hitter in the majors, but could also be hindered by poor defensive skills. He won't start in Toronto as long as Aaron Hill remains intact at second base as well.

July 18, 2009

Jarrett Hoffpauir has been demoted to Triple-A Memphis to make room for Mark DeRosa on the Cardinals major league roster, according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:

Hoffpauir was serviceable for the Cards during his two week cup of coffee, but didn't offer much in the way of fantasy production, and shouldn't be considered for an add in any format if he gets promoted again at some point.

July 3, 2009

Jarrett Hoffpauir got his first career hit on Friday night, and it was a big one. The rookie delivered with two outs in the ninth, singling home two and giving the Cardinals a come from behind win. They tagged the Reds 7-4.

Our View:

Hoffpauir doesn't hold any fantasy value, but this was a big moment for the youngster. He now carries a 1.000 batting average for the season and is on pace for several thousand RBI.

July 1, 2009

Jarrett Hoffpauir has been recalled from Triple-A Memphis, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Bernie Miklasz.

Our View:

Hoffpauir has no big league at-bats, and will help fill in for Mark DeRosa, who is day-to-day with a wrist injury. He was batting .276 in Memphis before the promotion. He is taking the roster spot of pitcher Clayton Mortensen.
