The Sports Network reports that the Twins have recalled catcher Jose Morales from Triple-A.

Our View:

Morales takes Joe Crede's spot on the roster, as he was placed on the DL with a lower back strain. The catcher was hitting .336 with a pair of homers and 26 RBI in 58 games with Triple-A Rochester.

The Twins have optioned catcher Jose Morales to Triple-A, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:

Morales, who was providing depth at catcher behind Joe Mauer, was replaced by Kevin Mulvey, who the Twins recalled to add an extra arm to the bullpen.

June 13, 2009

Jose Morales has been recalled by the Twins from Triple-A Rochester, according to the Star Tribune. Pitcher Anthony Swarzak was sent down to Rochester as the adjoining move.

Our View:

Morales will provide the Twins with a solid pinch-hitter, and depth at catcher behind starter Joe Mauer. Morales could stick with the team longer if either Michael Cuddyer (right index finger) or Denard Span (ear) go on the DL.

May 21, 2009

The Twins optioned catcher Jose Morales to Triple-A Rochester.

Our View:

Morales was hitting well (.358) in limited at-bats this season, but the team needed to make room for Delmon Young who was mourning the death of his mother. Morales will likely get recalled later in the season.

May 15, 2009

Jose Morales has been recalled by the Twins from Triple-A Rochester, according to MLB.com. He replaces outfielder Delmon Young on the roster, who is taking an emergency leave to deal with a family matter in California.

Our View:

Morales was hitting .340 over 47 at-bats this season, but will not hold any fantasy value as long as Joe Mauer and Mike Redmond remain intact.

May 4, 2009

Jose Morales was sent down to Triple-A Rochester by the Twins, according to the Associated Press. Reliever Jesse Crain (shoulder) was activated from the DL as the corresponding move.

Our View:

Morales was hitting .340 over 47 at-bats with Minnesota, but he fell to third on the depth chart when Joe Mauer returned. Mike Redmond is the primary backup.

April 28, 2009

Jose Morales may stick around after the Twins activate Joe Mauer from the DL, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View:

Skipper Ron Gardenhire noted that he prefers to keep Morales on the roster, as he is hitting .361 over 36 at-bats. His presence would cut into Mike Redmond's playing time if the club carries three catchers when Mauer returns.

April 26, 2009

Jose Morales had a big day at the plate on Sunday, going 4-for-4 with a double and a run scored in the Twins' loss to the Indians.

Our View:

Morales has been productive at the plate when given the chance, but with Joe Mauer due back soon his fantasy value is nonexistent. Morales is hitting .375 on the year but he only has two RBI.

April 24, 2009

Jose Morales will start behind the plate for Minnesota in tonight's game against Cleveland at Progressive Field, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View:

Morales is 6-for-24 (.250) with one RBI this season, and is only worth a look for deeper AL-only leagues.
