Jo-Jo Reyes re-injured his right hamstring during a rehab start at Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday the
The starter Reyes was hurt pitching in relief for the Braves on May 20 after losing his rotation spot. In other words, whenever he does come back, it will not be as a member of the Braves rotation. His to-date 7.00 ERA also suggests he might not be an effective reliever in 2009. His fantasy value is zero until further notice.
Jo-Jo Reyes has been sent to Triple-A to start his rehab assignment, according to
Reyes is not a solid hurler, and is only worth waiting for in deeper NL-only leagues. He held a 7.00 ERA over 27 innings this season prior to landing on the DL.
According to the
Reyes injured himself in his first appearance after being banished to the bullpen. There is no timetable for his return.
The
Reyes was pretty bad as a starter this season, so this move is not a shocker. The shocker comes from the fact that the Braves chose Medlen over top prospect Tommy Hanson. Both have been impressive in Triple-A, but Medlen has been just a bit better. He could be worth a look in NL-only leagues at this point.
Jo-Jo Reyes got blasted by the Phillies on Friday. He allowed eight runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks over just five innings. His defense let him down, but Reyes allowed three balls to leave the park in the Braves' 10-6 loss.
Homers were not a problem for Reyes this season until today. But that's what happens when you head to Philly and face a stacked lineup in a tiny ballpark. Reyes is now 0-2 with a 5.48 ERA in four starts this season.
