Max Scherzer gave up three earned runs on five hits over five innings in Friday's 4-0 loss to the Padres at Chase Field. He had three walks with six strikeouts.
Scherzer had a decent outing, but was handed a loss due to no run support. He is 0-3 over his last four starts.

The D-Backs want to limit the innings for their young hurler this season, and there is no reason to keep throwing him out there at this point. He has struck out 168 in 165.1 innings pitched this season, and Scherzer still looks like a future star in the making.
Max Scherzer got knocked around by the Rockies on Saturday. He allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits and five walks over just 5.1 innings. He fanned six, but allowed two homers and was handed his tenth loss of the season.
Scherzer hasn't been bad this month, even with Saturday's dud of an outing. He's 1-2, but his ERA stands at 3.12 over his last four starts.

Scherzer had a tough outing on the hill, and falls to 9-9 for the season. He was a disappointment after only allowing one earned run over 7.2 innings in his previous start against Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium.
