Newsbreakers

November 12, 2009

Major League Baseball announced the AL Silver Slugger award winners at MLB.com on Thursday. Rays' third baseman Evan Longoria, Yankees' shortstop Derek Jeter, Blue Jays' second baseman Aaron Hill, Yankees' first baseman Mark Teixeira, Red Sox outfielder Jason Bay, Angels' outfielder Torii Hunter, Mariners' outfielder Ichiro Suzuki, Twins' catcher Joe Mauer, and Blue Jays' DH Adam Lind were the winners.

Our View:

This was a nice mix of veterans and young players, and all had very nice seasons. Longoria is going to win plenty of these awards, and Hill and Lind were both rewarded for their breakout years.
