According to the Associated Press, Edgar Gonzalez left Tuesday's game against the Rockies with a left wrist injury.
Gonzalez injured the wrist while diving for a ball that ended up being an inside the park home run for Clint Barmes. No word on the seriousness of the injury. He was replaced by Will Venable.
The Sports Network reports that the Padres have activated Edgar Gonzalez from the 15-day DL.
Gonzalez had been on the DL since July 20th with concussion-like symptoms. He's hitting just .190 with four homers and 12 RBI this season and is fantasy irrelevant.
According to MLB.com, Edgar Gonzalez has been suffering from vertigo since landing on the DL July 20th after being hit in the head with a pitch.
Apparently Gonzalez can hit and run, but becomes dizzy afterward. He then can't move his head up or down for three days at a time. This doesn't sound good for Edgar and he won't return until the dizzy spells cease.
As expected, Edgar Gonzalez has been placed on the 15-day DL with a concussion, according to TSN. Reliever Joe Thatcher was recalled to fill his open spot on the roster.
Gonzalez is only hitting .190 with four homers over 64 games this season, and should not be missed in fantasy leagues while on the shelf.
Edgar Gonzalez is being re-examined Monday after being hit in the head by a pitch on Saturday night, and is "certainly" heading to the disabled list, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Gonzalez was down on the field for nearly five minutes after Jason Hammel's 93-mph fastball hit him. He is suffering many post-concussion like symptoms, such as ringing in the ears and other hearing issues, and isn't expected to be back any time soon.
Edgar Gonzalez was carted off the field after being struck on his helmet by a Jason Hammel fastball in the bottom of the sixth inning during tonight's battle against the Rockies, according to MLB.com.
He was down on the field for nearly five minutes before sitting up, and his injury status is yet to be updated. Adrian Gonzalez left the game at the end of the sixth inning to be with his brother.
Edgar Gonzalez was 2-for-4 with a first inning home run off Dan Haren in Sunday's 12-7 loss. He also had a double to go with two RBI and a run scored.
Adrian's older brother only has 15 at-bats this spring but he is hitting .400. He figures to back up David Eckstein this season at second base.
