Newsbreakers

June 11, 2010

The A's recalled catcher Landon Powell from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday.

Our View:

The A's placed starting catcher Kurt Suzuki on the bereavement list, so Powell gets the call again. He is hitting .261 with a homer and five RBI in 46 at-bats this season.

June 4, 2010

The A's sent catcher Landon Powell back to Triple-A on Friday.

Our View:

Powell is hitting .261 with one homer and five RBI in 46 at-bats this season, but has been shuffling back and forth from Triple-A. He's expendable now, but will likely get called up again in the future.

May 26, 2010

The A's have called up Landon Powell from the minors, according to CSN's Mychael Urban.

Our View:

He'll take the roster spot of Coco Crisp, who's headed back to the DL. There's no need for fantasy owners to bother with him.

May 21, 2010

Landon Powell has been returned to Triple-A Sacramento.

Our View:

The team needed to clear a roster spot for Coco Crisp. With Kurt Suzuki again healthy, it was only a matter of time before Powell was sent down.

April 27, 2010

Landon Powell has been recalled from the minors by Oakland, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:

The move comes less than a week after he was sent down. The A's had an extra roster spot after placing Brett Anderson on the DL, and Kurt Suzuki has a sore left side, so Powell will draw a start for them tonight.

April 23, 2010

The A's sent catcher Landon Powell back to Triple-A on Friday.

Our View:

Powell was just called up on Wednesday to take Mark Ellis' spot on the roster. In his two days with the club he never made it into a game.

April 21, 2010

Landon Powell has been recalled from Triple-A Sacramento. He is taking the roster spot of Mark Ellis, who was placed on the disabled list on Wednesday.

Our View:

Obviously, his playing time should be very limited unless injury befalls Kurt Suzuki. He's not worth a look in any format.

April 3, 2010

Landon Powell has been optioned to Triple-A Sacramento by the A's, according to their official team twitter page.

Our View:

Powell fell short in his bid to claim a backup roster spot at catcher. Ignore him for now while shipped to the minors.
