Kurt Suzuki's three-run, third inning bomb would be all the A's needed against Cleveland on Thursday, as they won 5-2 at home.

Kurt Suzuki went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI in the A's 5-4 loss to the Red Sox on Wednesday.

June 13, 2009

Kurt Suzuki is in tonight's lineup at San Francisco after missing Friday's game with a sore left knee, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:

This is good news, but Suzuki could still be hindered by the ailment tonight, making him an unstable fantasy option.

June 13, 2009

MLB.com is reporting that A's catcher Kurt Suzuki has missed the last two games after fouling a ball off of his knee in a pinch-hit at-bat on Thursday. Manager Bob Geren is hopeful Suzuki will be able to play Saturday, but he may need another day off.

Our View:

This injury isn't serious, but Suzuki is still a bit sore. Geren said that Suzuki would probably be available to pinch-hit Saturday, but he will most likely be unable to start until Sunday. We will keep you updated on his status for tonight, but if you have another option it would be wise to get it ready.

June 11, 2009

Kurt Suzuki went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI, a run scored, and two stolen bases as the A's fell to the Twins 6-3 on Wednesday.

Our View:

Suzuki had just one steal prior to tonight's game. He is not a top-flight fantasy catcher, but he plays nearly every game and makes a lot of positive contributions. He is currently on pace for 75 runs and 63 RBI while hitting .275.

May 30, 2009

Kurt Suzuki went 1-for-3 with an RBI double in Saturday's 14-1 loss at Texas.

May 18, 2009

Manager Bob Geren is high on catcher Kurt Suzuki, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Geren said, "Suzuki is an All-Star catcher, for me. I think he can develop into a perennial-type All-Star."

Our View:

The 25-year-old is having the best campaign of his career, as he is currently hitting .323 with only eight strikeouts over 124 at-bats. He should remain a solid No. 1 catcher in fantasy leagues, and is still improving.

April 30, 2009

Kurt Suzuki went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored as the A's beat the Rangers 4-2 on Thursday.

Our View:

Suzuki is 12-for-24 in his last seven games with eight RBI, and four walks. The 25-year-old plays as much as any other catcher in the league and he is hitting .343. He doesn't provide much power, but his on base ability and frequent at bats make him a valuable option in fantasy leagues.

April 26, 2009

Kurt Suzuki doubled, walked twice and drove in three runs in the A's 7-1 win over the Rays on Sunday.

Our View:

Suzuki is hitting .333 in 60 at-bats this season and is having a fine start to the 2009 season. He's tough to strike out, but needs to increase his walk total. Before the pair he drew today, he had just three on the season.

April 22, 2009

Kurt Suzuki had another big day at the plate for the A's on Wednesday, going 2-for-6 with a home run, and run scored, and three RBI. He is hitting .327 on the season.

Our View:

Suzuki has been a nice surprise so far this season, and although he doesn't provide much in the way of power or RBI's, he should put up a decent average throughout the year. He is a good AL-only catcher, and could have some value as a backup or fill-in in mixed leagues.

April 21, 2009

Kurt Suzuki went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI as the A's fell 5-3 to the Yankees. The catcher is now hitting .327 on the season.

Our View:

Suzuki should carry one of the better batting averages on the A's this season, but he's still batting eighth. A bump up the batting order would boost his fantasy value. He saw a lot of at bats last season in the two-hole, but Orlando Cabrera mans that spot now.

April 9, 2009

Kurt Suzuki was 3-for-5 with two runs scored in a 6-4 victory over the Angels on Wednesday.

Our View:

The 25-year-old catcher will catch as many games as anyone this season barring a trip to the DL. He does not exhibit much power, but he knows how to get on base and may even steal a few bags.

March 22, 2009

Kurt Suzuki was 4-for-4 with a triple, a walk, and three runs scored in Sunday's 12-10 loss to the White Sox. He went 0-for-3 throwing out base stealers.

Our View:

Suzuki should be among the better catchers in the AL once again this season. He appeared in 148 games last year while hitting .279, but it did appear that he wore out down the stretch. The 25-year-old is hitting .359 this spring.

March 16, 2009

Kurt Suzuki was ailing after parts of Bobby Wilson's bat hit off the back of his left shoulder in the third inning of the A's win over the Angels, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:

He was able to stay in the game, and the injury should not be an issue. Suzuki's batting average and power numbers could improve this season, making him a potentially nice value pick for fantasy drafts.
