Ohlendorf has quietly had a very good season for the Pirates, and he has been their best pitcher as of late. His ERA is under 4.00 at 3.97, and would be worth a fantasy look if you need a guy for one or two starts. Keep in mind that he won't be finishing out the season.

Ross Ohlendorf went 6.1 innings on Tuesday and allowed two runs on five hits while walking three and striking out six. He did not factor into the decision in the Pirates' 6-4 win over the Phillies.
Ohlendorf was impressive tonight, and that makes two very good starts in a row. His ERA has dropped to 4.10 on the season, and his hot streak as of late has pushed his fantasy value up significantly. He still plays for the Pirates, so wins may not come in bunches, but fantasy owners can benefit if he keeps pitching like this.

Ohlendorf has been very inconsistent this season, but when he is good he really gets the job done. He was good today, and when he is on he can put together a performance like today. NL-only managers should give him a look, but he is probably not worth it in mixed leagues unless it is a very deep league.

After a solid start to the season, Ohlendorf has become increasingly erratic, routinely giving up four earned runs or more. There are worse spot starting options out there, just be aware that he could sink your weekly WHIP and ERA in only a few innings of work if he is not sharp that particular day.

Russell said, "To this point, Ross has thrown the ball very well for us. You have to remember, he is still relatively young [26], as far as a starting pitcher. He is going to have moments like that throughout the season. Hopefully, we can minimize that."
Ohlendorf's next start will be Wednesday versus the Cardinals again. He is already 0-2 against St. Louis, but holds a solid 1.19 WHIP for the season and should remain employed in fantasy lineups. Thursday's loss snapped a three-game winning streak for him.

Ohlendorf is 2-2 with a 3.24 ERA in four starts and looks like a completely different pitcher than the one we saw in 2008. He doesn't strike many people out, but has displayed excellent command. His three walks today was uncharacteristic of his season so far as he only had three total in all his other starts combined.
Ross Ohlendorf was lights out in a win against the Marlins on Monday, shutting them out over seven innings off a mere two hits and one walk while striking out five.
While we don't want to take anything away from Ohlendorf's phenomenal performance, it'd probably be best not to rush to the waiver wires to pick him up unless you're in an NL-only or very deep mixed league; he was still just average in his first two starts and posted an ERA on the wrong side of 6.00 in 62.2 innings last season.

Ohlendorf had a rough 2008, but the 26-year-old right-hander has decent stuff and could be a decent late-round flyer in NL-only leagues. Of course, his upside is limited as a member of the Pirates.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette states that Ross Ohlendorf "has all but won the fourth spot in the rotation."
If he does earn a spot in the rotation, he would only be worth a look for NL-only leagues. He is a former reliever and it remains to be seen if he can hold up as a starter.
Ross Ohlendorf no-hit the Yankees for four innings in Saturday's 13-10 loss. He struck out two and walked none in the outing.
Ohlendorf has now tossed 9.1 innings and allowed just one earned run, six hits and no walks. Ohlendorf held a poor 1.87 WHIP over 62.2 innings in 2008, and needs to work on his pitching mechanics, but is expected to claim one of the rotation spots, potentially making the 26-year-old righty worth a look in deeper NL-only leagues. Gorzelanny has garnered praise in the off-season and should be a good bet for a spot as well.
