Updating a previous report, Sean Rodriguez has been named as the PTBNL in the deal for Scott Kazmir, according to the Twitter page of beat writer Marc Topkin. Rodriguez will join Matthew Sweeney and Alex Torres in the Tampa Bay organization.

Our View:

It has been rumored that Rodriguez was the PTBNL, and now it looks like it is official. The Rays made out pretty well in this deal, as Rodriguez has been a legit threat in Triple-A this season. Trading Kaz had to be tough, but at least they got a good return.

According to the Twitter page of DRaysBay.com, there are rumors circulating that Sean Rodriguez will be the player to be named later in the Scott Kazmir deal. Rodriguez is hitting .301 with 29 homers and 93 RBI for the Angels' Triple-A affiliate this season.

Our View:

If Rodriguez does turn out to be the PTBNL, it would be a pretty nice haul for the Rays in return for Kaz. Rodriguez has been tearing up Triple-A pitching this season, and it is rare that the third player in a trade like this possesses the upside that Rodriguez does. When something is confirmed, we will let you know.

Sean Rodriguez was sent back to Triple-A on Wednesday to make room for the return of Sean O'Sullivan who will start for the Angels on Wednesday.

Our View:

Rodriguez is getting to know how the Angels treat their prospects (just ask Brandon Wood). Rodriguez will return to Triple-A where he has hit .290 with 23 home runs and 79 RBI in just 81 games played.

The OC Register reports that infielder Sean Rodriguez has been recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake. The article speculates the move could signify a pending trade that involves Howie Kendrick or Brandon Wood.

Our View:

Rodriguez is a sound middle infielder who has shown the ability to get hot in the past. However, he will likely only be a spot starter for the Angels and he is not worthy of adding to your fantasy rosters.

Our View:

Rodriguez was only 2-for-17 with the Angels since being called up, so no fantasy impact here. He is better off playing every day in Triple-A, and the team is better with Kendrick as an option.

Rodriguez earned his promotion by hitting .277 with 21 homers and 60 RBI in the minors. He is worth targeting as a flier for AL-only leagues.

Rodriguez continues to crush the ball, while Howie Kendrick struggles at second base for the Angels. If these trends continue, Rodriguez could find himself as the Angels' starting second baseman in a matter of weeks.

Our View:

Rodriguez played 59 games for the Angels last season, but he hasn't cracked the majors this season. His power is quite legit after hitting 21 homers in 248 at-bats for Salt Lake last season, but he needs to cut down on his strikeouts to be a useful major leaguer.
