According to FOXSports.com, the Marlins have dealt Double-A lefty Aaron Thompson to the Nationals for Nick Johnson.
The Marlins get the high OBP they were searching for in Johnson and the Nats get a lefty who could fit into their starting rotation in the near future. Next year is probably a safer bet, but he may get an audition when the rosters expand in September. We're talking about the Nationals here, so you never know.
Aaron Thompson has been assigned to minor league camp by the Marlins, according to the Miami Herald.
The 21-year-old lefty was competing for a spot in the Marlins' bullpen. The club also sees him as a future option for their rotation, and could see time as a long-reliever this season, depending on injuries.
