Greg Reynolds underwent exploratory arthroscopic surgery Wednesday on his ailing scapula, according to
Our View:
The procedure performed by Dr. W. Ben Kibler removed some scar tissue in the area of the muscle surrounding the scapula or shoulder blade and also removed an inflammed bursa. His recovery timetable is yet to be set, but Reynolds is hopeful of being ready to participate at the start of spring training.

The former No. 2 overall pick from 2006 was brutal with Colorado last season, as in 14 games (13 starts), he threw 62.0 innings but had an ERA of 8.13 and WHIP of 1.76 while striking out a measly 22 hitters. He had previous success in the minors, so it would be foolhardy to label him anything resembling a bust, but he obviously was not ready for the show at that point.

Greg Reynolds was torched, yet again, this time to the tune of six runs while he lasted just four outs in his eighth loss of the year.
Our View:
Why? Why would the Rockies continue to run Reynolds out there when it is clear that he has no shot at success? As if it isn't hard enough to pitch in Colorado, it now appears the team is intent on destroying the confidence of their 2006 first round pick. Oh yeah, if you want numerical proof of what we are talking about here is what the numbers look like over his last four appearances: 0-2 with a 31.75 ERA and a 4.76 WHIP in 5.2 innings. Disgraceful.
