Greg Reynolds underwent exploratory arthroscopic surgery Wednesday on his ailing scapula, according to
The procedure performed by Dr. W. Ben Kibler removed some scar tissue in the area of the muscle surrounding the scapula or shoulder blade and also removed an inflammed bursa. His recovery timetable is yet to be set, but Reynolds is hopeful of being ready to participate at the start of spring training.
Greg Reynolds is expected to miss the remainder of the 2009 season, according to the
The Rockies shut him down, and now intend to work with him on his mechanics. He did not see any action with the Rockies, and held no fantasy value.
Greg Reynolds has not pitched since April 9 and will be evaluated by a team doctor today, according to
The Rockies are hopeful that Reynolds will be able to start a throwing program soon. He is yet to make his 2009 debut with the clunb.
Hurler Greg Reynolds signed with the Rockies, as the team inked him to a split-level, one-year deal, according to the
The former No. 2 overall pick from 2006 was brutal with Colorado last season, as in 14 games (13 starts), he threw 62.0 innings but had an ERA of 8.13 and WHIP of 1.76 while striking out a measly 22 hitters. He had previous success in the minors, so it would be foolhardy to label him anything resembling a bust, but he obviously was not ready for the show at that point.
Greg Reynolds was torched, yet again, this time to the tune of six runs while he lasted just four outs in his eighth loss of the year.
Why? Why would the Rockies continue to run Reynolds out there when it is clear that he has no shot at success? As if it isn't hard enough to pitch in Colorado, it now appears the team is intent on destroying the confidence of their 2006 first round pick. Oh yeah, if you want numerical proof of what we are talking about here is what the numbers look like over his last four appearances: 0-2 with a 31.75 ERA and a 4.76 WHIP in 5.2 innings. Disgraceful.
