September 30, 2009

Chris Dickerson has been activated by the Cincinnati Reds, according to beat writer Mark Sheldon. Dickerson has been out with an ankle injury since August 24.

Our View:

Dickerson will be available off the bench for the Reds tonight, and he will likely get a few starts down the stretch this week. He won't hold much fantasy value, but this is good for both Dickerson and the Reds.

September 29, 2009

MLB.com reports that Chris Dickerson participated in batting practice on Tuesday and is hoping to rejoin the team before the end of the season.

Our View:

Dickerson, who has been out with an ankle injury since August 24th, expects to be playing with the Reds at some point this week. There is no reason to push him, as the Reds have been out of the race for months, but he's apparently itching to get back on the field. Dickerson is hitting .277 with two homers and 15 RBI this season.

August 24, 2009

As expected, Chris Dickerson has been placed on the 15-day DL with a sprained left ankle, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:

He is batting .277 with two homers and 15 RBI over 253 at-bats with the Reds this season, and should not hurt fantasy owners while on the shelf.

August 24, 2009

MLB.com is reporting that the Reds plan to place outfielder Chris Dickerson on the 15-day DL with a sprained ankle. Dickerson injured the ankle in the fourth inning of Sunday's game.

Our View:

Nothing is broken, but the injury is being called bad by the team. Dickerson is in a boot, and he won't be able to run for a decent amount of time. He has been plagued by injury this season, so this should come as no surprise.

August 23, 2009

Chris Dickerson had to be carried off the field in the fourth inning of the Reds game against the on Sunday after injuring his left ankle, according to MLB.com's Noah Coslov.

Our View:

More to come as the severity of the injury becomes known.

August 21, 2009

Chris Dickerson went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the Reds' 5-2 loss to the Pirates on Friday.

Our View:

Dickerson has been a spark plug since coming off the disabled list on August 11th. He's 12-for-32 since his return with an OBP near .450 and has been a nice boost for the Reds in the leadoff spot.

August 11, 2009

As expected, Chris Dickerson has been activated from the 15-day disabled list.

Our View:

Dickerson, batting .259 through 220 at-bats this season, is batting leadoff and playing center field for the Reds tonight. He has two home runs and 13 RBI this season.

August 11, 2009

According to MLB.com, the Cincinnati Reds are expected to activate outfielder Chris Dickerson before Tuesday night's game in St. Louis. No corresponding roster move has been announced as of yet.

Our View:

Dickerson has finished his rehab assignment, and it seems like a pretty good bet that he will be in the lineup tonight. He has a lot of talent, but he doesn't project much fantasy value for the rest of 2009.

August 10, 2009

MLB.com is reporting that the Cincinnati Reds are hoping to get outfielder Chris Dickerson back sometime during their series against the Cardinals. Dickerson is 2-for-11 on his rehab stint with Triple-A Louisville.

Our View:

Look for Dickerson to come back in the next day or so barring a setback, as it sounds like Dusty Baker wants to have him back with the big club. Dickerson has had an injury-plagued season, but he still has some ability when healthy.

August 8, 2009

Reds' outfielder Chris Dickerson has reported to Triple-A Louisville to begin his rehab assignment, according to MLB.com. Dickerson is recovering from a bruised right rotator cuff.

Our View:

The team would like to get Dickerson back ASAP, so he will likely return soon assuming he doesn't suffer a setback during his rehab assignment. He is hitting .259 for the Reds this season, and he will have very little fantasy value upon his return.

July 27, 2009

Chris Dickerson (shoulder) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, according to the team.

Our View:

Dickerson was forced to leave the team's game on Sunday with the injury. Expect Jonny Gomes to now get even more playing time in the Reds injury depleted outfield. Shortstop Drew Sutton has been called up to take his roster spot.

July 26, 2009

Chris Dickerson was forced to leave the team's 5-2 loss in the eighth inning on Sunday with a jammed shoulder, according to MLB.com.

Our View:

Dickerson has battled a bad back for much of the season, as well, and could be shut down for a little while. He is scheduled for an MRI on Monday in Cincinnati.

July 17, 2009

Chris Dickerson is back in the Reds' lineup for their Friday night game against the Brewers. Dickerson missed Thursday's game with back spasms.

Our View:

Dickerson must be feeling better tonight, because he is in the lineup and hitting seventh. It may be wise to keep him out for a few days since he hasn't played in a week, but if you need him he is good to go tonight.

July 16, 2009

Updating a previous report, Reds' beat writer Mark Sheldon is reporting on his Twitter page that outfielder Chris Dickerson has been scratched from Thursday's lineup due to back spasms. No word yet on who will replace him in the lineup.

Our View:

Dickerson had been feeling better, but apparently he showed up at the field and was sore today. If you had him in the lineup, get him out for tonight for sure and check back on his status for the weekend.

July 16, 2009

According to the Twitter page of the Cincinnati Reds, outfielder Chris Dickerson will return to the lineup for Thursday night's game against Milwaukee. Dickerson left the Reds' final game before the break on Sunday with back spasms.

Our View:

It looks like the back spasms were minor, so Dickerson is good to go for fantasy lineups tonight. With about half of the league being off, anyone who has Dickerson on their bench should get him in tonight.

July 12, 2009

Chris Dickerson left the Reds' game on Sunday with lower back spasms. He was 1-for-3 with an RBI before leaving the game.

Our View:

It doesn't look like this is too serious, especially with the All-Star break coming up. He should get a few days of rest and be ready to go, but we will keep you updated on his condition.

May 17, 2009

Chris Dickerson seemed to be the only player on the Reds that could get to Jake Peavy on Sunday. He finished the game 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, an RBI, and a run scored as the Reds fell 3-1. He started in centerfield and hit leadoff in place of Willy Taveras.

Our View:

Dickerson hasn't seen many starts this season, and he has not been effective in his fourth outfielder role. He has good enough tools to keep an eye on him, but as of now he is not fantasy worthy.

April 28, 2009

According to MLB.com, Chris Dickerson will avoid the DL and should be available to return to the lineup on Friday. He suffered a head injury in Monday's game against the Astros.

Our View:

His status improve dramatically in just one day and with an off-day on Thursday, the Reds feel he will be ready to go this weekend.

April 28, 2009

Chris Dickerson exited Monday's game with concussion-like symptoms, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. He banged heads with Astros' shortstop Miguel Tejada while sliding into second base in the fourth inning.

Our View:

Dickerson will be re-evaluated today. He previously suffered four-or-five concussions. Jerry Hairston Jr. and Laynce Nix would be candidates to replace Dickerson in the outfield if forced to miss time.

April 27, 2009

Chris Dickerson was benched Sunday in favor of Laynce Nix, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Dickerson was forced to ride the pine as he struck out 12 times over his last 19 at-bats. Manager Dusty Baker said, "He has got skill. We are just trying to get him to the point where the main thing is trying to get him to relax, and not life and death with everything. That sometimes happens when you have young players."

Our View:

Dickerson is only hitting .190 over 42 at-bats for the season and should not be considered for fantasy lineups.

April 11, 2009

Chris Dickerson is itching to get into the lineup for the Reds, but a slew of opposing lefties, as well as a rainout, has kept him on the bench, according to MLB.com. Dickerson was slated to play Friday, which happened to be his 27th birthday, but the game was washed away by rain. "It's one of those things," Dickerson said. "I guess I will be patient, stay prepared and keep doing business as usual. I will keep coming in and [hitting] and be ready to come in any time during the game, once the lefty is out."

Our View:

Given that Dickerson is on the "right" side of a platoon with Jerry Hairston in left field, he will get his at-bats soon enough.

March 1, 2009

Chris Dickerson drove in four runs on three hits, including a home run, as the Reds outslugged the Yankees 13-11 Sunday afternoon.

Our View:

The 26-year-old Dickerson impressed in only 31 games with the Reds last season, batting .304 with six homers and 15 RBI.
