Newsbreakers

October 4, 2009

Brent Lillibridge went 1-for-2 with two RBI in the White Sox's 5-3 loss to the Tigers on Sunday. Lillibridge finished the season with a .158 average.

Our View:

Lillibridge did most of the offensive damage for the Sox today, but if his average is any indication, it won't happen like that often. He spent much of the year in the minors, and he doesn't have great fantasy potential.

August 14, 2009

The Chicago Tribune reports that the White Sox have recalled infielder Brent Lillibridge from Triple-A.

Our View:

He takes the roster spot left by Chris Getz who landed on the DL with an oblique strain and will provide depth in the infield.

August 1, 2009

The White Sox have optioned infielder Brent Lillibridge back to Triple-A Charlotte.

Our View:

Lillibridge spent only one day with the Pale Hose this time around. He has no fantasy value.

July 31, 2009

Brent Lillibridge has been recalled by the White Sox from Triple-A Charlotte, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:

Lillibridge is only hitting .162 over 68 at-bats with Chicago this season, and does not merit fantasy attention for his latest stint with the club.

May 19, 2009

Brent Lillibridge has been optioned to Triple-A Charlotte by the White Sox, according to the Sports Network. The club activated outfielder Brian Anderson from the DL as the corresponding move.

Our View:

Lillibridge was given a chance to play due to injuries, but failed to protect his spot on the roster as he hit an anemic .162 over 68 at-bats, with 21 strikeouts.

May 17, 2009

Brent Lillibridge will start in center field for today's game at Toronto, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:

Scott Podsednik will roam in left field. Lillibridge only has one hit over his last 14 at-bats, and is an unstable fantasy option for today.

May 11, 2009

Brent Lillibridge will start in center field tonight against the Indians at Progressive Field, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:

Lillibridge only has one hit over his last three games (nine at-bats), but has a favorable match-up against opposing hurler Carl Pavano (2-3, 6.61 ERA). He has solid speed and is worth a look for deeper AL-only leagues.

April 28, 2009

Brent Lillibridge will start at second base in the first game of tonight's doubleheader against the Mariners at U.S. Cellular Field, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:

Chris Getz was optimistic he could return from his finger injury today, but manager Ozzie Guillen opted to keep him out. Lillibridge has good speed, but is only hitting .161 over 31 at-bats, and should only be considered for deeper AL-only leagues for tonight.

April 15, 2009

Brent Lillibridge will start at second base and bat leadoff in today's game against the Tigers at Comerica Park, according to the Chicago Tribune. Chris Getz is still nursing his bruised right elbow.

Our View:

Lillibridge has struck out three times over six career at-bats against Detroit, but he has speed and is worth a look for deeper AL-only leagues while batting atop Chicago's lineup.

April 14, 2009

According to the Chicago Tribune, Brent Lillibridge is hitting in the leadoff spot and playing second base for the White Sox in Tuesday's game against the Tigers.

Our View:

Lillibridge is starting in place of Chris Getz, who is still recovering from a right elbow bruise.

April 11, 2009

Brent Lillibridge is hitting leadoff for the White Sox today against the Twins, according to the Chicago Tribune. He is the team's third different leadoff man in five games.

Our View:

Lillibridge has received just two at-bats thus far. He is replacing Chris Getz in the lineup at second base.

March 16, 2009

Brent Lillibridge was 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in Monday's 11-7 loss to the Royals. He played both shortstop and center field in the game.

Our View:

Lillibridge has had a forgettable spring to date, as he has watched the strikeouts pile up. The White Sox would like to keep him around in a utility role, but Laynce Nix and Wilson Betemit have both outperformed him in that competition.

February 26, 2009

Brent Lillibridge had a nice day at the plate Thursday, collecting two hits in four trips to help lead the White Sox to a 4-1 win over the Rockies.

Our View:

With Orlando Cabrera likely on his way out, the shortstop position may be Lillibridge's position to lose. Barring an unprecedented spring by prospect Gordon Beckham, expect Lillibridge to beat out Wilson Betemit, who's more of a third baseman by trade, to win the spot.

January 31, 2009

White Sox GM Ken Williams feels that infielder Brent Lillibridge has the ability to steal 40 bases in a season, according to The Chicago Tribune.

Our View:

Lillibridge was acquired from the Braves in the Javier Vazquez trade. He will contend for the starting second baseman job this spring. In 29 games last season, he stole two bases.
