Castill suffered the injury while sliding head first in a game against the White Sox on June 20th. He is not expected back this season.
According to TSN.com, the Cincinnati Reds have placed Wilkin Castillo on the DL with a torn labrum in his right shoulder. This move made room for the activation of first baseman Joey Votto.
Castillo is expected to miss most, if not all, of the season after this injury. He held no fantasy value, so this shouldn't leave anyone scrambling, but don't expect to see him again this year.
According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the Reds have optioned Wilkin Castillo to Triple-A Louisville to make room for Saturday's starter Matt Maloney. Castillo went 1-for-2 in three appearances for this Reds during this second stint with the team.
Castillo held no fantasy value as a backup catcher, so this move shouldn't affect anyone's team. He will not impact any fantasy teams this season, but there is a chance that his replacement, Matt Maloney, could. Castillo could be back with the Reds at some point this season.
Wilkin Castillo was called back up to join the Reds on Saturday, according to MLB.com. He will take the roster spot of Joey Votto, who was placed on the DL with stress related issues.
Castillo will provide depth but not a lot of production for the Reds. He was hitting .196 at Triple-A. Ramon Hernandez figures to see more starts at first base, making Castillo the No. 2 catcher on those nights.
Wilkin Castillo has been optioned to Triple-A Louisville by the Reds, according to MLB.com. Reliever Nick Masset was activated from the DL as the adjoining move.
The 24-year-old utility man was recalled earlier in the week, but did not get any action at the plate.
ESPN.com is reporting that the Reds have recalled Wilkin Castillo from Triple-A Louisville. He will replace Homer Bailey, who was sent down after his start.
Castillo was hitting a stellar .201 in Triple-A, so everyone rush out and pick him up immediately. Just kidding. No one should add Castillo, as he is not a good hitter and he has no fantasy value.
