The A's have released Jay Marshall, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Marshall had been returned to the A's from the Mets just yesterday after failing a physical, though the A's didn't have room on their roster for him. Clearly, there is no need for any fantasy owners to bother with him.
Left-hander Jay Marshall has been returned to the A's due to the fact that Major League Baseball has voided the Mets' claim.
He was claimed off waivers by the Mets in January, but had a shoulder injury when he was signed so the commissioner ruled that he be sent back to the A's.
The Mets are trying to void their waiver claim of pitcher Jay Marshall, according to Adam Rubin of the New York Daily News. The Amazins claimed him early last month.
Apparently, the Amazins only now discovered that he had a "pre-existing" shoulder injury. This is shocking, since it goes against their modus operandi of having the best doctors in all of sports. Seriously, this team might want to consider bringing in a whole new medical staff. Hopefully Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran have some outside consultants.
The Mets have claimed Jay Marshall off waivers from the A's, according to MLB.com.
The lefty logged and respectable 3.20 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with Triple-A Sacramento last season and could develop into a decent lefty specialist.
