October 19, 2009

Matt Kemp launched a deep home run to center field in the fifth inning on Monday, but the Dodgers still managed to lose in the ninth to the Phillies. Kemp was 1-for-4 in the game with two runs scored and an RBI.

Our View:

Kemp's homer was a bomb, but the Dodgers still fell to the Phillies on a Jimmy Rollins walk-off double. If LA is going to mount a comeback in this NLCS, Kemp is just one of the players that will need to hit the ball.

October 1, 2009

Matt Kemp's first inning single would be the only hit the Dodgers would get on Wednesday night, as the Padres dominated L.A. for a 4-0 win at home.

Our View:

It figures that Kemp would be the Dodger to record the team's lone hit. The 25-year-old outfielder has done it all this season, batting .301 with 26 home runs, 100 RBI and 34 stolen bases.

September 24, 2009

Matt Kemp finished a double short of the cycle on Thursday as the Dodgers beat the Nationals 7-6. Kemp went 3-for-5 with a homer, a triple, two runs scored, and three RBI.

Our View:

Kemo continues his strong 2009 campaign, and he has established himself as one of the better fantasy outfielders in the game. He can do it all, and he now has 100 RBI on the season.

September 16, 2009

Matt Kemp hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning on Wednesday, as the Dodgers beat the Pirates 3-1 at home.

Our View:

He hit the homer batting cleanup, just the 17th time he had done so all season. With Kemp now sporting 94 RBI on the season, expect to see him batting there a lot more in 2010.

September 2, 2009

MLBlogs.com reports that Matt Kemp is hitting cleanup in Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Our View:

Kemp has hit all over the Dodgers lineup this season (including eighth), but finds himself in the power spot on Wednesday. It likely has to do with the fact that Kemp has homered in four straight games and is tearing the cover off the ball right now.

September 2, 2009

Matt Kemp went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, stolen base and pair of runs scored in Tuesday's 4-3 win over Arizona.

Our View:

Matt Kemp kept his hot hitting alive with Tuesday's game. He's now homered in four straight games and has driven in seven over that span. He's also hit over .300 in all but one month this season (May).

August 30, 2009

Matt Kemp went 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in the Dodgers 3-2, 12-inning win over the Reds.

Our View:

Kemp now has eight homers and 26 RBI in August and is making a case for player of the month. He's scored 21 runs, stolen six bases and racked up 67 total bases to go with an average above .300.

August 29, 2009

Matt Kemp went 2-for-5 with a three-run bomb on Saturday, helping the Dodgers paste the Reds 11-4 in Cincinnati.

Our View:

Kemp now has 83 RBI on the season, and is rolling toward his first 100 RBI campaign.

August 27, 2009

Hitting out of the two hole on Thursday, Matt Kemp went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI, helping the Dodgers beat the Rockies 3-2, and regain a four-game lead in the NL West.

Our View:

Kemp has driven in 80 runs this year batting primarily at the bottom of the Dodgers lineup. With 28 games remaining, he is a decent bet to post his first 100-RBI campaign this season.

August 22, 2009

Matt Kemp led the way for the Dodgers on Saturday as LA blanked the Cubs by a score of 2-0. Kemp went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the game.

Our View:

Kemp gave the Dodgers all the offense they would need with his second inning home run, and he remains an excellent fantasy play. He can hit for average and power, he drives in runs, and he steals bases. Kemp is one of the most well-rounded fantasy players in the league at this point.

August 22, 2009

Matt Kemp was the only player for either team to register a multi-hit game on Friday. He went 2-for-4 in the 2-1 win over the Cubs.

Our View:

Kemp is now hitting .312 on the season and has already registered four homers, three steals and 17 RBI this month. He's a nice fantasy balance of average, power and speed.

August 18, 2009

MLB.com reports that Matt Kemp is not in the starting lineup for the Dodgers on Tuesday night due to a mild case of the flu.

Our View:

Juan Pierre replaces Kemp in the lineup and will hit second. Kemp has a light fever and it is unknown when he will be up to snuff. Consider him day-to-day for now and adjust your lineups accordingly.

August 14, 2009

Matt Kemp drove in the Dodgers' only lone run on Friday, as Los Angeles got shutdown by Dan Haren and the Diamondbacks 4-1 in Arizona.

Our View:

Kemp has 17 RBI this month, and has been L.A.'s most consistent run-producer. Expect him to keep it up.

August 2, 2009

Matt Kemp exploded for a 3-for-5, five RBI night on Sunday in the Dodgers' 9-1 win over the Braves. He also ripped his 14th homer of the season.

Our View:

Kemp spent some time hitting eighth in the lineup, but hit in the fifth spot on Sunday and responded brilliantly. The five RBI tied a season-high total, which he has matched three times. He now has nine ribbies in his last five games.

July 30, 2009

Matt Kemp led the Dodgers in tonight's 5-3 win at St. Louis, as he went 3-for-5 with three RBI. All three of his knocks were singles, and he also swiped a base.

Our View:

Kemp is riding a five-game hitting streak, and raised his team-leading batting average to .316. The rising star continues to perform well for fantasy owners.

July 19, 2009

Matt Kemp continued his hot start to the second half on Sunday in the Dodgers' 4-3 win over the Astros. Kemp went 3-for-3 with a home run, four runs scored, and an RBI in the win.

Our View:

Kemp's average is now up to .321 on the season, and he looks to be well on his way to surpass a 20 homer, 20 steal season. He has 12 long balls and 19 steals so far, and he is a stat sheet filler for all fantasy owners. Kemp is not disappointing on the immense promise he has shown thus far in his career.

July 19, 2009

Matt Kemp went 1-for-4 with two RBI on Saturday as Clayton Kershaw silenced the Astros 5-2 in L.A.

Our View:

Kemp is now batting .315 on the season. He has performed well in the second halves of seasons so far in his young career, so you can expect more big things going forward.

July 10, 2009

Matt Kemp carried the Dodgers offensively in tonight's 12-8 win at Milwaukee, as he went 3-for-5 with four RBI. He hit a single, double and a grand slam off Carlos Villanueva.

Our View:

Kemp ended a nine-game skid without a homer, and has 11 for the season. He extended his hitting streak to seven games as well, with nine RBI over the span.

June 28, 2009

Matt Kemp launched his tenth home run of the season on Sunday, but it wasn't enough as the Dodgers fell to the Mariners by a score of 4-2. Kemp was 1-for-4 on the day with the solo shot.

Our View:

Kemp may not be tearing the league up, but he is having more than just an average season. He is hitting a very solid .311, and he has 18 steals to go along with his ten homers. He is still a very strong play in all leagues, as he puts up numbers in all categories.

June 25, 2009

Matt Kemp had perhaps the worst game of his season on Thursday in the Dodger's 6-5 extra inning loss to the White Sox. He was 0-for-6 with four strikeouts, stranding six runners.

Our View:

Kemp is now one for his last 13 with eight strikeouts. He has had a few mini slumps this season, but has tended to snap out of them quickly. He is safe to keep starting and a top flight outfield option.

June 24, 2009

Matt Kemp was productive in tonight's 10-7 loss at the White Sox, as he went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer off reliever Jimmy Gobble.

Our View:

Kemp is hitting .333 with three homers and 10 RBI so far this month, and he snapped a five-game skid without an RBI.

June 13, 2009

Matt Kemp carried the Dodgers offensively in Saturday's 3-1 win at Texas, as he went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer. His other hit was a single.

Our View:

Kemp hit his second homer over his last four games, and now has eight for the season. He raised his season average to .309 tonight as well.

June 10, 2009

Matt Kemp went 3-for-3 with two RBI in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Padres at Dodger Stadium. He hit a single and a solo homer.

Our View:

Kemp raised his season average to .314, and has a hit in 12 of his last 13 games. He ended a seven-game slump without a homer as well.

May 31, 2009

Matt Kemp went 2-for-4 with a walk, his sixth home run and his 12th stolen base batting from the No. 6 spot in the Dodgers' lineup.

Our View:

Kemp continues to be a fantasy stud despite being shuffled around Los Angeles' lineup, often between Nos. 6 and 8. It doesn't look like he'll meet the 40-40 prediction that he made for himself prior to the season, but fantasy owners will still be more than pleased if he can approach 20 home runs and 35 steals while batting around .300.

May 30, 2009

Matt Kemp went 2-for-3 in Saturday's 7-0 loss at Chicago. Both of his knocks were singles.

Our View:

The Dodgers only had five hits in the game. Kemp has a four-game hitting streak, but no homers and only one RBI over the span.

May 25, 2009

Matt Kemp was 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs scored, and a walk as the Dodgers defeated the Rockies 16-6 on Monday.

Our View:

Kemp had gone nine games without an RBI. He seems to have busted out of his mini-slump over the weekend. He is 8-for-18 in his last four games.

May 20, 2009

Matt Kemp is not in the Dodgers' lineup on Wednesday, according to MLBlogs.com. He will be replaced by Xavier Paul in center field in the game.

Our View:

Just a day off for Kemp, so nothing to worry about here. Paul hasn't played much since coming up, so the team wants to get him some at-bats. Kemp should be back in the lineup for the Dodgers' next game, but get him out tonight if you can.

May 14, 2009

Matt Kemp was 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, an RBI, and a run scored on Thursday as the Dodgers downed the Phillies 5-3 in ten innings.

Our View:

Kemp continues to produce for fantasy owners, and he is expected to continue to do so all season. He has four triples on the year to go along with eight stolen bases, and expect his home run numbers to continue to climb.

May 8, 2009

Matt Kemp went 3-for-5 with a grand slam on Thursday in the Dodgers' 11-9 loss to the Nationals. Kemp had five RBI to go along with his three hits.

Our View:

This was supposed to be a breakout year for Kemp, ad he hasn't disappointed so far. Although he only has 4 home runs, he has 22 RBI and seven stolen bases. Expect him to continue to drive in runs and steal some bases along the way, and with Manny gone for the next 50 games he should move up in the order.

April 19, 2009

Matt Kemp went 3-for-5 with two home runs, a double, five RBI, and three runs scored in Sunday's 14-2 win over the Rockies.

Our View:

Kemp has 14 RBI through 13 games and it doesn't seem as if his low spot (7th) in the batting order has had any effect on his production. He is off to a red hot start, and there are few outfielders in the league producing at this level. He has the ability to be an all-star for several seasons if he can stay healthy.

April 9, 2009

Matt Kemp was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI on Thursday as the Dodgers gave up three runs in the eighth in a 4-3 loss to San Diego.

Our View:

Kemp has produced right off the bat while manning the seventh hole in the Dodgers' lineup. He has six hits in 15 at-bats this season and is hitting .400.

April 6, 2009

Matt Kemp was 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, and a strikeout while hitting seventh in Monday's 4-1 win over the Padres. He went deep off of Jake Peavy in the seventh inning.

Our View:

Kemp has an intriguing combination of power in speed, but his production figures to be hindered somewhat by his low spot in the batting order. Regardless, he figures to be in line to be an excellent fantasy producer in 2009.

March 23, 2009

Matt Kemp drove in a pair of runs Monday in a 10-4 loss to the Angels. He finished the game 1-for-4.

Our View:

There are rumblings out there that the 24-year-old Kemp may be headed for a breakout season, but that depends on your definition of "breakout." Kemp's home run total jumped by eight last season, but that's primarily because he played in 57 more games in '08 than he did in '07. Regardless, even if his numbers hold steady in '09, the talented Kemp is a solid lock to produce in NL-only leagues and could mature into a difference-maker in mixed leagues.

March 22, 2009

Matt Kemp went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 11-4 win over Texas. He started in center field and hit sixth in the lineup.

Our View:

There has been some speculation the Kemp will hit seventh in the Dodgers order once Manny returns to the lineup. Such a move would figure to hinder his fantasy value some. The 24-year-old has exceptional potential, but he needs to figure out righties and soon. He hit only .260/.309/.416 off of them a season ago.

March 1, 2009

Matt Kemp went 1-for-3 on Sunday with a run and a stolen base. It was already his second swiped bag of the spring.

Our View:

Kemp's speed is a big part of his appeal. He stole 35 bases last year and could improve on that as he now has more major league experience.

February 28, 2009

Matt Kemp had a decent game for the Dodgers on Saturday, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Our View:

Kemp will see plenty of playing time in 2009, especially if the Dodgers somehow don't bring back Manny Ramirez. He can be counted for a decent average, around 20 home runs and possibly 100 RBI in 2009 if he continues to progress.
