According to InsidetheRockies.com, catcher Chris Iannetta will be the team's starter behind the plate next season. Iannetta began this season as the starter, but was replaced by Yorvit Torrealba as the everyday man in the second half.

Our View:

Many thought Iannetta was primed for a breakout offensive season this year, but he was a huge disappointment. At times he showed the power that was expected, but his .228 average just wasn't good enough. He might worth a late-round gamble again next season, but fantasy owners should put all their eggs in his basket again.

Chris Iannetta became an instant hero for the Rockies on Tuesday night when he blasted a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the 11th inning to give them a 7-5 walk-off winner.

Our View:

Iannetta has started just one game since September 11th and has just one game with four at-bats all month, so he's pretty much been fantasy irrelevant, but the Rockies are riding high right now because of his one big swing.

Chris Iannetta had a nice afternoon at the plate on Thursday in the Rockies' 8-3 loss to the Mets. Iannetta went 2-for-4 with a triple, a homer, a run scored, and an RBI in the loss.

Our View:

Iannetta has largely been a fantasy disappointment this season, and his average is still at .223 for the season. He has shown some power with 15 homers and 50 RBI, but the team has shown that they will sit him in favor or Yorvit Torrealba if he struggles.

The Denver Post is reporting that the Rockies may sit catcher Chris Iannetta for the second straight game on Friday as he tries to get out of his most recent slump. Iannetta is hitting .195 in the month of August, and his average is at .221 on the season.

Our View:

Iannetta has struggled all season, but his power is keeping him relevant in fantasy circles. He has 14 homers and 49 RBI, which aren't bad out of a catcher, but if he doesn't start bringing his average up he may find himself on the bench. If Iannetta is your starter, it may be time to see if there is another option out there. If not, which is likely since the catching pool in free agency can be very thin, stick with him and take the 0-for-4 nights for the chance at the occasional home run.

Chris Iannetta hit a dramatic three run home run in the ninth inning on Friday night to bring the Rockies to within one of the Marlins, but they couldn't close the deal, as Florida won 6-5 at home.

Our View:

With 14 home runs and 49 RBI this season, Iannetta is a solid-option at backstop.

Chris Iannetta led the Rockies in tonight's 5-3 win at Cincinnati, as he went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and two RBI.

Our View:

Iannetta hit his 12th homer of the season, with the assistance of launching pad Great American Ballpark. He should remain a nice source for power among catchers if fantasy owners can deal with his anemic .226 batting average.

Our View:

Iannetta snapped a 19-game drought without a homer, and now has 11 for the season. He could be a good source for power among catchers in the second half, if fantasy owners can handle his .228 batting average.

Chris Iannetta had a double and three RBI in the Rockies' 7-1 win over the Mariners on Sunday. Iannetta went 1-for-4 in the game and scored a run as well.

Our View:

Iannetta returned from the disabled list earlier this week, and he looks to be recovering nicely. If he gets it figured out at the plate, he could be a strong condidate to have a big second half. Keep an eye on him going forward.

Our View:

He will return to the diamond tonight at Milwaukee, and will bat eighth in the order. He was a good source for power among catchers with eight homers prior to going down, and should be penciled back into lineups.

After missing over two weeks with a strained right hamstring, catcher Chris Iannetta is expected to be activated from the disabled list tomorrow to join the Rockies for their series in Milwaukee according to The Denver Post.

Our View:

In 39 games this season, Iannetta is batting .231 with eight home runs and 19 RBIs. He is not an elite fantasy option, but can be serviceable in NL leagues or deep mixed leagues because of his power.

MLBlogs.com is reporting that Chris Iannetta is close to returning to the Rockies lineup. Iannetta is scheduled to catch nine innings on Saturday night and Sunday at Triple-A, and he could return Tuesday if all goes well.

Our View:

Iannetta has been on the DL since May 24, but it looks like he will be ready to rejoin the team on Tuesday. He is 3-for-7 with a home run and three RBI so far in his rehab stint, so be ready to play him when he returns.

Inside the Rockies reports that injured catcher Chris Iannetta (hamstring) homered in his second at-bat Tuesday during his first game of a rehab stint.

Our View:

Iannetta is slated to appear in six games during his rehab stretch and looks to be progressing nicely. He has been on the DL since May 24th and if all goes well he could rejoin the team on June 9th.

The catcher is participating in light running, and could have played this weekend if he wasn't placed on the DL. The Rockies opted to play it safe however, and he won't be back until mid-June.

The Denver Post is reporting that the Rockies have placed catcher Chris Iannetta on the 15-day DL due to a hamstring injury.

Our View:

No surprise here, as it was expected that Iannetta would go on the DL. Yorvit Torrealba will start in place of Iannetta in his absence, and the team will also call up Paul Phillips from Triple-A.

Chris Iannetta was 2-for-3 with his eighth home run of the season on Saturday before exiting in the sixth inning after straining his right hamstring while running the bases, according to Yahoo! Sports. "Obviously, a hamstring injury is going to problematic for a catcher," manager Clint Hurdle said.

Our View:

Iannetta is listed as day-to-day for the moment, although Hurdle's words weren't exactly the most encouraging. Yorvit Torrealba will play in Iannetta's absence, and it seems like it'd probably be best to sit Iannetta next week, especially since he hasn't exactly been the most productive hitter anyways, outside of his power.

Our View:

After a pathetic start, Iannetta has been considerably better over the last few weeks. Many people predicted a big season for the Rockies' catcher this year, and he is starting to live up to those predictions. He still has a long way to go, but he should put a decent number of homers and RBI's on the board this year.

Iannetta had a dreadful start to the season, but has been steadily improving this month and is showing that he's capable of some real power. The slugging catcher now has seven homers and 16 RBI has recently returned to the ranks of startable fantasy catcher.

Our View:

The struggling catcher has five hits in his last four games, all at home, and he has raised his batting average from .097 to .174 in that span. He is a very streaky hitter, and he could be on the verge of a breakout. Hopefully.

Our View:

Iannetta is just 5-for-36 on the year and despite what Hurdle is saying, one would have to think that Yorvit Torrealba will certainly start to get a few more looks if Chris continues to struggle like this.

Chris Iannetta had two hits for the Rockies on Friday, but the team dropped the game to the Dodgers 6-5. Iannetta scored two runs while raising his average to .139.

Our View:

Iannetta has been awful so far this year, but he had a nice night tonight. If you have another option on the roster you should go with that, but you may want to hold on to Iannetta if you can afford it. He has the potential to hit for some power if he figures things out, but right now he is not good.

Chris Iannetta finally collected his second hit of the season as the Rockies fell 14-2 to the Dodgers. It was his only hit in three at bats and his second home run of the season.

Our View:

Iannetta is having an awful start to the season, but his owners from last season will be the first to tell you that he is incredibly streaky. Hopefully today's home run will kick start a hot streak. If he doesn't get going soon. Yorvit Torrealba could start taking away more playing time.

Our View:

There are some high expectations surrounding the catcher as he heads into 2009. He had 18 home runs and 65 RBI in 333 at-bats a year ago, but he figures to see more starts this season. He looked good in the WBC and should be in line for the best season of his young career.

Iannetta has had a strong spring between the Rockies and Team USA. We think he's a breakout candidate at catcher this season. Gotta love the Coors field factor.

Chris Iannetta has accepted an invitation to play for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, MLB.com reports. He will join Brian McCann as the club's catchers.

Our View:

The rosters aren't final, but Iannetta is a good pick to play alongside (behind) McCann. We like the 2009 fantasy outlook for the Rockies catcher and a strong WBC showing would only help.
