Micah Owings struggled in his first start since coming off the DL on Friday. He allowed five runs on five hits and a walk in five innings and took the loss as the Reds fell 5-2 to the Pirates.
Owings, known more for his live bat than his limp arm, was 1-for-2 at the plate Friday. He has an ERA near 9.00 in his last five starts.
According to the
Owings will start for (and swap roster spots with) the injured Johnny Cueto. He will take the hill Friday against the Pirates, but his 5.35 ERA should tell you to leave him off your fantasy roster.
A day after leaving his most recent start after just two innings with shoulder tightness, Micah Owings has been placed on the disabled list, according to the
The Reds might miss him more for his slugging ability, however, than his pitching. In 18 starts this season, he has gone 6-11 with a 5.35 ERA and ugly 1.64 WHIP. Reliever Robert Manuel has been recalled to take his roster spot.
Micah Owings lost for the 11th time this season on Sunday, pitching just two innings of a 5-2 Reds loss in Chicago.
He actually left because of shoulder tightness, however, and not his general ineffectiveness. Owings now has a downright ugly 1.64 WHIP, and is miles away from being able to help your fantasy team. Owings is due to have the shoulder examined on Monday.
Micah Owings was lit up for seven earned runs on eight hits over 4.1 innings in Thursday's 9-6 loss at Philadelphia. He issued four walks with one strikeout.
Owings was a disappointment tonight after allowing three total earned runs over his last two starts. He should remain erratic as a fantasy hurler.
