Newsbreakers

October 4, 2009

Chris Young hit a three-run homer in a 5-2 win over the Cubs on Sunday. He was 1-for-4 on the day.

Our View:

Young ends his disappointing season with 15 long balls and a woeful .212 average. His 32-homer season in 2007 seems like light years ago.

September 13, 2009

Chris Young hit his 13th homer of the season in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Brewers. It was a two-run shot and his only hit in four trips.

Our View:

The expectations for Young were so high, but he has failed to meet them year after year. He's hitting .300 in September, which is nice, but his average is now up to .203 on the season. That's right. Up to .203.

September 12, 2009

Chris Young went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Saturday night, but Arizona still got blown out 9-2 in Milwaukee.

Our View:

Young now has a hit in seven of his past eight games - no small feat for a man batting .202 in 116 games this season.

September 7, 2009

Chris Young went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer off Vicente Padilla in Monday's 7-2 loss to the Dodgers at Chase Field.

Our View:

Young hit his 11th homer of 2009 today, after crushing three Sunday at Colorado. Hopefully he will continue to generate power down the stretch for fantasy owners.

September 6, 2009

After going just four for his first 25 since being recalled from the minor leagues on August 29, Chris Young exploded out of his slump on Sunday, belting three solo home runs in the Diamondbacks' 13-5 loss in Colorado.

Our View:

The game was hit first multi-homer effort since May 5, 2008, and the sixth of his career. It was his first three home run game. Despite his three home runs on Sunday, Young is still batting a mind-blowingly awful .198 on the season. Since Opening Day 2008, his average is just .230.
