Josh Banks has been designated for assignment to make room for Mat Latos, according to MLB.com.
Banks has struggled mightily in 2009, posing a 7.15 ERA in 22.2 innings, and isn't worth owning in any format, no matter where he ends up.
Josh Banks was stomped for seven earned runs on eight hits over a mere four innings in Friday's 8-0 loss at San Francisco. He had one walk and three strikeouts.
Banks has given up 13 earned runs over his last two starts, and is not fit for fantasy duty right now. He has a 7.48 ERA for the season.
Josh Banks was roughed up for six earned runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings in Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Dodgers at Petco Park. He had one walk and no strikeouts, and gave up three homers.
The game went 13 innings, so Banks ends the night with a no-decision rather than a loss. He was a grave disappointment while coming off his first win of the season against Houston. He should only be an option in deeper fantasy leagues for his next outing.
Josh Banks has been recalled from Triple-A Portland according to The Sports Network.
This will be Banks' first big league action in 2009. He went 3-6 with a 4.75 ERA in 14 starts for the Padres last season. It is unclear what role he will be filling, but he had been pitching well at Portland, compiling a 2.47 ERA in 14 games.
