Newsbreakers

December 15, 2009

Philip Humber has reached a minor league deal with the Royals, according to team beat writer Bob Dutton's twitter page.

Our View:

Humber spent the last two seasons with Minnesota, and has a career 6.07 ERA in the majors. He would not hold much fantasy value if he manages to make the Royals' bullpen out of spring training.

August 29, 2009

Philip Humber has been sent down to Triple-A Rochester by the Twins to make room for Jon Rauch on the roster, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View:

The 26-year-old failed to impress the Twins this season, with a 8.00 ERA and nine walks over nine innings of relief. He holds no fantasy value while working in the minors.

August 18, 2009

Philip Humber has been recalled from Triple-A Rochester by the Twins, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Humber will replace the injured Francisco Liriano on the roster, as he was placed on the DL today with arm fatigue.

Our View:

Humber has thrown 4.1 innings with the Twins this season, and they were not very successful, as he allowed six runs and 11 hits in that time. It looks like he will head to the bullpen for now, but even if he moves into the rotation he will have no fantasy value.

April 21, 2009

Philip Humber has cleared waivers with the Twins, according to the Star Tribune. The club outrighted him to Triple-A Rochester.

Our View:

Humber will likely pitch in the rotation with Rochester. He failed to hold a job in the Twins' bullpen, as he allowed six earned runs and three walks over 4.1 innings of work.

April 17, 2009

Philip Humber has been designated for assignment by the Twins, according to TSN.

Our View:

Humber was rocked for six earned runs over 4.1 innings of work in the bullpen with Minnesota this season prior to being designated. He was part of the deal that shipped Johan Santana to New York.

February 1, 2009

Philip Humber is out of minor league options and the Twins face a difficult decision regarding the prospect, according to the Boston Globe. The team may try and trade him or find a roster spot for him, but it is unlikely that they will pass him through waivers by sending him back to the minors.

Our View:

Humber came over to the team as part of the Johan Santana deal and he showed well in the minors. The Twins are loaded with pitching, but they may be able to find him a spot in their bullpen.
