Scout.com reports that Andre Ethier has been named the "Clutch Performer of the Year", an award presented by Pepsi. The award is sanctioned by the MLB and voted upon by fans.

Our View:

Ethier led the majors with six walk-off hits including four home runs. He had six multi-home run games this season and had 31 home runs total.

October 21, 2009

Andre Ethier went 2-for-4 with a home run, a run scored, and an RBI as the Dodgers were eliminated in five games by the Phillies on Wednesday.

Our View:

There hasn't been many good things to say about the Dodgers in this series, but Ethier had a very nice postseason. He broke out this year with 31 homers, and he should be a very nice fantasy player for years to come.

October 16, 2009

Andre Ethier went 0-for-3 with an RBI in Friday's 2-1 win over the Phillies in Game 2 of the NLCS at Dodger Stadium. The series is now tied at 1-1.

Our View:

The Dodgers pulled out a win, despite only having five hits in the game. Ethier picked up his second RBI of the series, and will try to lead the Dodgers to another win in Game 3 at Citizens Bank Park.

October 15, 2009

Andre Ethier went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored on Thursday, but still couldn't lead the Dodgers past the Phillies, as L.A. lost game one of the NLCS 8-6 at home.

Our View:

Ethier has certainly been coming up big in the playoffs, but it looks like he'll have to do even more if the Dodgers are to have a chance against Philadelphia's imposing lineup.

October 8, 2009

Andre Ethier homered in fourth inning of Thursday's game, representing the only run allowed by Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright. The Dodgers rallied for a walk-off winner though and won 3-2, extending their NLDS lead to 2-0.

Our View:

Ethier got the Dodgers on the board, but an error by Matt Holliday with two outs in the ninth gave them hope. Ronnie Belliard singled to tie the game at two and pinch hitter Mark Loretta won it with a walk-off base hit.

September 26, 2009

Andre Ethier is not in Saturday's lineup against the Pirates.

Our View:

Ethier is just getting a routine day off, as the Dodgers are likely trying to keep him fresh for the postseason. Matt Kemp will play right field and Juan Pierre get the start in center.

September 20, 2009

Andre Ethier drove in RBI numbers 100 and 101 on Sunday as the Dodgers beat the Giants by a score of 6-2. Ethier was 1-for-3 with a home run, a run scored, and two RBI in the win.

Our View:

Ethier now has 32 homers on the season, and he is over 100 RBI for the first time in his career. He is having a monster season, and he is always good for a big clutch hit when necessary.

September 16, 2009

Andre Ethier hit a game-winning, walk-off home run in the bottom of the 13th inning to give the Dodgers a 5-4 come from behind win over the Pirates.

Our View:

The Dodgers tied the game in the ninth inning to force extras and then went down by a run again in the 13th, but Ethier came to the rescue. The walk-off shot was his 30th homer of the season (his highest total) and he now needs just two more RBI for his first season with 100.

September 8, 2009

Andre Ethier was 2-for-4 with two RBI on Tuesday, helping the Dodgers rally for a late 5-4 win in Arizona.

Our View:

Ethier now has 94 on the season, and has been the Dodgers' most consistent run-producer all season.

September 6, 2009

Andre Ethier doubled in two runs during a 4-1 game in the seventh inning on Sunday night, but that would be as close as L.A. got, as the Padres won 4-3 on the road.

Our View:

Late RBI from Andre Ethier, what else is new? He needs only eight more the rest of 2009 to log his first 100-RBI campaign.

September 2, 2009

Andre Ethier went 3-for-4 with a double in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Our View:

Ethier hit in the two hole for a change on Wednesday and responded nicely. He's been clubbing the ball lately though, so that could have something to do with it. A .333 average, six homers and 21 RBI in August will attest to that.

August 26, 2009

Andre Ethier picked a good time to have his sixth multi-home run game of the season on Wednesday night, driving in three as the Dodgers beat the Rockies 6-1 in Denver to retake a three game lead in the division.

Our View:

With 27 home run and 87 RBI, Ethier has easily been the Dodgers' MVP this season, and will surely continue to come up with big hits down the stretch.

August 25, 2009

Andre Ethier went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in the Dodgers' 5-4 loss to the Rockies on Tuesday. Ethier is hitting .286 on the season.

Our View:

Ethier has 25 homers this season, and he has produced at a very consistent basis. The Dodgers are struggling a bit right now, but their lineup is too good to be kept down for long. Ethier should have no trouble getting to 30 homers before the season is over.

August 22, 2009

With lefty Ted Lilly pitching for the Cubs on Saturday, both Andre Ethier and James Loney are out of the lineup, according to the team.

Our View:

Catcher Russell Martin is also getting the day off. Juan Pierre, Mark Loretta and Brad Ausmus will take their places in the lineup.

August 20, 2009

Andre Ethier went 1-for-3 with a solo home run on Wednesday in the Dodgers' 3-2 loss to the Cardinals. Ethier now has 25 homers this season.

Our View:

The Dodgers couldn't figure out Cardinals' starter Adam Wainwright until the seventh, but Ethier's homer put the Dodgers back in the game. He has been hot this month, so keep him in the lineup every day.

August 19, 2009

Andre Ethier went 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI double in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Cardinals.

Our View:

Ethier leads the Dodgers in home runs and RBI this season and has been on a tear as of late. He's hitting .380 this month with three homers and 15 RBI. He's a streaky hitter, so ride him while he's hot.

August 16, 2009

Andre Ethier went 4-for-5 with a homer and four RBI in the Dodgers' 9-3 win over Arizona on Sunday.

Our View:

Ethier is as streaky as the come, and right now he's red hot. A .365 mark and 14 RBI in August will attest to that. He's a must play every day until he cools off.

August 15, 2009

Andre Ethier performed well in Saturday's 4-3 loss at Arizona, as he went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.

Our View:

Ethier recorded multiple hits in three of his last four games, and is batting .328 this month. The rising star should continue to hit well for fantasy owners.

August 12, 2009

Andre Ethier did what he does best on Wednesday, knocking in the game tying run in the ninth inning off of Giants ace Tim Lincecum, but it went for naught, as the Giants rallied to win 4-2 in ten innings.

Our View:

Ethier's ability to get clutch hits is almost supernatural. Now he just needs to work on getting more of them earlier in games.

August 7, 2009

Andre Ethier played hero Thursday night, hitting a three run walk-off homer of off Rafael Soriano in the ninth inning to propel the Dodgers to a 5-4 win.

Our View:

Ethier may seem maddeningly inconsistent, but the production - 23 home runs and 72 RBI - is very real.

August 1, 2009

Andre Ethier went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 4-3 loss at Atlanta. He hit a single and a solo homer off Derek Lowe.

Our View:

Ethier has homered in back-to-back games, and continues to lead the Dodgers with 22 homers. The rising star also paces the club with 67 RBI.

July 31, 2009

Andre Ethier went 2-for-5 with four RBI and a run scored in tonight's 5-0 win at Atlanta. He hit a double and a three-run homer off Tommy Hanson.

Our View:

Ethier leads the Dodgers with 21 homers and 66 RBI, and the rising star should remain a solid fantasy option down the stretch.

July 27, 2009

Andre Ethier has been named the NL Player of the Week, according to the Sports Network. Ethier earned the honor by leading the majors with a .545 batting average (12- for-22) last week, with two home runs, six RBI and 23 total bases.

Our View:

This marks the second time in 2009 he has been named the top player of the week, and he reached 20 homers for the second straight season.

July 26, 2009

Andre Ethier went 3-for-3 with a pair of walks and a run scored in the Dodgers' 4-3 walk-off win over the Marlins on Saturday.

Our View:

After a miserable May, Ethier turned on the power stroke in June with nine homers and 22 RBI. Now he's hitting well over .300 in July and has tacked on another five homers. 2009 was pegged to be Ethier's breakout year, and even though he's stumbled a bit it looks like he's poised to deliver.

July 11, 2009

Andre Ethier went 1-for-4 with a solo homer off Mike Burns in tonight's 6-3 loss at Milwaukee.

Our View:

Ethier hit a homer in two straight games, and leads the Dodgers with 18. He also paces the club with 56 RBI, and the rising star shall remain active in fantasy lineups.

July 5, 2009

Andre Ethier went 1-for-7 with a solo homer off Josh Banks in Sunday's 7-6 win at San Diego. The battle went 13 innings.

Our View:

The rising star launched his first homer of July, and leads the Dodgers with 16. He also paces the club with 54 RBI, and shall remain penciled into fantasy lineups.

June 30, 2009

Andre Ethier carried the Dodgers offensively in Monday's 4-2 win over the Rockies at home, as he went 2-for-6 with two RBI. He hit a double and a game-winning homer off Joel Peralta in the bottom of the 13th inning.

Our View:

Ethier leads the Dodgers with 15 homers, with nine coming in June. The rising star should remain a nice source for power in fantasy leagues despite playing his home games at pitcher-friendly Dodger Stadium.

June 27, 2009

Andre Ethier went 3-for-4 with six RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 8-2 win over the Mariners at Dodger Stadium. All three of his knocks were home runs.

Our View:

This was an impressive outing for Ethier, and he leads the Dodgers with 14 homers. Ethier now co-leads the club (James Loney) with 49 RBI as well.

June 24, 2009

Andre Ethier is in no danger of being benched once suspended slugged Manny Ramirez returns to the Dodgers outfield, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View:

Ethier has been outperformed in almost every facet by Juan Pierre, including slugging percentage, since Manny was suspended, but manager Joe Torre says he is "still a threat up there." We'll see if he rediscovers his stroke once Manny comes back, but don't be surprised if he is the one most frequently sitting for Pierre.

June 6, 2009

Andre Ethier was huge for the Dodgers on Saturday, as he hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 12th inning to give LA a 3-2 win over the Phillies. Ethier was 3-for-5 on the day with two homers, two runs, and two RBI.

Our View:

After a rough month of May, Ethier has really turned it on for the first week of June. He appears to be a streaky hitter, but when he is hot he can put together several days like this in a row. He is still a strong play in all leagues.

June 6, 2009

Andre Ethier carried the Dodgers in Friday's 4-3 win over the Phillies, as he went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

Our View:

Ethier has a five-game hitting streak, with three doubles, one homer and three RBI over the span. He is hitting very well in June, after struggling in May with a .211 batting average.

June 5, 2009

Andre Ethier went 1-for-3 with a double in Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Phillies at Dodger Stadium.

Our View:

The Dodgers only mustered five hits in the game, and Ethier's double was their only extra-base hit. Ethier has a four-game hitting streak, with five total hits (two doubles and a homer) over the span.

May 26, 2009

The LA Times reports that Andre Ethier is back in the starting lineup for Tuesday's contest.

Our View:

Ethier has been dealing with a nasty cracked toenail and missed the last two games. He appears good to go now, but he has struggled ever since Manny Ramirez was suspended.

May 25, 2009

Andre Ethier missed his second straight game with a split toenail, according to the AP.

Our View:

Ethier is not expected to be out very long, and he could be back as soon as Tuesday. It was an unfortunate game to miss for Ethier as the Dodgers put up 16 runs against Colorado.

May 24, 2009

Andre Ethier appeared as a pinch hitter in Sunday's game after being held out of the lineup with a split toenail.

Our View:

Ethier struck out in his only at-bat, and the toenail that he injured Saturday could be affecting his already poor play. Consider him day-to-day, but it might behoove you to bench him for a few days.

May 6, 2009

Andre Ethier was 2-for-3, drew a walk, scored a run and drove in a run in the Dodgers' 3-1 win over Arizona on Tuesday to keep their home record spotless.

Our View:

Ethier has been brilliant so far in, what many consider to be, his breakout season. Chances are you nabbed him in the middle rounds or for a moderate amount of money in your draft and he has paid big dividends so far with a .327 average with six homers and 26 RBI.

April 25, 2009

Andre Ethier was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in the Dodgers' 6-5 win over the Rockies on Friday.

Our View:

Ethier is raking right now. He has 19 RBI on the season and raised his average to .311 after Friday's performance. He now has 10 extra-base hits and 13 runs scored hitting in the cleanup spot behind Manny Ramirez.

April 22, 2009

Andre Ethier was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored, and an RBI as the Dodgers fell to the Astros 6-5 on Wednesday.

Our View:

Ethier is looking very comfortable in the cleanup spot for the Dodgers and he already has collected 17 RBI and 13 runs scored through 15 games. He appears to be on the verge of a big breakout season.

April 19, 2009

Andre Ethier was 2-for-4 with three RBI as the Dodgers beat the Rockies 14-2 on Sunday.

Our View:

Ethier is one of several Dodgers hitters that are off to great starts. He's only hitting .298 but has 16 RBI and 11 runs scored through 13 games.

April 18, 2009

Andre Ethier cranked two home runs and drove in four in the Dodgers' 9-5 win over the Rockies on Saturday. He now has four long balls on the season.

Our View:

Ethier is hitting a modest .279 on the season, but the power numbers are great. Four homers and 13 RBI in 11 games will please any owner. He's better with Manny in the lineup and with a full season of that in 2009 we expect a big year.

April 13, 2009

Andre Ethier hit two home runs in Monday's 11-1 win over the Giants. The outfielder accounted for four RBI, two runs scored, a walk, and a strike out.

Our View:

Ethier was dropped down to sixth in the order for today's game, and the move appeared to awaken his bat. He is squarely in his prime and should produce a strong season for fantasy owners.

April 5, 2009

Andre Ethier had a rough day at the plate on Sunday, going 0-for-3 with three strikeouts. His spring average fell to .273.

Our View:

Strikeouts aren't a big issue for Ethier, as he whiffed 88 times in 525 at-bats last season. This game appears to be a bit of an aberration. Look for him to have a great season hitting behind Manny Ramirez.

March 31, 2009

Andre Ethier was 3-for-5 with three RBI in Tuesday's 10-9 win over the D-backs.

Our View:

Ethier could have a huge season now that Manny Ramirez has officially landed in LA. His numbers increased exponentially when hitting behind Manny last season, so we're expecting good things again this year.

March 25, 2009

Andre Ethier collected three hits in four at bats, hitting two doubles and driving in three runs in the Dodgers 12-8 loss to the Brewers.

Our View:

Ethier has some pop in his bat and could get to 25-plus home runs in 2009. He hits for average, keeps the strikeouts down, and puts the ball in play consistently. If he can pump up the RBI totals he will be even more valuable.

March 4, 2009

Andre Ethier took Barry Zito deep on Wednesday during the third inning. It was a two-run shot and was his only hit in three at-bats while serving as the DH. He did draw one walk.

Our View:

Ethier clubbed 20 home runs last season in just 525 at-bats, so he could get closer to 25 with a full season's work in 2009.

February 17, 2009

The Dodgers have avoided salary arbitration with Andre Ethier by inking the outfielder to a one-year deal worth $3.1MM, according to the NY Post. He can earn an extra $100,000 in incentives.

Our View:

The rising star is worth targeting among the top-25 fantasy outfielders for 2009.

February 16, 2009

Andre Ethier and the Dodgers appear to be headed to arbitration on Tuesday, according to MLB.com. The two sides are around $1.1 million apart.

Our View:

Ethier was absolutely tremendous in September and October. Over the 22-game stretch he hit .462/.557/.692. He had a .992 OPS after the break and he should have another nice season for the Dodgers - especially if the team re-signs Manny Ramirez.
