Matt Kata has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock by the Astros, according to the Twitter page of Richard Justice. Kata hit .200 for Houston while with the team.
Kata was 10-for-50 with the Astros this season, and he only managed to score twice and drive in five. He is better suited for the Triple-A game at this point, and he should be much more comfortable at Round Rock.
Matt Kata has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to take the roster spot of the injured Darin Erstad, according to Alyson Footer of MLB.com.
Kata has hit just .182 in 33 at-bats this season. Seeing as Erstad is hitting only .185, the injury appears to be a wash for the Astros.
The Astros have called up infielder Matt Kata from Triple-A to take Kaz Matsui's spot on the roster. Matsui is dealing with a strained hamstring.
Kata has played with several organizations but rarely made much of an impact. He has no fantasy value and Edwin Maysonet figures to get most of the starts at second base.
